Chapter 366 Saving a Leg
"Evelyn, what do you mean by that?" Elbert asked in astonishment.
"I've treated countless patients with fractures. Based on my experience, I can determine the cause of the fracture through examination. I can even speculate what caused the fracture."
Evelyn paused, her clear voice lowering a bit, "I don't think this was caused by a car accident. There are signs of human intervention, possibly from being struck by a heavy object like an iron rod."
Upon hearing this, Gilbert's eyes darkened suddenly.
"Ms. Taylor, are you saying that Randy was beaten after the car accident?" Calvin glanced in Gilbert's direction and asked with feigned concern, "So, does this mean Randy's car accident was also intentional?"
Intentional?
Everyone was shocked!
"Dad! Look! I told you there was something fishy about Randy's car accident, didn't I?" Helen shouted angrily from the side.
Elbert's pupils dilated, and his expression slowly darkened.
"Whether it was intentional or not, I don't know. I'm just stating what I found as a surgeon.
"In an hour, I'll perform surgery to set Randy's bones. The procedure will be lengthy, so don't wait here. You can go back or get a room at KS WORLD to rest; it's nearby. I'll notify you as soon as the surgery is over," Evelyn suggested considerately.
"I'm not tired; I'll wait here!" Elbert couldn't help but like Evelyn more and more.
He was determined to have Evelyn marry into the Alexander family!
The surgery took longer than expected, from 1 PM until 9 PM.
Finally, the light in the operating room went out.
Evelyn, supported by an assistant, slowly walked out. After standing for several hours, her surgical gown was soaked with sweat, and she had used several towels to wipe it off. Her slender legs were trembling.
Fortunately, she was young and in good health, so she could endure it.
"Evelyn!"
Gilbert quickly rushed to her side, gently supporting her weakened body, "You've worked hard. Are you exhausted?"
"I'm okay. The surgery is what matters."
Evelyn suddenly felt a moment of dizziness, her body trembling slightly, almost unable to stand.
"Evelyn, be careful!" Gilbert, fearing she might fall, instinctively wrapped his arm around her waist, holding her firmly.
The Alexander family members who witnessed this scene exchanged subtle glances.
Evelyn and Gilbert seemed very close, indicating a good relationship.
However, Gilbert's status in the Alexander family didn't quite match up to Evelyn.
"I'm fine." Evelyn took a deep breath and gently freed herself from Gilbert's embrace.
In front of everyone, she certainly didn't want to be misunderstood.
Gilbert's hands awkwardly froze in mid-air, his fingers stiffly clenched.
At this moment, Elbert arrived with his secretary and others.
"Evelyn, how is it?"
"Uncle Elbert, I did my best."
Evelyn wiped the sweat from her forehead and sighed helplessly, "Randy's leg was too severely injured. I could only save his left leg."
"What about the right leg?"
"It needs to be amputated."
The word "amputation" struck Elbert like a bolt of lightning, leaving him in darkness.
"It's okay, it's okay, Evelyn. I know you did your best. Saving one leg is already a great achievement," he said after regaining his composure.
"Also, towards the end of the surgery, Randy woke up. He said his leg was deliberately broken by someone." Evelyn reported truthfully, without any concealment.
Elbert was shocked and hurriedly asked, "By whom? Who?"
"For specifics, you'll have to wait until Randy calms down and ask him yourself."
Evelyn's medical skills were undeniably excellent, and the surgery went relatively smoothly. The news of her saving Randy's leg quickly spread throughout the hospital, almost like a miracle.
Randy was transferred to a VIP ward, and the Alexander family members all went in to accompany him.
Only Gilbert stayed outside, sitting on a bench with Evelyn, handing her a cup of hot coffee.
"Evelyn, you must be thirsty. Have some water."
"Thank you." Evelyn took the cup and looked at Gilbert, her tired eyes filled with complex emotions.
"I should be thanking you. Thank you for saving Randy's leg. Although he might have difficulty moving in the future and may need a prosthetic, it's still better than being confined to a wheelchair for life," Gilbert said sincerely.
"Gilbert." Evelyn paused for a moment, then asked in a low voice, "Was it you?"
Gilbert's heart skipped a beat, "What?"
"Nothing." Evelyn didn't press further and slowly stood up, "I'm hungry. I need to find something to eat."
"I'll go with you." Gilbert, not wanting her to leave alone, stood up as well.
Suddenly, Evelyn felt dizzy, accompanied by slight nausea, and her body swayed.
Having barely eaten all day, she was severely hypoglycemic and nearly fainted.
Fortunately, Gilbert reacted quickly, catching her weak body as she fell back. "Evelyn."
"Lily?"
Evelyn squinted her eyes, hearing a familiar and affectionate voice. She slowly turned her head.
The next second, she was startled!
Not far away, Byron, looking shocked, sat in a wheelchair, appearing before her.
And pushing the wheelchair was Edward, tall and imposing, his gaze cold and piercing.
It was indeed Edward.
