Chapter 156 Strong Alliance
Karen and Nicole's scandal blew up online, causing a huge uproar!
The top trending topic on Twitter shifted from Edward and Nicole's engagement to [Nicole's Child] and [Karen Hired Hitman.]
Someone leaked chaotic scenes from the birthday party. Nicole, hysterical and screaming, even had her dress slip off, exposing her half-naked body, which went viral!
Underneath the Twitter posts, people were mocking and cursing Nicole.
Many netizens were outraged that Nicole abandoned her daughter to chase wealth. Some even started a petition to hold her legally accountable for her actions.
[She can't even recognize her own daughter, abandoned her abroad without a care. Can this even be considered a mother? Even dogs protect their pups. Nicole is worse than a dog!]
[I heard Edward dumped his ex-wife for Nicole?]
[Edward must be blind! Even though I've never seen his ex-wife, I bet any woman is better than Nicole!]
[I heard Edward and Nicole were childhood sweethearts? Childhood sweethearts are nothing but trouble. Just hearing those words makes me sick!]
Ruining someone's reputation seemed easy. But only Evelyn's brothers from the Taylor family knew how she meticulously planned Nicole's downfall, step by step. Evelyn was always patient, rarely making a move, but when she did, she made sure her enemy could never recover!
At the Wellington family hotel, the entrance was swarmed with onlookers, reporters, media, and police cars.
When Karen appeared, she was pale and weak, barely able to stand as two officers dragged her into a police car.
Many onlookers, excited to witness a police arrest, recorded videos and posted them online.
Across the street, in a Rolls-Royce, Landon and Simon, after handling everything for Evelyn, rolled up the windows and drove away.
"I thought about hyping up the Karen and Nicole drama, but seeing this, there's no need. The crowd's already fired up!" Simon scrolled through the overwhelming comments cursing Nicole on Twitter, his eyes gleaming with mischief.
Landon laughed and playfully patted Simon on the back of his head.
Simon scratched his head sheepishly, then his phone rang just as he was about to take it out.
"Perfect timing. I was just about to contact Peter, and he called me!"
Simon quickly put the call on speaker and asked with a smile, "Peter, how's it going on your end?"
"Simon, I've already sent people to arrest Karen, and I'll bring in the one who hurt Evelyn too," Peter, the seventh son of the Taylor family, spoke with a hoarse voice filled with anger. "Don't worry, I won't let that bastard have a single good day!"
Donna had two sons and a daughter. Mark was a chief pilot. Nancy married far away to Aurora Isle, potentially the future First Lady of Aurora Isle.
Peter, the youngest Taylor, always dreamed of fighting crime. Now, he's the captain of the first criminal investigation team in Mugden.
"Yes! Get him!" Simon, fired up by Peter, punched the car window. "You guys in criminal investigation can use some special methods during interrogation, right? We in prosecution don't have that power, so don't miss this chance to get revenge for Evelyn!"
Landon, listening, was both amused and exasperated.
They formed a powerful alliance. Anyone they targeted had no way out!
Edward rushed to the hospital to be with Byron, with Eric insisting on going with him.
A sports car screeched to a stop at the entrance, and Edward, not caring about anything else, abandoned the car and sprinted into the hospital. Byron was his only attachment in the Wellington family. Only Byron truly treated him like family.
"Byron, Byron," Edward murmured as he ran.
In the corridor, he saw Evelyn holding a sleeping Molly on a bench, the scene serene and beautiful. She gently stroked Molly, her features calm and radiant, like an angel of salvation.
A wave of guilty sorrow surged through Edward.
'Thank goodness she's here.'
Hearing footsteps, Evelyn looked up, meeting Edward's intense gaze.
For a moment, her eyes showed rare warmth, causing Edward's heart to tremble. But it was fleeting, and her gaze turned cold and ruthless again.
"Ms. Adams' birthday party is over? Edward, leaving that mess behind to rush here, is that really okay?"
She didn't curse, but Edward felt extremely uncomfortable.
He walked towards her; his bloodshot eyes filled with regret.
Evelyn lowered her eyes coldly, wishing she could shut off all her senses. "Byron is asleep. Tyler is taking care of him inside. You should stay outside and let him rest."
"Evelyn, I'm sorry," Edward's voice was hoarse.
"Sorry to whom? Me?" Evelyn's lips curved in a cold, sarcastic smile. "Edward, the one you should be sorry to is Byron lying inside, not me. I have nothing to do with you. But since Byron cared for you, I hope you can spend more time with him. This time I happened to be there, but what about next time?"
As Evelyn spoke, hidden pain surfaced. She took a deep breath, her eyes reddening. "I just hate that Byron's not my real grandfather so I can't always be with him. I wish I could carry Byron around, so I could take care of him all the time."
"Evelyn," Edward's throat choked, bitterness filling his chest. His apology no longer held any weight in her eyes.
"Edward!" Eric hurriedly walked in, giving Evelyn a complicated look. "Come out, I have something to tell you!"
