Chapter 401 She Has Long Been My Woman

Why did he come to her with this? Why did he apologize to her?

Evelyn never wanted his apology. He never knew what she wanted.

Evelyn trembled with anger, a deep sense of disappointment and shame spreading through her body.

She wasn't one to cry, but somehow, at this moment, she couldn't stop the tears from flowing.

Gilbert had never seen Evelyn so emotionally out of control. The confident and proud girl she once was had almost been destroyed by Edward.

"Evelyn, don't cry, don't cry."

In front of Edward, Gilbert opened his arms and gently embraced the emotionally shattered Evelyn.

Evelyn's body went limp, her mind in a daze, and her forehead rested on Gilbert's shoulder, soon soaking his shoulder with her tears.

Gilbert's heart raced, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.

At this moment, he felt an unprecedented sense of satisfaction. He had never been as happy and content as he was now.

The scene in front of him dealt Edward a piercing blow.

He staggered back a few steps, leaning against the wall, feeling a chill spread through his body, penetrating his blood.

"Edward, aren't you leaving?" Gilbert patted Evelyn while coldly glaring at him, "If you really feel sorry for Evelyn, you should listen to her and disappear from her life completely. Your presence only serves to repeatedly reopen Evelyn's wounds. She finally escaped her misery, so why do you keep reminding her of how pathetically and miserably she once loved you?"

Edward didn't know how he walked out of the hospital room.

The bruise on his forehead made his face look even paler, as if all the blood had been drained from his body.

At this moment, he didn't dare to find Eric.

He just wanted to find a quiet place to hide and be alone for a while.

Edward walked heavily into the stairwell.

Leaning against the wall, his tall body slowly bent down, feeling as if his bones were about to collapse.

Suddenly, the stairwell door opened.

A beam of cold light hit Edward's sweat-covered face, causing him to gasp and immediately straighten up, trying to hide his disheveled state.

"Still not leaving? You have some nerve." Gilbert appeared in front of him, his gaze cold and mocking, "Even now, you won't give up? You saw what happened just now. Evelyn needs me now. But I really should thank you. If it weren't for your cruelty, Evelyn might not have been able to completely give up on you and accept me."

Edward took a deep breath, not wanting to say a word to him. Just seeing him made him feel deep hatred.

In the past, he would have already fought Gilbert.

But now, did he even have the right?

As Edward prepared to walk past Gilbert without a word, Gilbert suddenly asked coldly, "Why did you apologize to Evelyn? What did you do to her two years ago?"

Edward's steps faltered, and he closed his stinging eyes.

In his mind, he saw that night, their bodies exposed to each other, his hot lips brushing against her blood-red earlobe, whispering over and over how much he loved her.

She blossomed shyly under him, her soft moans and gentle sighs still echoing in his ears.

Evelyn never said "love" to him, but he could feel that she still had feelings for him.

Originally, they still had hope, but he repeatedly disappointed her, caused her pain, and completely destroyed that sliver of hope.

Edward's heart ached, spasming with pain, his eyes glistening with tears.

He curled his dry lips, "Do you really want to know?"

"Of course. As a man who has loved Evelyn for fifteen years, I want to know everything about her." Gilbert's voice was filled with unmistakable pride.

Edward stared at him, his eyes deep and unfathomable.

After a moment, a heart-wrenching smile slowly formed on his pale, handsome face, his voice hoarse and deep, "Two years ago, when she was still my wife, we had already been intimate."

Gilbert's pupils contracted violently!

"Evelyn has been my woman for a long time."

"Bastard!" Gilbert's mind roared with anger, his fist clenched tightly, and he swung it at Edward's face!

His Evelyn, he couldn't bear to touch her.

How could Edward have been intimate with her when he didn't even love her back then?

Edward raised his hand and caught Gilbert's fist with his palm, reacting so quickly that he seemed like a different person from the one who had just stood there taking Evelyn's blows.

Gilbert's brows furrowed tightly, unable to pull his hand back!

No one had ever given him such a strong sense of oppression!

"Evelyn hitting me is only right; I owe her that. Even if she stabbed me in the heart, I would willingly endure it." Edward's eyes narrowed, his grip tightening, causing Gilbert more pain, "But who do you think you are to dare touch me? I stayed to listen to you out of respect for Evelyn. Don't push your luck and think you can bully me."

With a sudden lift of his hand, Gilbert was thrown back several steps, his back hitting the wall hard.

Just from this, Gilbert knew that he was no match for Edward.

Gilbert leaned against the wall, his sinister smile contrasting sharply with his delicate features, "So, you haven't given up on Evelyn yet? You still want to fight me? Can you beat me?"

"Gilbert, I never intended to fight you. If you truly love Evelyn, I won't stop you. I won't stop anyone from loving her."

He had never given her complete love; if someone else could, he would willingly let go.

"But I know exactly what kind of person you are. I'll be watching you. If you have any ill intentions, I won't let you off." Edward's eyes flashed with a sharp, intimidating light, "Gilbert, you'll always be within my range."

With that, he turned and left, slamming the door behind him.

"Edward, you can't even protect yourself, and you still want to fight me for Evelyn?"

Gilbert adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, his angelic features now exuding a more sinister glow than a devil's.

Suddenly, he roared in anger, smashing the glass door of the fire hydrant with a punch!

"Edward, you can't afford the price of fighting me for a woman!"
