Chapter 271 Nothing Can Stop His Determination

"Yo, what's that in your hand?" Evelyn asked, eyeing the boxes.

"It's the breakfast Edward had Bart whip up for you," William grumbled, slapping two big food boxes on the table.

Evelyn's brow furrowed. "Where's Edward?"

"Off getting a check-up."

She popped open the boxes, and her eyes nearly bugged out.

Inside were these fancy Hameen-style breakfast goodies, all decked out and smelling amazing.

And to her surprise, every single thing was something she loved and ate all the time at home!

Her stomach growled like a beast.

"Word is, Edward had someone drive to Hameen at like five in the morning to grab these. The boxes are insulated, so it's all still warm," William said, pulling out each dish like a robot.

William knew Edward was making moves on Evelyn.

Even though William had a thing for Evelyn once and didn't want to block her from dating, he was freaked out that she'd end up with Edward!

"Is he nuts? Who asked him to do all this for me?" she snapped, but her hands were already shoveling food into her mouth.

William could only manage a bitter smile.

"Evelyn, is it good?"

A smooth voice suddenly cut in, making Evelyn choke on her food and almost pass out!

Evelyn clutched her chest, coughing like crazy, her face turning red.

"Evelyn! You okay?" William freaked out and started patting her back.

Seeing William's hand on Evelyn, Edward felt a wave of jealousy.

Edward's brows knitted together, and he was about to step in when Evelyn beat him to it.

"What happened last night? Why was I in bed?" she demanded, fuming.

"I carried you there. Sleeping on the couch all night sucks," Edward said, standing so close she could feel his warm breath.

"Who asked you to do the unnecessary?" Evelyn snapped, meeting his intense gaze and clenching her fists.

"Anything I do for you is never unnecessary," Edward said, dead serious.

"Edward, I'm not buying it. Save your efforts," Evelyn sneered, noticing his dark blue custom suit and the tie and lapel pin she had given him. Her eyes narrowed.

"Are you getting discharged?" she asked.

"Yep," he said flatly.

"No way, you don't meet the criteria."

"Then will you stay with me until I do?" Edward's lips curled up in a shameless grin.

"No way!" Evelyn's eyes widened.

"I don't want to be stuck here. And I don't want to not see you," Edward said, his gaze like a rebellious kid but filled with deep emotion.

Evelyn had never seen this side of Edward before, and for a moment, she was stunned, forgetting to keep arguing.

"Evelyn!" At that moment, Landon and Aaron showed up at the door, looking all serious.

"Landon! Aaron!" Ignoring Edward, Evelyn ran to her brothers.

Edward's brows furrowed, and he puffed out his chest, eyes blazing with determination.

'Even if they're her brothers, I can't lose,' Edward thought.

"Evelyn, you okay?" Aaron asked, holding her shoulders and checking her over.

"I'm fine. Let's bounce, Aaron," Evelyn said, trying to pull Aaron away, not wanting a showdown with Edward.

But Aaron, cold as ice, said, "Landon, William, you two get Evelyn outta here. I'll catch up."

"Aaron!" Evelyn frowned, her voice a mix of emotions.

"Evelyn, let's go," Landon said, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. He shot Edward a look and whispered to her, "You know Aaron's the calmest and most level-headed. Don't sweat it, he knows what he's doing."

Evelyn sighed, figuring nothing too crazy would go down in a hospital, and left with Landon.

Edward's intense gaze followed her until the door shut and she was out of sight.

Suddenly remembering she hadn't eaten, Edward rushed to the table. Just as he was about to grab the food box, a strong hand slammed it down.

Edward looked up, meeting Aaron's icy stare, ready to blow.

"She hasn't eaten yet. I'll take this to her," Edward said coldly.

"No need," Aaron sneered, his eyebrows furrowing in anger. "You made Evelyn suffer so much. Now you think a few pity acts and sweet gestures will win her back?"

"In the past, it was all my fault. From now on, I'll do everything I can to be good to Evelyn," Edward said, eyes determined, trying to take the food box.

He remembered Evelyn's weak stomach. That time outside the charity auction, she had lain on the sofa in pain from a stomach cramp. The memory still made his heart ache.

"I don't believe you!" Aaron's eyes widened, and he suddenly knocked the food box out of Edward's hand.

Before Edward could react, Aaron swiftly knocked the other food box to the ground too!

Edward's pupils dilated, his heart feeling like it was being torn apart.

"Stay away from Evelyn. This is my final warning!" Aaron's gaze was cold and piercing as he pointed at Edward's pale face. "Otherwise, your fate will be as miserable as this mess!"

"I won't let go," Edward said, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. When he opened them, his red eyes were sharp as a blade. "I've decided on Evelyn. I like her, and I want to be with her. Even if the entire Taylor family stands in my way, nothing will stop me from wanting to be with her."

Aaron was furious, grinding his teeth, but then he laughed disdainfully. "You think it's the Taylor family stopping you? Back then, we all tried to stop Evelyn from being with you, but she still married you without hesitation. So even if we do nothing, Evelyn won't come back to you. You've already exhausted her love for you, and you can no longer win her back! Don't think that just because she came to take care of you last night, she still has feelings for you. Evelyn is loyal and compassionate, just like Charlie. She wouldn't ignore anyone who saved her life."

Edward's heart clenched, and he tightened his fists.

No matter what anyone said, his feelings for Evelyn remained unwavering.

Through all the confrontations and entanglements, he had finally realized that he deeply loved Evelyn and regretted waking up to this too late.

He was just afraid that Aaron was right, and that Evelyn no longer had any feelings for him.

Aaron ignored him and strode towards the door.

Suddenly, he stopped and coldly said, "I heard from Evelyn that you were once in the military? People like you are a disgrace to the uniform!"
