Chapter 419 The Psychological Shadow Still Exists

Gilbert returned to the Rose Club.

Sarah, having heard the news, was already waiting for him in the room.

The door was kicked open, causing the luxurious crystal chandelier on the ceiling to shake.

Seeing Gilbert storm in with fury, Sarah trembled with fear, not daring to look him in the eye, almost curling up into a ball.

Curtis, behind her, also looked terrified, as silent as a cicada in winter.

He had been with Gilbert since their time on Aurora Isle, and he knew very well what Gilbert was like when he was angry!

"Mr. Alexander," Sarah said timidly, her beautiful face showing unmistakable panic.

No matter how much she resembled Evelyn, she could never emulate even a fraction of Evelyn's grace.

"Mr. Alexander, please calm down. Maybe things aren't as you think? Maybe..."

Before she could finish, Gilbert strode to the coffee table, grabbed a crystal ashtray, and hurled it in Sarah's direction with bloodshot eyes!

Sarah screamed and covered her head with her arms.

But Gilbert didn't throw it at her; the ashtray flew past her ear, hit the wall behind her, and fell to the ground.

The wall now had a large dent!

"All of this trouble is because of your presumptuous actions."

Gilbert cracked his knuckles, glaring at Sarah with terrifyingly red eyes. "I gave it to you this face. You use it as I tell you to. Why did you do something I didn't ask for?"

Tears streamed down Sarah's face, but she didn't dare to cry out loud.

"Now, the fourth son of the Taylor family has already guessed our relationship. He might be secretly investigating you! If this gets to Evelyn and she finds out there's a woman in Mugden who looks almost exactly like her...

With her intelligence, how could she not suspect, given what happened with Edward and Jessica?" Gilbert's face was extremely grim!

"Mr. Alexander, I was wrong, I was really wrong!"

Sarah's trembling voice was cut off by Gilbert's long fingers as he easily gripped her neck, lifting her rigid body off the ground.

"Mr. Alexander! No!" Curtis was so scared his scalp felt like it was going to explode.

But Gilbert ignored him, tightening his grip, his eyes bloodshot!

"Gilbert, Gilbert," Sarah's arms hung limply at her sides.

Gilbert heard the call and a vision of Evelyn's smiling face appeared in his mind.

He softened. Because of Evelyn, he softened towards Sarah.

"I've already lost to Edward once. Don't make me lose again."

Gilbert's dark, menacing eyes narrowed slightly, his voice filled with a knife-like cold threat. "If it happens again, I'll make you disappear from this world without a trace."

He suddenly let go, and Sarah's body fell heavily to the ground.

She coughed painfully, her vision darkening, as if she had died and come back to life.

Gilbert pulled out a pure white handkerchief from his pocket and leisurely wiped his hands, as if nothing had happened, once again becoming refined and elegant, like a gentleman.

"Mr. Alexander, this trouble was caused by me, so I should be the one to resolve it for you." Sarah finally caught her breath, her beautiful face covered in cold sweat.

"You resolve it for me? What can you resolve?"

Gilbert laughed contemptuously. "Kill Ulysses for me?"

'So, that handsome man's name is Ulysses.' Sarah thought of that face, both wicked and charming, and her heart couldn't help but race.

That night after returning from the bar, she had even dreamed of him again.

Even she found it hard to believe.

"If you want me to kill him, I'll do my best," Sarah said, sweating profusely and gritting her teeth.

"He's my woman's older brother. You think you can just kill him? You're quite bold," Gilbert replied coldly, his eyes filled with malice.

Sarah shuddered. "I'm sorry, Mr. Alexander, I..."

"I don't want you to kill him. I want you to seduce him."

"What did you say?"

"That night, didn't you two have a good time?"

Gilbert's eyes gradually filled with disdain. "Since that's the case, you might as well take him down. I think he has some interest in you, even if it's just because you have a face that looks so much like his beloved Evelyn."

"No, that's not true, Mr. Alexander." Sarah's heart tightened, feeling as if she were undergoing Gilbert's cold interrogation.

Gilbert curled his lips coldly, leaning down to grip her chin forcefully with his fingers, his thumb brushing against her rose-red lips.

The old Sarah would never have worn such bright lipstick.

It was Gilbert who forced her to use this passionate red, simply because it was Evelyn's signature color.

Sarah gazed deeply at Gilbert, whom she had loved for so long, tears welling up and slowly streaming down her beautiful face.

"You're so beautiful, how could Ulysses not be moved by you? Go, seduce him, and then destroy him."With that, a chilling, sinister laugh rolled from Gilbert's throat, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Alright, Mr. Alexander."

Though Sarah was crying, her red lips curved into a bright smile that most resembled Evelyn's, the smile that drove Gilbert mad, "As long as it's what you want, I'll do it, even if it costs me my life."

Evelyn and Edward arrived at the police station where Peter worked.

When they arrived, Peter was already waiting for them at the entrance.

"Peter!"

Evelyn ran up to him first, and Peter quickly put his arm around her shoulder, "You're so disobedient! I should have handcuffed you to the hospital bed!"

"What kind of forbidden game are you playing?" Evelyn's eyes sparkled mischievously as she regained some of her spirit.

Hearing this, Edward's handsome brows furrowed, and a wave of irritation surged through him.

Peter's face suddenly turned red, and he coughed lightly, stammering, "Evelyn, what are you talking about!"

Edward's brows knitted so tightly they almost formed a knot!

Evelyn stopped "teasing" Peter and put on a serious expression, "Peter, is the phone restored?"

"It wasn't easy, but our tech team is very professional."

Peter then looked at Edward, "Mr. Wellington, we'll need you to stay and give a statement."

"Yes, I came here to cooperate with you."

Edward gazed at Evelyn's profile.

Evelyn could feel his gaze.

She lightly pressed her pale pink lips together, deliberately avoiding his intense stare.

In the interrogation room, Peter brought the restored phone of Kimberly in front of them.

Evelyn's long lashes trembled slightly as she slowly picked up the phone with the cracked screen.

The screen lit up, showing a photo of Kimberly with her grandmother from her hometown, holding a cute yellow and white puppy, smiling so happily and freely.

Evelyn felt a shattering pain in her mind, spreading from her heart to her entire body, making her tremble all over. She covered her ears with her hands.

Her eyes were tightly closed, but she couldn't stop the tears from streaming down.

"Evelyn! Are you okay? Do you need to rest for a while?"

Peter knew she hadn't yet escaped the psychological shadow. Seeing the photo must have reminded her of that night, causing her significant emotional distress.

He quickly stood up, intending to walk around the table to comfort her.

At that moment, Peter watched in astonishment.

Edward suddenly turned, opened his arms, and wrapped them around Evelyn's shoulders. His large, defined hand gently but firmly pressed against the back of her neck, then slowly, carefully, placed her forehead against his broad shoulder.

"Deep breaths, listen to me, deep breaths."

His thin lips were close to her ear, his voice low and gentle, guiding her, his warm palm soothingly patting her trembling back.

Evelyn kept her eyes closed, her fists clenched tightly, trembling in Edward's arms, gasping for breath, looking so pitiful.

Peter watched their interaction without intervening, letting out a soft sigh.

He had to admit, if it weren't for Edward, he wouldn't know how to calm Evelyn down.

Their relationship was truly complicated.

But if Edward's method could make Evelyn feel better, he was willing to give him a chance.

After a while, Evelyn gradually calmed down.

Realizing she was leaning against Edward, she panicked and quickly pushed him away.

Edward was momentarily stunned, blinking his starry eyes.

"Thank you." Evelyn mumbled, not daring to look at him.

"You're welcome," Edward replied softly.

She noticed that Edward's suit was wet from her tears, feeling guilty, she quickly reached out to brush it off his shoulder.

Edward couldn't help but laugh.

"Um, before you leave, take off your suit and give it to me. I'll have it dry-cleaned and send it back to you."

"Why clean it?" Edward's eyes narrowed slightly, his smile like a ray of warm sunshine, piercing her heart, "No need to clean it, it's fine as it is."
