Chapter 310 Evelyn Is so Cool!

On the other side.

In the banquet hall, Calvin and Ashley were having a lively conversation with Landon.

Now that Calvin is the president of the Alexander group, he has taken over several significant industries and subsidiaries of the Alexander family. He is also the son in whom Elbert has placed the greatest hopes. It is expected that the entire Alexander family will be under his control in the future.

As for Landon, being Charlie's eldest son, he is bound to be the future heir of KnightSpear Group. So even though Calvin looks down on the Taylor family, he is willing to maintain a facade of friendliness with Landon.

"Mr. Taylor, I heard that KS is planning to expand into Mugden. You've been making quite a few moves recently, advancing aggressively," Calvin wore the standard smile of a successful person. "In the future, we will have more opportunities to meet in the business world. Our families have been friends for generations, and so did our fathers. I hope that in our generation, we can continue this friendship."

Landon smiled lightly and clinked glasses with him.

"In the future, if KS has any good projects in Mugden, remember to think of the Alexander family. If our two families can unite, no one in Mugden, or even nationwide, can compete with us," Calvin took a sip of his drink, not hiding his ambition.

"You are quite right, but unfortunately, I am just finishing my last stint. After this, I will be stepping back," Landon's warm eyes showed no ripples as he elegantly sipped his drink.

Calvin and Ashley exchanged puzzled looks, "Mr. Taylor, what do you mean by that?"

"It's well known that being president was never my aspiration. I took the position to help my father, to free my younger siblings, and to fulfill their wishes of realizing their self-worth and dreams. I didn't want them to be burdened by family affairs, so I took on the responsibility," Landon explained.

Landon thought of Evelyn, and a gentle smile appeared on his lips, "Now that Evelyn is back, she is very interested in business and eager to manage the group. She is also talented and capable. So after this transition period, I will step back and let Evelyn take over."

Calvin was stunned, "You mean Ms. Taylor will be the president of KnightSpear Group in the future?"

"Yes," Landon nodded, speaking frankly.

This was no secret; Evelyn was destined to be the successor of KnightSpear Group.

Looking at the entire Taylor family, no one was more suitable than her.

"But Ms. Taylor is a girl, and she's only in her early twenties, right? At this age, she should be enjoying her youth and getting married in a couple of years, shouldn't she?" Ashley said gently. "Moreover, your brothers are all outstanding individuals. Any one of them could be entrusted with important responsibilities. Does Ms. Taylor need to manage the family? It's so exhausting for a girl to work so hard."

"I understand your point, but Evelyn is not an ordinary girl. If we force her to do something she doesn't like and prevent her from realizing her value, she might get scared and run abroad again," Landon half-joked, "So, even if it's to keep her by my side for a long time, I have to give up my position to her. Whatever she wants, as long as I have it, I will give it to her."

Ashley was greatly shocked!

The Alexander family has four children, three of whom are from the same mother, and they fight like cats and dogs every day.

Charlie has three wives and many children, yet they don't think about fighting for more benefits for themselves and are willing to hand over everything they've worked hard for.

Unbelievable! Inconceivable!

Calvin kept praising verbally but couldn't help sneering disdainfully in his heart.

Landon lacks ambition. He has a bright future ahead of him but lets Evelyn run wild.

"Mr. Alexander!" At this moment, Calvin's secretary hurried over. Seeing Ashley present, he hesitated to speak.

"Sorry, excuse me for a moment," Calvin showed an apologetic smile.

Landon nodded, "Please go ahead."

As soon as Calvin left, Ashley's face darkened.

"What did you say?" Calvin frowned deeply after listening.

"Miss Green is here, but she couldn't get in. She was stopped by the Taylo's stuff and is now causing a scene, demanding to see you. Quite a few people have seen it!" The secretary wiped his sweat and reported in a low voice.

"Does she think she can step into this kind of event? Tell her to get lost."

"Mr. Alexander, there was a commotion outside just now. I heard Miss Green insult Ms. Jennifer Taylor and even alarmed Ms. Evelyn Taylor," The secretary swallowed nervously. "I don't think this matter can be resolved without your intervention."

Calvin's face darkened as he tugged at his tie, "Got it."

Originally, Evelyn wanted to deal with Brenda directly.

But Jennifer was afraid of making a big scene and having too many people see it, which might reach their parents' ears. So she repeatedly begged Evelyn to handle it privately.

At this moment, in the empty banquet hall.

Brenda stood there anxiously, flanked by two tall, burly bodyguards who added to her stress. Her previous arrogant demeanor was completely gone.

Evelyn, with Jennifer in her arms, sat leisurely on the sofa, and lazily crossed her legs. William stood by with a plate of fruit, serving them.

She picked up a piece and fed it to Jennifer, looking completely at ease.

"Last time, I heard from William that Brenda insulted you, and it was quite nasty?" Evelyn asked in a moderate tone, her voice hard to read.

Brenda's body trembled uncontrollably at these words as if she were in an ice cellar!

"Evelyn, this is a personal grudge between her and me. Please let me handle it," Jennifer took a deep breath, her heart tightening.

She didn't want Evelyn to get involved in this mess. In her eyes, even a glance from someone like Brenda was an insult to Evelyn.

"Jennifer, I know you don't want me to worry," Evelyn lovingly stroked Jennifer's silky hair, speaking the coldest words in the gentlest tone. "You don't want to trouble me, and I appreciate that. I'll handle this matter for you this time. Don't feel guilty. Consider it a lesson for me. Next time you encounter someone like her, you'll know what to do."

Brenda was even more shocked, trembling violently!

Now, she had no other option but to wait for Calvin to come and save her!

At this moment, the door of the banquet hall opened.

Calvin walked in with a cold expression, followed by his secretary.

William's eyes darkened a bit as he remembered the humiliation he suffered that night when he saw Calvin.

"Mr. Alexander!" Brenda cried out to him with tears in her eyes, her delicate makeup smudged. "You must help me! I was framed, I was deceived!"

Calvin's expression became even stiffer, his lips pressed tightly together.

He had always been very indiscreet in his private life. Brenda had appeared at a high-end club under the Alexander family two months ago, and that's when they hooked up.

In his eyes, this woman was like junk food with no nutritional value. Once he was full, he spat out the bones, and they should have had no further entanglements.

Unexpectedly, she chased him here, not only embarrassing herself but also dragging him into it!

Calvin's cold gaze made Brenda's legs go weak, and she took a trembling step back.

"Ms. Evelyn Taylor, what could be so important to cause such a commotion?" Calvin asked with a composed smile.

"Mr. Alexander, your girlfriend Miss Green came here to cause trouble, injured my secretary, and verbally humiliated my sister," Evelyn remained calm, her smile not reaching her eyes. "I thought about it, and this account needs to be settled not only with her but also with you. After all, I can tolerate anything except someone hurting my family."

Calvin's fake smile froze, clenching his teeth.

"Evelyn," Jennifer's eyes flickered as she tugged at her dress, looking worried.

"Ms. Evelyn Taylor, I don't quite understand what you're saying," Calvin's smile grew colder. "I've only met her once, a chance encounter. Why would I defend her? And what reason do you have to settle accounts with me?"

"Mr. Alexander," Brenda looked at Calvin with a pale face, feeling betrayed.

"Oh? Is that so?" Evelyn's beautiful eyes curved, her smile wicked like a charming little fox. "In that case, I'll take her for a stroll around the banquet hall, so everyone, especially Miss Garcia, can get to know this bold Miss Green."

Brenda was already on the verge of tears!

Calvin's face turned pale instantly, staring at Evelyn with hidden malice. "What exactly do you want?"

"Not much," Evelyn propped her arm on the sofa's armrest, resting her chin on her hand, her expression cold. "As the saying goes, respect the company someone keeps. I just hope that whoever's people make a mistake, it's their responsibility to handle it After all, as a girl, it's not very dignified for me to get physical with such a person, is it?"

Calvin finally understood that Evelyn was not only retaliating against Brenda but also challenging him!

They had no personal grudges, and they hadn't seen each other in over a decade. Why?

Calvin's gaze inadvertently fell on William.

So that's it. Evelyn must have already known about what happened that night.

"Mr. Alexander, please help me! Save me!" Brenda stumbled towards Calvin, but the secretary blocked her unceremoniously.

"Apologize to Ms. Evelyn Taylor and Ms. Jennifer Taylor," Calvin glared at her coldly.

"I'm sorry; it's my fault for not recognizing your worth.! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Brenda's eyes were red as she apologized to them.

Jennifer looked at Evelyn with admiration, her feelings of worship for Evelyn like an endless river.

Calvin was the president of the Alexander Group, a rising star in the Mugden business world. Besides him, there was only Edward.

But to Evelyn, whether it was Calvin or Edward, she didn't give them any face.

"Just saying sorry is enough?" Evelyn's cold and beautiful face turned frosty.

Calvin signaled to the secretary with his eyes.

The secretary understood and, without a word, swung his arm, slapping Brenda's face repeatedly!

Four slaps in a row knocked Brenda to the ground, her mouth full of blood!

Jennifer's heart trembled, quickly turned her face away.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here," Evelyn pulled Jennifer into her arms, gently stroking the back of her neck, then glanced at William with a hint of reproach. "William, Jennifer is so scared, and you didn't come over to comfort her."

Hearing this, Jennifer's face turned as red as a rose.

"Evelyn, I..." William's expression was awkward, his heart pounding.

"Alright, alright, it's almost time. You can comfort her outside," With that, Evelyn took Jennifer's arm and stood up, walking straight towards the door.

As they were about to leave, she playfully said, "This banquet hall is quite secluded, so no one usually comes here. I'll leave the cleanup to you. But hurry up, the banquet is about to start."

The door closed tightly.

Ten minutes later, Calvin and his secretary walked out.

His eyes were fierce, and his Patek Philippe watch was stained with blood, while the room still echoed with the painful groans and pleas of a woman, "You stay and clean up."

"Yes, Mr. Alexander!" The secretary replied.

"Evelyn is indeed interesting," Calvin exuded a sinister aura, his fingers cracking. "It's been a long time since someone dared to challenge me to my face, and it's a woman. Since she wants to play, I'll play with her."

Evelyn had vented her anger for Jennifer, and it was a satisfying release, but Jennifer still felt uneasy.

Evelyn left first, leaving William alone with her.

They went to the open-air balcony to get some fresh air, calming their chaotic thoughts.

Seeing Jennifer shivering, William quickly draped his jacket over her shoulders, "Jennifer, it's windy here. Keep warm."

"That night, was it you who told Evelyn about Brenda causing me trouble?" Jennifer turned slowly, her eyes filled with mixed emotions.

William hesitated, then softly replied, "Yes. I told Ms. Evelyn Taylor."

"Why did you do that? My issue with Brenda is my own. Why did you involve Evelyn?" Jennifer's eyes were anxious, her brows furrowed. "Evelyn is already very busy and tired. How could you let her worry about such a small matter? Moreover, it even involved Calvin, and Evelyn almost had a conflict with him! Do you think Calvin won't hold a grudge against Evelyn? Will he just let it go?"

"Ms. Jennifer Taylor."

"William, you're Evelyn's secretary, and you care about her. Why didn't you think more about her at this time?" Jennifer's tone grew heavier, she was anxious. "What if Calvin retaliates against Evelyn in the business world? Have you thought about how serious the consequences could be?"

Facing her questioning, William felt a sharp pain in his heart.

In a moment of panic, he grabbed Jennifer's thin shoulders, his eyes burning red, "But I was too angry! I wanted to stand up for you, I was afraid Brenda would bully you at school! The thought of her insulting you that night made me unable to bear it for another moment. I just wanted to rush to your side and protect you!"

"William," Jennifer was stunned, staring deeply into his passionate eyes.

The heat from his damp palms seeped into her shoulders, merging into her blood, and wrapping around her racing heart.

"I know, this time I took advantage of Ms. Evelyn Taylor, and I will apologize to her. But I couldn't care about anything else," William's breath grew rapid, his cheeks flushed with heat. "I hate myself for being incompetent, I hate myself for being useless. But as long as I can protect you, I'm willing to do anything."

Jennifer's cheeks turned crimson, her eyes welling up with tears. Suddenly, she leaned in and gently rested her forehead on his broad shoulder.
