Chapter 589 Randy Released on Bail?

"What? That jerk got bailed out?"

Evelyn jumped out of Edward's arms, her voice full of shock.

Edward's handsome face turned dark.

He was close enough to hear every word Peter said.

"No way. Gilbert would've been ruthless; he wouldn't leave any loose ends. How could Randy get bailed out? Maybe there's something wrong with the evidence?" Evelyn's blood ran cold, her shoulders shaking with anger.

Edward stood up quietly, his warm hand wrapping around her waist, offering silent comfort through his actions.

"The evidence was solid. If it wasn't, the department wouldn't have issued an arrest warrant for Randy."

Peter's raspy voice was filled with frustration and resentment. "But who knew the girls who agreed to testify against Randy would suddenly change their statements, like they had been secretly contacted. They claimed they weren't raped by Randy and that their relationships with him were consensual. Even the two underage girls!"

"Consensual? No way! If it was consensual, why didn't they say so earlier?"

Evelyn was burning with anxiety. "Peter! There must be something wrong here. You have to dig deeper!"

"Of course, there's something wrong. We all know that. I even sent several experienced female officers to talk to them, but it was useless. They still decided not to press charges." Peter sighed deeply, feeling helpless.

"Mr. Wellington, Mrs. Wellington, the news is out!" Bart anxiously shook his phone.

"Play it," Edward commanded in a low voice.

Bart opened the video, showing the scene in front of the police station, with Calvin answering reporters' questions.

Bart glared at Calvin with intense disdain, his gums aching from the pressure. "He's just a puppet for the Alexander family, cleaning up their messes!"

Evelyn and Edward watched the screen intently, their hands tightly clasped.

Facing the reporters, Calvin spoke indignantly, "Everyone, you can see for yourselves. If Randy were truly a rapist, we wouldn't have bailed him out. Clearly, Randy has been wronged, and someone is trying to smear and frame the Alexander family! I will get to the bottom of this and ensure Randy's name is cleared!"

"Get to the bottom of it? He's just saying that!" Bart muttered through gritted teeth.

"He has to say that. The stage is set, and the show must go on." Evelyn's teeth were clenched tightly, her nails digging into Edward's hand, oblivious to the pain.

Though he felt a slight sting, Edward didn't mind. His heart was filled with concern for her. He wanted so badly to give her a peaceful life, but reality often shattered that dream.

"Mr. Alexander, Randy was involved with two underage girls."

The reporter pressed on, his tone filled with anger. "Even if they didn't accuse Randy, his involvement with minors is highly inappropriate and unethical! He should be strongly condemned by society!"

"Those girls were dressed provocatively and hid their ages from Randy, leading him to be seduced and almost face jail time. Who's really unethical here?"

Calvin sneered, "Moreover, Randy had no idea they were underage. Do you think he would jeopardize his future like that? The Alexander family is a prestigious lineage. I understand some girls might go to great lengths to climb the social ladder, but shouldn't their guardians bear some responsibility? Why should we pay for their lack of parenting?"

"Damn it! Calvin is twisting the facts and diverting attention!" Evelyn was furious.

Another reporter asked, "Mr. Alexander, last time Randy was arrested, he acted extremely erratically. There's still footage circulating online. It clearly shows symptoms of drug use. What do you have to say about that?"

"Randy wasn't using drugs; he was taking prohibited medication."

Calvin adopted a somber expression. "Randy had a severe car accident and almost became a vegetable. To this day, he experiences excruciating leg pain whenever it rains, so he has to take strong medication to manage the pain. It's a desperate measure.

Thankfully, Evelyn from the Taylor family helped him with the amputation surgery, saving his right leg and allowing him to lead a somewhat normal life. The Alexander family is deeply grateful to Ms. Taylor. Without her, Randy would be half dead."

The crowd buzzed with chatter.

Evelyn's near-miraculous surgical skills were impressive, but that wasn't the main point. The most shocking revelation was that Evelyn, known as the "Angel of Humanity" and "Beacon of Justice," had helped Randy with the surgery!

As the heiress to the richest family, she didn't need fame or fortune and wouldn't be coerced into doing anything against her will. So, her decision to operate on Randy could only be voluntary!

Was Evelyn's radiant image all just a facade for the public?
