Chapter 356 Facing It Calmly

Evelyn, feeling unsettled, sped all the way back to her villa in Mugden.

She originally went to deal with Tiffany, but on the way back, her mind was filled with the image of being pinned against the wall by Edward.

Edward's intense and fiery gaze was fixed on her, her reflection in his eyes dark and sorrowful. His expression, a mix of anger, helplessness, and embarrassment, lingered in her mind. She tightly gripped the steering wheel, tingling as if an electric current had passed through them.

That look in his eyes was clearly full of emotion.

But what did that even mean?

Evelyn got out of the car with a gloomy expression, only to see Landon, Peter, and William already waiting for her at the villa's entrance.

"Evelyn!"

"Why are you all here?" Evelyn asked, trying to muster some energy and surprise.

"I heard you went to Riverside Villa alone?"

Landon sighed worriedly and put an arm around her shoulder. "But then I heard Edward was home tonight, and I felt relieved. With him there, you shouldn't have been at a disadvantage."

"Why wouldn't I be at a disadvantage with him there?" Evelyn frowned, her lips pressed together in displeasure.

"He has feelings for you; he would definitely protect you."

"That's not funny at all."

Evelyn's heart trembled, and her tone became more resistant. "I was his wife for three years. During those three years, I suffered so much because of him, and he never said a word in my defense. Now we're not even strangers, so why would he stand up for me?"

"Exactly." Peter walked over with his hands in his pockets, sneering. "Edward is heartless. Even if he didn't like Evelyn back then, she was still the woman he married, his wife, and he should have protected her. But look at what he did!"

Suddenly, Landon's gaze fixed on something behind Evelyn.

"Gilbert?"

Evelyn was stunned for a moment and turned around in surprise.

In the dim night, Gilbert's sports car was parked not far away, engine off, lights out, as if it didn't exist.

He didn't get out of the car but sat in the driver's seat, leaning forward with his forearms crossed on the steering wheel, staring intently at her.

Evelyn bit her red lips lightly and met his gaze. She didn't greet him or walk towards him.

In the light, she could clearly see Gilbert slowly lower his head, burying most of his delicate face in his arms, leaving only a pair of beautiful but lonely eyes exposed.

That pitiful and lonely look, like a wounded puppy, reminded her of fifteen years ago when she saw him being punished by Elbert to stand in the rain.

"When did he follow us? Not a sound." Peter couldn't help but shrug, feeling a chill down his spine.

Landon looked in Gilbert's direction, then meaningfully at Evelyn's complex expression. "Did he follow you to Riverside Villa?"

"Yes." Evelyn nodded.

At that moment, the sports car started up again, made a sharp turn, and quickly disappeared into the night.

"He just left like that?"

Peter frowned in surprise. "Evelyn, what kind of people are chasing after you? They're either scumbags or stalker maniacs."

"Let's get to the point."

Evelyn stopped thinking about Gilbert and asked with a heavy expression, "Peter, how's the investigation on Trevor going? Is he still not talking?"

Peter sighed. "I'm afraid it will take some more time. He's more loyal than we thought. He's so devoted to Tiffany that you'd think they were married!"

"I figured as much. He was willing to kill for Tiffany; he won't give in easily."

Evelyn crossed her arms, her gaze deep and her face cold. "That's why I had you interrogate him the way I said, to break his will. When his mental defenses are weak, we'll deliver a fatal blow, making his feelings for Tiffany completely collapse."

"Evelyn, what else do you need us to do? We're with you all the way!" Peter was already raring to go, determined to make them pay.

"Getting Trevor to testify against Tiffany is far from enough."

Evelyn's eyes blazed with anger. "For the dignity Joyce lost because of her, for the harm she caused, I want her to pay back double!"

"Evelyn, Peter, I think we should continue to dig deeper into Trevor and Tiffany's relationship."

Landon's face was as cold as ice, his eyes gleaming with rational and ruthless light. "It was probably a spur-of-the-moment decision for Tiffany to have Trevor go after Joyce. The fact that a single call from Tiffany could make him act without hesitation shows that they've likely been in contact all these years. Who knows, Tiffany might have a lot of shady dealings that outsiders are unaware of, all carried out by Trevor."

"Exactly, they might even have kids together!" Peter sneered from the side.

Evelyn took it as a joke but couldn't help but ponder.

If that were true, it would make things much easier. It would be enough to ruin Tiffany for life!

But Tiffany, who held herself in such high regard and valued her title as Patrick's wife, would she really lower herself to be with a lowly, down-and-out actor?

"If they really have an affair, I hope the illegitimate daughter is Debra. That way, both the sinister Debra and Tiffany can be kicked out of the Wellington family. It would be a great way for Evelyn to vent her anger!" William said through gritted teeth.

Evelyn paused and softly asked, "Landon, has Ulysses contacted you in the past few days? When is Adrian coming to Mugden?"

"He called me, saying he's still negotiating with Adrian. He'll bring him to you as soon as possible."

Landon's long lashes fluttered as he gently patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, I'm here for you. Whatever you want, I'll give it to you. Whatever you want to achieve, I'll go through fire and water to help you."

"And me, too! I'll help you!" Peter's eyes lit up as he quickly raised his hand.

"And me." William smiled at her as warmly as ever.

Evelyn was moved, leaning softly on Landon's shoulder, and the fatigue of the day seemed to melt away.

After a long night, Eric finally returned to his and Molly's home, looking troubled.

Before he even got home, light snow had started to fall. By the time his luxury car pulled up to the villa, Ellen was already standing at the door with a large black umbrella, waiting for him for a long time.

"Mr. Clark, you're back."

Seeing Eric get out of the car, Ellen quickly held the umbrella over his head, exposing herself to the elements.

"Where's Molly? Is she asleep?" Eric asked eagerly.

"She's been waiting for you to come home. I tried to persuade her to sleep several times, but she wouldn't."

Ellen smiled helplessly but warmly. "Don't blame her; she just can't stop worrying about you."

Eric's throat tightened, a warm feeling spreading through his heart as he strode into the villa.

Afraid of bringing the cold to Molly, he changed into the pajamas Ellen had prepared for him downstairs and tiptoed upstairs, hoping to surprise Molly.

Eric gently pushed open the door. The bedside lamp was on, and a half-read book lay on the bed, but Molly was nowhere to be seen.

He felt a slight panic and was about to call out her name when he heard faint rustling sounds from the bathroom.

Without a second thought, he quickly walked to the bathroom door.

Inside, it suddenly went silent, not a sound to be heard.

"Molly?" Eric whispered.

Ever since Eric fell in love with Molly, his heart had been tied to her.

Hearing no more noise from the bathroom, he feared something had happened to her. He kicked the door open with a force that nearly sent it flying!

Standing in front of the mirror, Molly screamed in fright, covering her head with her hands and turning to face Eric.

Eric was stunned, his throat vibrating, producing a rough, heavy sound.

His trembling, heated gaze slowly descended, tracing her delicate face and finally landing on her moist, smooth breasts.

It didn't look big, but it was surprisingly round and full.

Eric's mind went blank, his eyes turning a shade of lustful red. His fingers clenched as if imagining, yearning, to hold something.

Molly, recognizing Eric's face, screamed again, closing her eyes tightly and crossing her thin arms over her breasts, turning away in panic.

Butit was of no use.

Her bare back, exposed to Eric's eyes, only fueled his raging emotions, making it hard for him to control himself.

"Molly, you, I, we..." Eric stammered, breathing heavily, his eyes fixed on her, red with desire.

"I-I just took a bath. I didn't know you'd be back now." Molly, trembling, her back to him, was both alluring and pitiable.

The bathroom was filled with steam, the white mist swirling around them, creating an ambiguous atmosphere.

Unable to resist, Eric, sweating profusely, walked towards her.
