Chapter 443 Just Learned to Love
Jennifer, with her delicate emotions, was deeply touched, and her eyes became moist. Suddenly, she felt warmth from a small hand.
It was William gently holding her hand, then slowly interlocking their fingers.
Jennifer's breath became erratic, and her small face turned red.
The two of them silently held hands, each blushing more than the other, yet hoping to hold on forever, unwilling to let go.
Evelyn, feeling somewhat calmer, said to Edward, "After what happened today, May absolutely cannot stay at Riverside Villa anymore. If you and May don't mind, I want to send May to Hameen to work at Oasis Villa."
"If she wants to retire, I'll buy her a house in Hameen so she can live a peaceful retirement. I don't feel at ease with May staying in Mugden; I'm afraid Tiffany and Debra won't let it go and will cause her trouble."
"Evelyn, you and I are thinking the same thing."
Edward looked gratified, "I also want to settle May somewhere, at least temporarily, away from Mugden. Once I deal with Tiffany, she can come back."
"But if she can go to Hameen and settle down, that's also a very good idea, and I fully support it."
"I'm just afraid May won't want to leave with me; she can't bear to leave you." Evelyn squinted playfully, teasing him.
"She won't." Edward's eyes sparkled, gently rubbing her fingertips, "May has said that wherever I am is home. Even if I'm not there, she needs her Mrs. Wellington."
"Who's Mrs. Wellington? I'm not!" Evelyn turned her blushing face away, flustered.
Edward chuckled and affectionately patted her head.
Ulysses couldn't take it anymore and quickly slipped out to smoke.
At that moment, Edward's phone rang.
He pulled it out and glanced at it, his eyes flickering. He said to Evelyn, "Evelyn, I need to take this call."
Evelyn watched him leave, her heart tightening.
Outside, Edward answered the call, and Eric's voice came through, "Edward, everything's ready. When do you plan to leave?"
"Evening, on my plane." Edward's eyes darkened.
"Take mine, take mine. You don't need to save me that bit of fuel money!"
Eric was generous, "You're my wife's brother; I have to treat you right!"
"Your private jet is older than mine, not as fast."
"You're not giving me any face!"
Eric, annoyed, then asked quietly, "Did you tell Evelyn?"
"I can't." Edward closed his eyes, clenched his fist, and took a deep breath. "I know Evelyn very well. She has a strong sense of justice and needs to personally deal with her enemies to feel closure."
"If she knew I was going to find Lloyd, she would insist on coming with me, and I couldn't stop her."
"Torontow is so dangerous; how could I take her with me? I'm not crazy."
"Alright."
After dealing with the current enemy, he hoped his best friend Eric and his lovely sister Molly could be together.
He also hoped that he and Evelyn could have a new beginning.
Edward ended the call with Eric but didn't rush back to find Evelyn. Instead, he stood by the window, smoking and organizing his somewhat chaotic thoughts.
Suddenly, he heard familiar light footsteps behind him.
Edward turned around abruptly, and a captivating fragrance wafted over, stirring his heartstrings.
Evelyn's delicate body approached him, her beautiful eyes shimmering, her arms on either side of him, trapping him under her full, rounded lips.
Before him were Evelyn's tender, dewy lips, moist as if kissed by morning dew, a seemingly fatal temptation that made his cheeks flush and his Adam's apple bob.
"Have you forgotten everything I told you before?"
Evelyn's slender hand glided down from his broad shoulder to his chest, then to the firm muscles under his suit.
Edward's heart pounded loudly, his dazed eyes following her red lips.
Just as Edward couldn't resist wanting to kiss her, he suddenly felt his fingers empty.
Evelyn had taken his cigarette, placed it between her lips, took a deep drag, and then coughed painfully, her eyes, neck, and face turning red all at once.
"You don't know how to smoke; don't force it." Edward pinched her flushed cheek, amused and exasperated.
"I don't get what's so good about this stuff. It's choking me!"
Evelyn threw the cigarette butt away, stomping on it angrily, "You and Ulysses are always smoking. You're people, not chimneys. From now on, I'm going to play anti-smoking educational videos 24/7 at home. I don't believe I can't cure your bad habit!"
After saying that, her face turned even redder.
Edward looked down at her, then threw the remaining half-pack of cigarettes into the trash.
He wrapped his arm around her waist, his hot breath brushing her nose, "Sorry, Evelyn. I'll try to quit. No, I will quit and never touch it again."
"I know it's hard for you to quit smoking. Just smoke less; I'm not that unreasonable." Evelyn mumbled, pouting.
"No, I must quit."
Edward recalled the past, feeling a pang in his heart, "You used to persuade me, time and again, tirelessly, but I never listened.
From now on, whatever you say goes, except..."
Evelyn blinked, "Except what?"
"If I quit smoking, can I still watch TV at your place 24/7?" Edward asked foolishly, his handsome face blushing like a boy experiencing his first love.
At thirty, it seemed he was just now learning how to love.
Evelyn covered her mouth and laughed, "You're so silly, asking such a dumb question!"
Edward loved seeing her laugh. As long as she could laugh, he didn't mind being a fool for life.
"When are you leaving?" Evelyn suddenly asked.
The man checked his watch. "It's about time to go now."
"Shall I see you off?"
"No need, you've had a long day. Get some rest."
"Edward."
The next second, Evelyn stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips. Compared to the last time, she was more skilled, tender, and lingering.
She had intended just a brief kiss, but she underestimated Edward's desire for her.
He cupped her chin, deepening the kiss, their lips and tongues entwining, reluctant to part.
After a while, Evelyn gently pushed against his heaving chest, and they separated, a glistening thread connecting them.
Edward licked his lips, reluctant to part with the sweetness, "Evelyn, you've improved."
Evelyn, both shy and annoyed, clenched her fist, intending to hit his chest.
But in the end, she just straightened his tie and smoothed the wrinkles on his suit, like a wife."Hurry back. If you're late, I won't leave the door open for you."
