Chapter 25 I Don't Care if She Has a Boyfriend
Eric and his companion, Amy Brooks, arrived at the hotel restaurant.
As the dishes were served, Amy immediately started taking photos of the exquisite food.
Seeing her naive behavior, Eric became annoyed. "Why are you taking pictures? Haven't you seen food before?"
Disgruntled, Amy put away her phone and began eating.
After they finished their meal, the restaurant manager, Kevin Mitchell, approached them with a polite smile. "Mr. Clark, are you satisfied with the dishes served in the restaurant?"
"Not bad, the meat is tender. I'm quite satisfied."
Although Eric's personal life was questionable, being a rich heir, he still had manners and etiquette.
"What's the matter? The meat is so chewy. It's not good at all." Amy rudely slammed her utensils, making a clattering sound.
Eric's face darkened instantly, and a hint of anger appeared in his intense brows and eyes.
"We value your feedback and will make improvements next time! We apologize for this time!" Kevin maintained a very good attitude and bowed deeply.
"Don't listen to her. Amy forgot to wear her dentures today, and she can't even chew a piece of bread."
Amy's expression froze, and she didn't dare to say anything in response to Eric's mockery.
Eric took out a bulging wallet from his pocket and pulled out a wad of banknotes, placing them in front of Kevin.
Most wealthy people only carry bank cards in their wallets, but Eric always carries cash with him.
"This is a tip for you. By the way, I want to inquire about someone."
With a chin raised like a knife's edge, the desire in Eric's eyes was undisguised. "Do you have an employee named Lily in your hotel?"
"Mr. Clark, KS World Hotel follows the service philosophy of 'no pains, no gains' and does not accept tips from guests.
Furthermore, our hotel does not have an employee named Lily."
"No? How is that possible?"
Eric became a little anxious when he heard this. "I saw her unloading at the back door when I arrived. How can you say she isn't here? Check for me!"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Clark. There is no need to check because I have been working here for fifteen years and know all the hotel staff, and there is no one you are looking for," Kevin said before leaving.
While Eric was silently wondering, a graceful figure caught his attention.
Evelyn walked into the restaurant alone, with elegant steps.
She immediately noticed Eric and couldn't help but be surprised, although she remained calm.
She had been married to Edward for three years, and he treated her as an ornament, leaving her on the side. He never took her out or let her enter his social circles.
But Evelyn still knew that Eric was his best friend. Although she didn't understand how two completely different people could be friends, she was aware of their deep bond, like brothers.
Fortunately, there were no other staff members in the restaurant at the moment. It would have been terrible if someone called her "Ms. Taylor."
Eric stared at "Lily" without blinking.
Amy was infuriated when she noticed Eric's new target.
She clearly sensed that Eric's gaze towards that woman was different, as if he had developed romantic feelings!
Jealousy burned inside her!
Evelyn asked a waiter for a cup of coffee and sat there playing with her phone.
"What a coincidence. Are you also here to eat?"
Evelyn coldly lifted her gaze, seeing Eric's handsome face approaching her, and remained composed.
"I'm just taking a break. I work here."
Eric raised an eyebrow. Of course, he knew she worked here, and he had asked to save her face.
Eric didn't expect Lily to be so straightforward and non-vain, and he liked her even more.
"Ha, Landon doesn't know how to cherish a woman. A beautiful woman like you should be hidden away and taken care of. How can he let you suffer like this? He lacks compassion," Eric said, resting his chin in his palm and gently tapping his cheek with his fingertips.
"Hide me away?" Evelyn smiled coldly. "Edward hidden me away for three years, and I've long grown tired of those isolated days. Does Mr. Clark really want me to repeat that experience?"
Eric was stunned. The woman's smile carried a chilling threat, causing a sharp pain in his eyes.
"After leaving Edward, I made a secret promise to myself. I want to become an independent woman and never be kept as a lowly, abandoned wife waiting for her husband's pity. I am willing to suffer and be tired. Mr. Taylor was willing to give me an opportunity to come here and improve myself, and I am very grateful to him. He has always respected my choices, so please don't speak poorly of him," Evelyn said.
Eric was speechless, and his smile became awkward on his face.
"Mr. Clark, your girlfriend is still waiting for you over there. It's not good to chat with other women, is it?" Evelyn frowned and began to chase him away.
"So, just because we had dinner together, she's automatically my girlfriend? Does that mean a kiss is equivalent to getting married?" Eric's eyes were charming and flirtatious. "Tonight, I'll come pick you up, and we can have dinner together. What do you want to eat? I'll make a reservation."
"I have a boyfriend now, Mr. Clark." Evelyn lowered her head, her tone showing impatience.
"I don't care if you have an ex-husband, and I care even less if you have a boyfriend." Eric was always shameless when it came to relationships. He only cared about liking someone or not, without considering whether it went against societal norms.
"If you're scared, we can go to my private villa. It's very discreet. My chef has a three-Michelin-star level, so I'll have them prepare in advance."
Evelyn frowned and thought, 'Why hasn't the coffee arrived yet? When it does, I'll make sure to give Eric a wake-up call!'
At that moment, Eric's phone rang. He took it out and saw that it was Edward!
"I have to take this call. Excuse me."
What a shameless man, she didn't need his company!
Eric temporarily left, and the coffee arrived.
Before Evelyn could even take a sip, Eric's companion, Amy, walked arrogantly towards her.
Earlier, Amy didn't hear their conversation clearly; she only knew this woman was the female employee Eric had asked Kevin about.
Amy thought, 'She's just a mere employee, a low-class woman. How dare she try to seduce the wealthy man I found? I must make sure she doesn't dare to do it again!'
"Hey, I warn you, if you want to continue working here, don't seduce Mr. Clark." Amy glared at Evelyn, her eyes burning like fire.
Evelyn furrowed her delicate eyebrows and fanned her hand in front of her nose. Her perfume's overpowering scent gave her a headache. She didn't even know if Eric had a sense of smell.
"If I don't do what you say, what can you do about it?" Evelyn replied calmly, not even lifting her eyelids.
"Then, I'll file a complaint against you and make you lose this job!"
"File a complaint against me? Is it because Eric's conversation with me bothered you?"
"You!" Amy was furious.
"Well, go ahead and file a complaint. Even if you complain to Mr. Taylor, the feedback you'll get will only be, 'You're crazy.'"
"Damn you!"
Amy was uncontrollably angry. She reached out to grab the cup of coffee on the table, intending to teach this beautiful woman, who had made her jealous, a lesson.
However, the next second, a scream echoed through the restaurant.
Like lightning, Evelyn swiftly picked up the coffee cup before Amy and poured the entire cup of coffee on her face!
Amy's makeup was ruined, her newly bought designer dress was stained, her lips trembled incessantly, and she wanted to cry, but no tears came out!
Evelyn picked up a napkin and casually wiped off a drop of coffee splashed on the back of her hand, her red lips curling like poppies.
"There must be a wound between you and me, and if so, it must be you," she said calmly.
In the hallway, Eric answered the phone.
"Hello, Edward. What's up?"
"Mrs. Clark's birthday is the day after tomorrow. Come with me tonight to buy a gift. I can't choose," Edward said directly.
"Oh, my mom treats you like a godson. If you gave her a piece of grass, she would put it in an antique vase. Just pick whatever you want!" Eric said casually.
"No, you're coming with me tonight to choose."
"I can't tonight. How about tomorrow? I have a date tonight."
"Cancel it."
"I already said I'm having dinner with her. I can't let the lady wait. I'm not a gentleman."
Eric pressed his tongue against his cheek and thought for a moment. He didn't want to take advantage of his friend too much. Although he wasn't a righteous person, he definitely wasn't someone who pursued women behind his brother's back.
Eric decided to pursue Lily openly, so he cleared his throat and said seriously, "I won't hide it from you. The person I'm going on a date with is your ex-wife."
Suddenly, there was silence on the other end of the phone.
"Hello? Hello?" Eric glanced at the screen and confirmed that Edward had not hung up yet.
After a while, Edward's voice, cold and magnetic, came through the phone like a gunshot.
"Are you with Lily right now?"
