Chapter 120 I've Got Molly's Back!

Evelyn paused, then said coldly, "I'm fine, but Molly might be in trouble."

Edward's eyes darkened, and he tightened his grip on Debra's wrist.

"Ah! Edward, let go! It hurts!" Debra cried, sweating and almost in tears.

Edward's lips pressed into a thin line, and he raised his hand without mercy.

Debra was thrown back, stumbling before hitting the ground.

"Edward! Evelyn threw a shoe at me first! Look, there's a shoe print on my face! That's proof!" Debra cried, pounding the ground. "Evelyn came to our house to hit me! How can you side with her?!"

Edward ignored her, asking Evelyn again, "Are you really okay?"

Evelyn rolled her eyes, not bothering to respond.

She quickly went to Molly, squatting down and gently stroking her hair.

"Lily!" Molly cried, throwing herself into Evelyn's arms.

When Debra hit her, she didn't cry, but seeing Evelyn made her break down.

"Don't cry. I'm here now. No one will bully you again. I'll protect you," Evelyn said, comforting Molly and glaring at Debra.

Edward watched them, his usually cold heart softening.

He liked this scene, even wanting to see it more often.

"Debra, listen up," Evelyn said sharply. "From now on, I'll protect Molly. Don't think I don't know what's happening here. If you harm Molly and I find out, don't blame me for being harsh. The Taylor family won't show mercy to the Wellington family."

Debra shivered, turning to ask Edward for help. "Edward."

"Did you hear what Ms. Taylor said?" Edward asked coldly, his eyes on Evelyn.

Debra slumped in despair. 'I get it now. Edward will never stand up for me. He never saw me as a sister. I have to admit defeat.'

"Apologize to Molly immediately," Edward demanded.

Debra bit her lip, refusing to speak.

"Debra!" Edward's voice was cold.

"Forget it, an insincere apology is useless," Evelyn said mockingly. "It's better if she just stays away."

Debra wiped the shoe print off her forehead and stormed back to her room.

'Evelyn! You crazy bitch! I won't let you get away with this!'

Debra's eyes were red, and she was panting heavily. 'How did Evelyn end up in our house? Did Edward bring her back? Does he want to reconcile with her? That can't happen! Nicole is vicious but weak and poor. I could handle her. But Evelyn is different. She has a strong family and is ruthless. If she reconciles with Edward, I'll be her punching bag.'

Thinking this through, Debra hatched a plan.

'Why not call Nicole and let them fight it out?'

With that in mind, she dialed Nicole's number.

"Nicole! Something's up! Edward brought Evelyn home, and they're all lovey-dovey. You're really in danger!"

Meanwhile, Edward had the servants clean up Molly's room while Evelyn held her, soothing her gently. "Molly, don't be afraid. I'm here."

Molly, though twenty, acted childishly due to her autism. She clung to Evelyn's clothes, pleading, "Don't leave, just stay here, okay? I miss you so much."

Molly's plea made Evelyn a bit uncomfortable, her back stiffening.

Edward watched their interaction quietly, stepping closer.

"Edward," Evelyn suddenly spoke coldly, as if sensing him. "I know you're busy and hate this family. But you watched Molly grow up, and she respects you as her brother. If you have any kindness left, don't ignore Debra's bullying next time! If I find out she bullies Molly again, I'll sue her for intentional harm."

Edward was taken aback, his lips pressing tightly together.

'I didn't know Debra was so cruel to Molly. The sisterly affection she showed in front of Byron was all an act.'

"I swear, this will never happen again," Edward said firmly.

"Why swear to me? I'm not the one who got hurt," Evelyn replied coldly.

Edward was rebuffed again but was used to it.

Evelyn comforted Molly for a while before heading to the room where she had lived alone for three years.

She walked to the bedroom, opened the wardrobe, and saw everything belonging to Lily neatly arranged.

Evelyn thought of the effort she put into preparing gifts for Edward, the lonely nights making them, and his indifference when she presented them.

With her back to Edward, her heart ached, and a self-mocking smile appeared on her lips.

"Do you have a suitcase? I came in a hurry and didn't prepare anything. Please lend me one so I can pack my clothes."

Before she finished speaking, Evelyn felt a shadow pass over her head.

She looked up, surprised, seeing a slender, well-proportioned hand pressing the wardrobe door shut.

At the same time, she was trapped beneath him.

Edward's sleeve glinted darkly, causing her to shiver and widen her eyes. "Edward, what do you mean by this?"

Edward's thin lips parted slightly, and in a low, hoarse voice, he called her name, "Evelyn."

The magnetism of his voice brushed past her ear, sending electric currents through her nerves.

"If you want to take your things, answer me first. Why did you marry me back then?"
