Chapter 45 Donna Asserts Herself

Evelyn remained composed, showing no change in her expression.

She knew Tiffany too well, a hypocritical and two-faced person. Tiffany had said so much simply to inform Donna that Evelyn was not only a second-hand item but also a gold-digging woman from the countryside who had hooked up with a wealthy young heir for her own survival.

Karen and Nicole secretly giggled to themselves.

The Taylor family and the Wellington family already had a bad relationship. As Charlie's eldest son, Landon held a prestigious status and could have any woman he wanted. How could he possibly want a discarded woman from the Wellington family?

It was truly laughable!

Edward furrowed his brows slightly, his eyes filled with annoyance. "Aunt, this is my private matter, and you have no right to interfere."
"Edward, this is your matter, but it also concerns the reputation of the Wellington and Taylor families. I am bringing it up to prevent any future scandal if Lily, your ex-wife, is exposed. I'm doing this for everyone's good!" Tiffany continued her tirade.

"What about the reputation of the Wellington family? Hasn't Ms. Brown already divorced Mr. Wellington? Since they are divorced, they have no connection anymore. Mrs. Tiffany, how can you still think that Ms. Brown has embarrassed your family?" Donna sneered.

"Does she have to sign a lifetime contract with the Wellington family just because she married into it? Ms. Brown has a second chance to marry Landon, and there is nothing shameful about it. Just because she has been divorced, does that mean the Taylor family won't accept her? Of course not. Mrs. Tiffany, I advise you to be more open-minded and not to create unnecessary tension for yourself," Donna retorted.

Upon hearing Donna's words, Eric almost cheered. It was very enjoyable!

Karen, Nicole, and Debra were all shocked and stood there awkwardly, not daring to say a word. They felt that Donna was obviously defending Lily.

"Mrs. Taylor, you also come from a prominent family, so you surely understand what I mean!" Tiffany desperately tried to convince Donna, but she was clearly not persuaded.

Tiffany became embarrassed and anxious, her face turning red. "Ms. Brown left Edward and immediately got together with Mr. Landon. Others might think that Ms. Brown had an improper relationship with Mr. Landon while still married, and that's not very comfortable. You are now the mistress of the Taylor family. Shouldn't you consider the well-being of your children a bit more?!"

"That's enough!" Donna frowned, raised her hand, and even with just her dignified demeanor, she overshadowed Tiffany. "This is the private matter of the children. Although I am an elder, I am not Landon's mother, so I have no right to interfere in his affairs. Mrs. Tiffany, you are not Mr. Wellington's biological mother either. Saying these things in front of the children, don't you think you lack the dignity of an elder?"

"I..." Tiffany was left speechless.

"And also, Mr. Taylor and I are not officially married. He is my partner, but I don't want to hear you say again that I am the mistress of the Taylor family!" Donna sternly declared, intimidating Tiffany, who turned pale with a frozen expression.
Evelyn bit her lip, feeling a sourness rise in her nostrils.
The Taylor family always only had one mistress, and that was her mother.
Edward pursed his thin lips, his gaze ice-cold.
He did not like Lily, even though they were only nominally husband and wife. She repeatedly caused him discomfort and provoked him.
But when Tiffany used those sharp words to ridicule her, he suddenly felt that his dignity was being trampled upon, and he empathized unimaginably.
"Ms. Brown, are you going to find Landon? Let me take you there," Donna said gently, her gaze returning to Evelyn.
"Okay, thank you, Mrs. Taylor," Evelyn smiled warmly, like a polite young lady.
"You're so sweet, such a polite girl."
Donna took Evelyn's hand and patted it gently, intentionally speaking loudly. "Landon made a good choice in having you as his girlfriend."
"Hold on."
Edward's inexplicable anger surged as he listened to their conversation. He spoke sternly, "Ms. Brown, don't you owe me an apology?"
Eric sighed helplessly, wishing he could take off his socks and stuff them into Landon's mouth.
Evelyn felt a dull pain in her chest as she coldly looked back at him.
Edward felt as though her profoundly disappointed gaze had pierced through his soul.
"It wasn't my sister-in-law's doing! It wasn't Lily!"
A clear, soft voice suddenly appeared, as if lightning had struck after brewing in the clouds for a long time. It caught the ill-intentioned person off guard!
Evelyn turned towards the voice, and a light appeared in her dim eyes.
"Molly!"
A girl wearing a simple white dress with messy hair and fair and beautiful features quickly ran towards them.
This ridiculous hairstyle was Debra's "work."
In the Wellington family, Molly had always been Debra's imaginary enemy.
Debra envied Molly for being more beautiful than her, and she constantly thought of ways to bully her. Whenever they had public appearances, she would deliberately make Molly look bad, fearing that Molly would steal her limelight.
Molly had autism since she was young, which made her even more self-conscious and secluded. Whenever she met strangers, she would always hunch her shoulders and remain silent.
However, during the three years Evelyn married into the Wellington family, other than May, the only person who had shown her warmth was this overlooked Molly.
After leaving the Wellington family, Evelyn had always kept Molly in her thoughts.
Evelyn hadn't expected to see Molly here today, naturally filling her heart with joy.
"Molly, why are you saying that?"
Debra glared at Molly and said, "It could only be her since Nicole was the only other person in the bathroom at that time!"

"No, it wasn't Lily! It wasn't Lily who did it!" Molly panicked, speaking incoherently.

"Molly, this doesn't concern you. Go play by yourself over there!" Tiffany also had a cold expression, her gaze as icy as ever.

Molly clenched her little fists and walked up to the tall Edward, looking at him with a nervous expression on her face.

"Edward! It wasn't Lily!"

"Why do you say that, Molly?" Edward spoke gently, a rare tone when dealing with his youngest sister.

"I saw it! I was in the bathroom, too, at that time! I saw it!"

Everyone was shocked, and Nicole's face turned ashen.

Evelyn was also stunned, never imagining that Molly was present when she confronted Nicole.

"I saw... Ms. Adams came over and argued with Lily... Lily wanted to leave, but Ms. Adams wouldn't let her. She pulled Lily and snatched her bracelet off."

"Then, Ms. Adams smashed Lily's bracelet, and then, then, she shouted and ran away..."

"But Lily didn't touch Ms. Adams! I saw it clearly!" Molly gestured with both hands, tears welling up in her eyes from the urgency.

"Molly..." Evelyn's heart trembled, and her eyes turned red.

She knew that Molly was timid and afraid, but in order to clear her name, Molly forced herself to speak the truth.

Edward was shocked, his icy gaze fixed on Nicole's pale face as if brewing great anger.

He slowly released his hand that was holding her.

Nicole felt like a drowning person losing their lifebuoy. Despite the pain in her hand, she quickly held onto Edward's waist. "No, Edward! Lily provoked me first! I really didn't provoke her! Molly doesn't think clearly!"

"Did she not think clearly? I think her hairstyle is not great, but she explained the cause and effect of the situation very clearly." Eric sneered, refraining from being too harsh to save Edward's face.

Even this playboy who welcomed any woman couldn't stand Nicole, but Edward treated this cunning woman like a goddess, never leaving her side, as if he had been enchanted.

"Lily didn't harm you, did she?" Edward asked coldly, his voice tense.

"..." Facing the witness, Nicole broke into a cold sweat and dared not lie anymore.

"So, you're defaming her?"

The word "defaming" made Edward's breath stagnate, feeling a heartache.

"No, I'm not..."
Nicole was trembling with fear, and due to her excessive nervousness and blood loss, she suddenly passed out.

The ridiculous farce ended with a group of people hurriedly putting Nicole into an ambulance.

When William hurried over, Evelyn was accompanying Donna to the underground parking lot.

"Ms. Taylor! I'm sorry, I'm guilty! Such a big incident happened, and I wasn't by your side!"

William saw the bloodstained white handkerchief wrapped around Evelyn's left hand, and his heart sank. "How did you get hurt? Who did it? I'll kill him!"

"I'm fine, William. I know you were dealing with the company's affairs, but it's just a minor issue on my side."

Speaking, Evelyn stared deeply at Donna. "Aunt Donna has helped me resolve the matter."

"It's nothing. As your stepmother, I didn't do anything to help you."

Donna remembered how she was surrounded by people from the Wellington family just moments ago, feeling resentful and heartbroken. "Evelyn, why didn't you reveal your identity? Why did you have to suffer like this? You should have said that you are Miss Taylor of the Taylor family, Mr. Taylor's daughter, so that they would know the consequences of offending the Taylor family!"

Evelyn lightly shook her head. "Aunt Donna, I have left the Wellington family. I don't want them to know anything about me. Those people, no matter how dirty, how bad, and how detestable they are, will always remain in Lily's life. But in my life, they will never appear again, including Edward."

William was suddenly stunned. He realized that Donna also knew about Evelyn's marriage.

"Yes, the past is already behind us. Let the past dissipate with the wind."

Donna pursed her lips and laughed. "Luckily, it's not Susan who came today, or the past would have turned into a bloodbath. Susan is Charlie's youngest wife."

"Aunt Susan is a straightforward person who knows what she likes and dislikes."

Donna and Evelyn joked for a while, and then suddenly, Donna hugged Evelyn, her voice choked up.

"Evelyn, I still feel sorry for you..."

"I am not sorry."

Evelyn's eyes turned red, and she gently comforted her with a soft laugh. "With you all by my side, I don't feel sorry at all."
