Chapter 480 Fanning the Flames

At this moment, Edward's phone rang. It was Bart calling.

"Mr. Wellington! Everything is arranged! At seven tonight, all the news channels will report that Lloyd has been arrested. I guarantee Tiffany will see it!"

"Good." Edward smiled with satisfaction. "Afterwards, keep an eye on Tiffany and the situation at the prison. If there's any sign of trouble, contact me and Mrs. Wellington immediately."

"Yes, Mr. Wellington!" Bart hesitated for a moment, then quickly added, "Congratulations to you and Mrs. Wellington on reconciling. I hope you won't upset her again and make up for the three years you owe her!"

Before Edward could respond, Bart hung up!

Evelyn's face turned red with embarrassment. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but Bart's voice was too loud."

"I have no secrets from you. You can listen to anything you want."

Edward's lips curved slightly, his voice hoarse and affectionate. "Next time, I'll just put it on speaker."

"No, we should give each other some private space."

Evelyn's eyes sparkled as she asked teasingly, "And who is Mrs. Wellington? I only have divorce papers, not a marriage certificate."

"Who else could it be but you?" Edward took her hand, lowered his head, and kissed the back of it, his eyes filled with deep emotion. "As long as you're willing, I can remarry you anytime."

"Who cares?"

Evelyn's delicate hand was gently held by him, and her heart seemed to be held by him as well, her ears gradually turning red.

Edward's eyes were filled with desire. Not satisfied with just holding her, he sealed her lips with a passionate kiss, lingering and savoring every sweet taste from her tongue.

Every time Evelyn got intimate with Edward, she felt overwhelmed with emotion. Her eyes misted over, tiny beads of sweat formed on her nose, and her whole body went soft, all her senses shutting down.

Seeing Edward getting more and more unruly, Evelyn suddenly pressed down on the hand he was slipping into her clothes. "You had Bart contact the media to release the news of Lloyd's arrest just to provoke Tiffany, right?"

"Smart." Edward's palm caressed her smooth skin.

"Are you so sure Tiffany will fall for your trap? What if she stays calm and doesn't make a move?" Evelyn's body tingled with electricity as she clung to his broad shoulders, her hands trembling slightly.

"Never miss any possibility, seize every opportunity. That's what you taught me, Evelyn." Edward's voice was hoarse and alluring.

"Then I think I can help you add some fuel to the fire."

Evelyn's voice was soft and sweet as she hooked his chin with a smile.

Edward knew Evelyn had another idea.

At exactly seven that evening, all the news channels reported on the shooting incident. If it wasn't the top story, it was the second.

Footage of Lloyd's arrest was exposed, and in the video provided to the media by Edward, Lloyd's face was made public!

At the same time, the news of an innocent girl losing her life in the shooting spread like wildfire, causing a public outcry!

Citizens left angry comments on the main station's website and Twitter trending topics, condemning Lloyd's heinous actions!

[Lloyd is utterly despicable! A vicious criminal! I hope the law punishes this villain severely!]

[Now that the murderer has been brought to justice, the little girl in heaven should be at peace.]

Initially, the public was unanimously condemning Lloyd.

But then, a few comments quietly slipped into the discussion, like stones thrown into a lake, creating ripples.

[Do you know who Lloyd is?]

[According to insiders, Lloyd is a bodyguard for Tiffany and has worked under her for years. Everyone in the Wellington family knows about this.]

[Moreover, it's said that Lloyd has a very complicated background. He used to be a mercenary in Torontow and had blood on his hands. But who would have thought that working under Tiffany, his past would be completely whitewashed, and he would have been lurking in the Wellington family for so many years.]

[Also, the deceased was a maid for the Wellington family, and Lloyd was a bodyguard for the Wellington family, both serving Tiffany. Doesn't anyone find this suspicious?]

Immediately, various speculations began to emerge.

[I really don't want to see Tiffany's name anymore. Someone should just kill her!]

[Could it be that the girl stumbled upon Tiffany's secret, and that venomous woman, afraid of being kicked out of the Wellington family and losing her wealth, ordered Lloyd to kill the girl to silence her?]

The comments were all over the place, but somehow they were eerily close to the truth.

"Evelyn, I've released the information as you instructed."

William, who had already met the discharge criteria, was now recuperating in a nursing home, but still didn't forget to do what he could for Evelyn. "We already have our people spreading the news on various social media platforms, and public opinion has shifted. I imagine Tiffany will be panicking now that the suspicion is pointing towards her."

"Tiffany has a guilty conscience; naturally, she'll be on edge."

Evelyn was a master at manipulating public opinion.

"William, I'm really sorry to trouble you, knowing you're still recuperating. But you've always been the one liaising with the PR company, and you understand the entire process best, so I had no choice but to ask you."

"Please don't say that." William was very serious yet gentle. "No matter what happens, please always remember that you have me behind you."

"William." Evelyn's throat tightened.

She didn't know if it was because she had been so deeply nourished by love recently, but her heart had become increasingly soft, and she often felt like crying. It was all Edward's fault!"Besides, I'm extremely bored in this nursing home. Please give me something to do, or I might get early-onset dementia!"

"I heard Jennifer has been taking care of you. How can you be bored?" Evelyn teased him.

"She cooks for me in different ways every day. My six-pack abs are about to merge into one!" William sighed repeatedly, but even his sighs carried a hint of happiness.

"Jennifer inherited Joyce's excellent cooking skills. You're in for a treat."

Evelyn couldn't help but sigh. After a moment of contemplation, her tone became serious. "Once this matter settles down and your health is almost fully recovered, I'll talk to Charlie and Joyce about you and Jennifer."

"Our matter?" William's voice rose several octaves in surprise.

Evelyn smiled, hearing his strong voice, which indicated he was recovering well.

"Although you've watched Jennifer grow up, you've only been in a serious relationship for less than a year. You still need to get to know each other better and spend more time together before talking about marriage. But Jennifer is, after all, the daughter of the Taylor family and Charlie and Joyce's precious child. They are very cautious when it comes to choosing a future son-in-law. From what I know, during Jennifer's four years at Mugden, Charlie has introduced her to many young talents. Joyce, however, always used the excuse that Jennifer was too young and should focus on her studies to turn them down."

William listened quietly, his breathing heavy, his heart tightening.

"So don't think that just because Jennifer likes you, you have no competition. I need to talk to Charlie to give you some extra points. You and Jennifer still have a long way to go."

"Behave well, be a thousand times better to Jennifer, and make frequent appearances at our house to win over Charlie and Joyce. As long as you two are deeply in love and hold on to each other, any obstacles from the family, we will help you overcome."

"Evelyn, thank you." William's throat tightened, and no words could express his gratitude better than those few words.

Evelyn waved her hand cheerfully. "You've been loyal to me, and as your boss, shouldn't I give you some benefits? Besides, I'm not just doing this for you; I'm also considering Jennifer's lifelong happiness. She's thin-skinned, soft-hearted, and timid. I'm afraid she'll be bullied by other men. But I know you well, and entrusting her to you gives me peace of mind."

"Rest assured. I truly, truly like Jennifer. I swear, I will never let her down in this lifetime." William vowed, his voice choked with emotion.

Evelyn smiled with satisfaction.

William paused for a moment, his voice low and filled with genuine emotion. "Congratulations to you and Mr. Wellington for finally being together. Be happy."

"We will. We will all be happy." Evelyn was moved, her smile radiant.
