Chapter 217 Don't Recognize You Anymore?

William's face turned red with anger, but Evelyn just smiled and said, "Interesting."

"What did you say?" Donovan asked, flustered.

"I said, you're interesting," Evelyn repeated, grabbing another piece of chocolate.

Seeing her sweet tooth, William chuckled.

"You've only known Dorothy for two months, yet you're ready to ruin your future and risk your life for her," Evelyn added.

"Evelyn, you have no right to mock Dorothy! You're just a bully! If it weren't for you, Dorothy would be fine. You ruined her life!" Donovan shouted, losing control.

William wondered why Evelyn didn't just call the police and instead argued with this lunatic.

"I don't mind you cursing at me. My father faced worse because he's rich and powerful," Evelyn said coldly. "But if you mess with the Taylor family's business, don't blame me for being ruthless. Those who cross me never have a good ending."

Donovan trembled, fear resurfacing. Evelyn's presence was overwhelming.

"Let me tell you the truth. Dorothy never loved you. She was with you because you're from KS."

"You're lying! Don't even think about driving a wedge between us!" Donovan roared, "I wanted to avenge Dorothy! You won't smear her!"

Evelyn ordered William to turn on the TV. Explicit photos appeared, showing Donovan's girlfriend Dorothy with Otis Patterson, the editor-in-chief of A-Headlines.

William was shocked. 'I didn't provide this info to Evelyn.'

"This isn't real! It's photoshopped!" Donovan clutched his head, seeing Dorothy smiling in the arms of a middle-aged man. His heart felt torn apart.

Evelyn stayed calm. William looked away, feeling uncomfortable.

"Their hotel records date back a year. I also have videos. Want to watch?" Evelyn asked.

"No!" Donovan screamed, collapsing.

"Where did you get this?" William whispered to Evelyn.

"I'll tell you later," she replied.

"Why did she do this to me?" Donovan cried, bewildered.

"The info you provided helped her and brought her benefits," William said coldly.

"Benefits?" Donovan asked.

"You were used by Dorothy, and people behind her bought her off," Evelyn said. "How else could she find you and hit the contract's weak spot so precisely? Someone was advising her."

Donovan cried, regretting his actions. He hated Dorothy.

"Ms. Taylor, I'll tell you everything!" Donovan confessed how Dorothy had instructed him to steal business secrets.

William took notes.

Donovan was escorted to the police station. As Evelyn's secretary and KS WORLD hotel's legal advisor, William would charge Donovan with commercial theft.

Evelyn looked at her tidy desk and sighed, "Donovan even put everything back in order. It's really something."

William said, "Evelyn, you still haven't told me."

"Edward gave it to me," Evelyn answered.

William stared in shock. "Edward? He's our competitor. Why would he do that?"

"Maybe he wasn't happy that Tiffany and Debra took his job and wanted to use me to deal with Debra," Evelyn said, recalling the night Edward gently dried her hair. She forced a cold smile. "I'd rather believe in ghosts than think Edward did it for my sake. He even sent an anonymous email, thinking I wouldn't recognize him."

'Isn't my title of hacker princess well-deserved?'

"Now that the traitor's dealt with, what about Dorothy?" William asked, concerned. "Even with Donovan's testimony, we can't prosecute her without solid evidence."

"Who said anything about prosecuting her?" Evelyn's eyes gleamed coldly as she looked at the naked couple on the screen. "Send these photos to Mrs. Patterson."

"Evelyn, Mrs. Patterson is a black belt in Taekwondo," William said meaningfully.

"Perfect for some exercise, right? Free sparring," Evelyn said, sneaking her hand into William's suit pocket for chocolate. "I've already dealt with her father. I won't handle her personally; it would seem too ruthless."

William covered his pocket with his hand, pressing down on hers. "Eat less. I'm worried about your teeth."

That evening, Edward didn't rush home but waited in his office for news from Bart.

Bart finally returned, excited. "Edward! Mrs. Wellington caught the traitor and sent him to the police!"

Edward responded calmly, feeling relieved.

"Do you think she used the info you sent?" Bart asked.

"It doesn't matter if she didn't," Edward said, thinking of Evelyn. "What I gave her was just a bonus. She could've handled it without my help."

He had always underestimated Evelyn.

In the past, he thought Evelyn was dull and uninteresting, with no special skills other than cooking. Now, he realized he was blind and foolish.

The internal phone rang. Edward pressed the speaker button. "What is it?"

"Edward, William is here without an appointment. Should I send him away?"

Hearing William's name, Bart rolled his eyes in disdain.

"Let him in," Edward ordered coolly.

Seeing the president of the Wellington Group was never easy, but because William was Evelyn's man, Edward made an exception.

A few minutes later, William walked in with a cold expression. "Edward, I'm here on Evelyn's orders to deliver something."

He placed a pure white box on Edward's desk.

"What's inside?" Edward asked, not looking up.

"A bomb," William replied coldly.

Edward's lips tightened.

"Do you think you're funny?" Bart snapped. "If it were a bomb, you wouldn't have gotten through security!"

William sneered. "So why bother? It's not dangerous. Evelyn sent it, so just accept it."

Bart gritted his teeth in frustration.

Edward opened the box, finding a cute dog-shaped cream cake. He couldn't help but smile slightly. "Did Evelyn make this herself?"

"Think again. Evelyn asked me to buy it for you," William smirked. "Do you think you're worthy of her cooking for you?"

Edward's jaw tightened.

"That's not fair. Ms. Taylor cooked for Edward for three years. If he weren't worthy, would she have done that?" Bart retorted angrily.

William looked at Edward with disdain. "Lily can make food for a dog, but Evelyn can't."

Bart clenched his fists, ready to fight. "How dare you!"

"Enough, Bart," Edward stopped him. "Why did Evelyn send this?"

"Evelyn asked me to tell you she received the anonymous info you sent. This cake is her return gift," William answered.

Edward was stunned. 'She knows? So quickly?'

"Sending this cake is Evelyn's way of reminding you not to take her for a fool. She's incredibly smart, surrounded by talented people, and doesn't need your help."

With that, William turned and left the office without another word.
