Chapter 465 Dismissal and Investigation
Juniper's tone was clearly irritated, "Billy, you brought all these people here, each holding a weapon. What do you intend to do to my friend's family?"
"Ms. Tudor, even though they are the First Lady's family, the fact remains that they broke the law in our country and shot our citizens! As a police officer, I have to arrest them. This is my responsibility!" At this point, Billy could only grit his teeth and stand firm.
After all, Juniper was just a member of the royal harem, with high status but no real power. The higher-ups, weighing the pros and cons, would not protect these foreigners.
"Citizens?" Nancy sneered, "The person Evelyn captured isn't even from Torontow; he's from our country. It's just that our country doesn't have an extradition treaty with yours, so the police can't bring this heinous criminal back for now."
"And as far as I know, those who were shot weren't good people either. They were all villains with blood on their hands, protected by arms dealers, and had set up a nest on South Island, committing all sorts of crimes there."
"Your police didn't arrest or punish them, but instead provided them with protection. How bold are you to collude with officials and businessmen in front of Ms. Tudor, ignoring the law and blurring the lines between right and wrong?"
Billy was left speechless.
Such behavior was not uncommon in Torontow, but having the dirty laundry aired out like this still made him feel terrified!
The atmosphere was suffocating.
Juniper lowered her eyes and pondered for a while before speaking softly, "Billy, I now order you to kneel and apologize to Nancy's family.
And immediately do everything in your power to assist them in extraditing the criminal to their country."
Upon hearing this, Evelyn's eyes sparkled, and she exchanged a knowing glance with Nancy. Their hearts finally settled.
"This Juniper is quite reliable." Eric stroked his chin with satisfaction, "No wonder she's Nancy's best friend!"
Lloyd, hearing Juniper's words, was anxious and flushed.
"Ms. Tudor, although I am a police officer, I am acting under orders!" Billy's face turned pale with anger, but he refused to kneel. "You are in the royal harem; it's best not to meddle in these affairs. You should have Secretary Felix Garcia report to Your Majesty Owen Manners and let him decide."
"Orders? Whose orders?" Juniper raised an eyebrow.
Billy remained silent.
In the midst of this tense standoff, a voice called out, "Ms. Tudor."
Everyone turned to see a man dressed in Torontow's royal attire approaching and bowing to Juniper.
"Who is this?" Evelyn blinked curiously.
"He's Felix, the chief secretary to Emperor Owen of Torontow. He not only manages Owen's daily affairs and follows him 24/7 but also helps convey some of Owen's orders. His rank isn't high, but his power is significant," Nancy whispered in her ear.
"Got it."
"Shh." Nancy quickly put a finger to her lips, and Evelyn playfully stuck out her tongue.
"You've come. Do you bring Mr. Manners' orders?" Juniper asked with a faint smile.
"Yes, Ms. Tudor," Felix replied respectfully.
Billy's eyes darted around, revealing a sly smile.
He thought Owen wouldn't be as unwise as Juniper to break the century-old balance between Torontow's military and government.
Felix's smile faded as he spoke sternly, "Now, I will convey Mr. Manners' orders."
As his words fell, all the people from Torontow present knelt on one knee, bowing their heads, ready to receive the order.
But Evelyn and the others did not; foreigners had no such obligation.
"Billy has colluded with officials and businessmen, lining his pockets, and for years has used his position to protect criminal forces, disregarding the interests and safety of our citizens. Now, he even attempts to help arms dealers' accomplices escape justice and aid murderers in fleeing."
"After careful consideration by myself and the council, it has been decided that Billy will be dismissed and investigated, arrested immediately, and severely punished!"
Everyone was stunned.
Owen personally ordered Billy's dismissal, just for a few foreigners?
No, it couldn't be that simple!
Juniper listened and then smiled meaningfully, winking at Nancy.
Nancy's face turned red.
In the car, Lloyd felt a wave of despair wash over him, more unbearable than death.
"I...I was just following orders! I had no choice!" Billy collapsed to his knees, begging tearfully, "Ms. Tudor! I'm just a lowly police officer. His rank is much higher than mine. If I didn't obey, I had no way out! Please, speak on my behalf, I beg you!"
"Whose rank is so high that it can suppress you?" Juniper asked lazily.
"Royal Army Lieutenant Colonel, Sebastian!"
Hearing this name, Juniper's face fell.
And Evelyn and Nancy's expressions also became very complicated.
The chaotic situation was quelled by the timely arrival of Nancy, the First Lady of Aurora Isle.
Although she wasn't from Torontow, as a member of the Taylor family and a close friend of Juniper, and given the current international situation, Aurora Isle and Torontow had just established friendly diplomatic relations. Her husband, Wade, the President, had also signed several important cooperation agreements with Torontow. The relationship between the two countries was in a delicate phase.
Therefore, Nancy still held some weight with the royal family, and Owen couldn't ignore her.
Billy was dismissed on the spot, and with his epaulets removed, his legs went weak as he was dragged into the police car.
Juniper, escorted by Felix, prepared to return to the palace.
Before leaving, she hugged Nancy goodbye, full of reluctance.
"Nancy! When will you come to visit me again?" Juniper asked, tears welling up in his eyes.
"I'll come as soon as I'm done with my work," Nancy said, wiping her tears.
"But you're always so busy."
"But we'll see each other again."
After sending Juniper off, Nancy waved as the luxury car drove away.
"Nancy, I didn't realize you and Juniper were so close. I'm a bit jealous," Evelyn said, affectionately hugging her arm and rubbing her face against her shoulder.
Nancy smiled indulgently, tapping her red nose, "You have so many people who love and spoil you. Loyal subordinates, like-minded friends, and a man who would risk his life for you time and again."
Evelyn's heart skipped a beat.
Edward's handsome face flashed in her mind, making her heart flutter every time she saw it.
"But she, she only has me as a friend," Nancy sighed helplessly.
