Chapter 388 No One Can Replace Her

The blood-red eyes stared at Lori intensely.

Lori was terrified, trembling all over, barely daring to breathe. She hurriedly explained, "Mr. Wellington, I really didn't mean anything by it, I was just concerned about your health!"

Edward placed his hands on the armrests of the sofa, supporting himself as he stood up.

As soon as he stood, he felt dizzy, and an indescribable heat spread through his body, becoming more rampant.

He panted heavily, sweat streaming down his chiseled face, looking both sexy and weak, making Lori's eyes widen.

Edward, supporting himself against the wall, struggled to walk out of the banquet hall.

But Lori was not willing to give up and immediately followed him out.

Tonight was a rare opportunity for her!

She had to seize it. If she could have a sexual relationship with Edward, then neither Evelyn nor Jessica could stand in her way!

The corridor was empty, and Lori's courage grew. She directly lunged at Edward, just as Bradley had said—shameless!

"Mr. Wellington, you can barely stand. Let me help you back to your room to rest, okay?"

"Get away from me! I told you not to touch me, don't you understand?" Edward used all his strength to push her away again, his eyes filled with raging anger.

The disgust was glaringly obvious.

Lori, both anxious and angry, gritted her teeth and tried to hold onto Edward.

"What are you doing?"

A cold, stern voice suddenly came, making Lori's face turn pale. She quickly let go of Edward's arm.

Eric's eyes were filled with intense anger as he strode over to Edward, dominantly putting his arm around Edward's shoulder and quickly distancing them from Lori.

"Ms. Taylor, what exactly are you trying to do?"

"I, I..."

Lori tried to stay calm, but Eric's presence was no joke, making her scalp tingle. "Mr. Wellington seems to be in a bad mood and drank a lot. He drank too much, and I wanted to help him upstairs to rest."

"Drank too much? I know Edward's drinking capacity better than anyone. He was sober before drinking with you, and after just two drinks with you, he's drunk?" Eric looked at her suspiciously.

"Eric, what do you mean by that?"

Lori, feeling guilty, turned red with anxiety. "I am the daughter of the Taylor family. My father is a prominent figure in KnightSpear Group. Do you think I would drug Mr. Wellington? I'm not that low!"

"Who knows? After all, Edward is so handsome and outstanding. Over the years, I've seen many women throwing themselves at him, some with even better backgrounds than yours." Eric wasn't afraid and said whatever he wanted.

"Edward, how are you?" Eric looked down, concerned about Edward's condition.

"Go, let's go." Edward mumbled in a daze.

"Alright, right away!"

Eric supported Edward and walked quickly, saying as they went, "What would you do without me? You can go without women, but you can't go without me!"

"Wait, wait!" Lori, still unwilling to give up, called out urgently.

Eric stopped abruptly, glaring at her coldly. "Ms. Taylor, I advise you to give up any inappropriate thoughts. Edward is a man you can never have."

"Why?"

"Edward has someone in his heart, and you're far from her." Eric chuckled, not bothering to say more.

"Who? Evelyn?" Lori's strong desire to win was ignited, and she broke out in a sweat, persistently asking, "Didn't they get divorced? If they really had feelings, how could they get divorced?"

"You don't understand." Eric couldn't help but laugh, retracting his cold gaze. "Edward's feelings for Evelyn are beyond your imagination. Even if they're divorced, even if Evelyn remarries in the future, no one can replace her in Edward's heart. No one."

Watching the two leave, Lori felt all her strength drain away, almost unable to stand.

After a long time, she stomped her foot in frustration and shouted at the top of her lungs, echoing through the corridor.

"I don't believe it, liar, I don't believe a word you say!"

Eric quickly got Edward into his car.

Actually, along the way, he realized that Edward wasn't drunk; he had been drugged.

But Eric was puzzled about when the drug was administered.

At the time, the waiter brought a tray of champagne, and Lori randomly picked two glasses. How could she ensure that the one Edward drank was drugged?

Could it be that all of them were drugged? Such a despicable tactic.

"Edward, I'll take you to your private villa. You can't go home like this."

Edward's breathing became more rapid, constantly tugging at his collar, popping off two of the finely crafted buttons, exposing his enticing chest.

Eric quickly started the sports car. As he leaned over to fasten Edward's seatbelt, Edward, with a dreamy look in his eyes, murmured a familiar name:

"Evelyn, Evelyn."

Eric was momentarily stunned and couldn't help but laugh.

Edward still couldn't forget her.

Eric fastened his seatbelt, looking at Edward's vulnerable state, feeling both amused and helpless.

"I understand, Edward. As your only friend, I'll help you to the end!"

Evelyn, having confirmed the information she wanted, was about to leave the hotel with Adrian.

Just as she got into the car, her phone rang.

Seeing Eric's name, she wasn't interested in answering, but the phone kept ringing, just like Eric, never-ending.

"What is it?" Evelyn answered, her tone cold.

"Evelyn! Something happened to Edward!" Eric sounded clearly anxious, like a fire was burning.

Evelyn's heart tightened, her expression serious. "What happened?"

"Well, I can't say for sure, but it's not good! I took him back to his private villa. You're a doctor, right? Come and check on him!"

Instantly, countless horror stories flashed through Evelyn's mind.

Edward's aftereffects had become a constant worry for her.

When Eric said something happened to him, her immediate thought was post-traumatic stress.

"Send me the address, I'll be right there." Evelyn's brows furrowed deeply as she ended the call.

Adrian had just finished a long cigarette and was about to get into the car when he heard the roar of the sports car engine and the door lock click!

"Open the door, let me in." He pulled the handle a couple of times.

"I have something to do, you go back by yourself." Evelyn stared straight ahead, gripping the steering wheel tightly.

"Are you kidding me? This is Mugden, not Hameen! Where am I supposed to go?"

Adrian was exasperated. "Take me back!"

"Call Landon to pick you up."

With that, Evelyn's black sports car sped past Adrian like a black whirlwind.
