Chapter 406 Let's Work Together!

The moment Gilbert stepped out of Charlie's car, the Taylor family was stunned.

Evelyn's eyebrows furrowed tightly.

Charlie was someone who looked down on everyone and was extremely arrogant.

Except for his children, no junior had ever been able to ride in his car. Even Edward, who held the highest status, was the most capable and influential among the juniors in Mugden, was not worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with him in Charlie's eyes.

But now, Gilbert was able to get close to Charlie. It would be a lie to say they weren't surprised.

If Evelyn remembered correctly, Charlie had been very cold towards Gilbert before. How did his attitude change so drastically in just a few days?

"Evelyn, you look so much better. That's great."

With a gentle smile in his eyes, Gilbert walked up to Evelyn with a bright pink bouquet in his hands and presented it to her. "Congratulations on your discharge, Evelyn."

Evelyn looked at the blooming roses in front of her, her eyelashes fluttering lightly.

"Thank you, Gilbert." She accepted the roses.

"Your favorite flowers, I picked them from the flower field this morning just for you." Gilbert's eyes sparkled with diamond-like sincerity.

The Taylor family exchanged glances, and the atmosphere became a bit subtle.

"Thank you for your thoughtfulness, but you didn't have to." Evelyn held the roses, her lips moving slightly, her eyes somewhat obscure.

"For you, I would do anything." Gilbert gazed deeply at her, unable to hide his tender affection.

Evelyn pressed her lips together, not knowing how to respond.

This blatant confession was even more intense than the roses in her hands.

Edward watched the interaction between Evelyn and Gilbert, feeling a sharp pain in his dry throat, a bitter and painful sensation, with a taste of blood rising.

The next second, his breath caught.

He saw Charlie's tall and upright figure step down from the Rolls-Royce, walking to Gilbert's side. The two stood side by side, like father and son.

Gilbert gave Charlie a warm smile, perfectly blending into the Taylor family.

Charlie patted his shoulder with a smile, saying something unknown, but the change in their relationship was evident.

Edward's eyes instantly turned red, and he punched the tree trunk hard!

He was unwilling to accept it.

But what could he do in the past? Make the Taylor family unhappy? Make Evelyn sad?

He couldn't hurt her anymore, absolutely not.

"I thought you were so capable, but it turns out you can only rage powerlessly here."

A mocking and sharp voice came from behind.

Edward slowly turned around, meeting Ulysses' mocking, dark eyes.

"Mr. Wellington, you seem quite pathetic now." Ulysses, who already disliked Edward, now made no effort to hide his sarcasm.

He was someone who fiercely protected his own, only caring about relationships, not reason.

No matter who it was, anyone who hurt Evelyn was not a good person!

"I know, I shouldn't appear in Evelyn's life anymore. But can't I even look at her from a distance?" Edward's voice was hoarse as if filled with gravel, his eyes bloodshot.

These past few days, he hadn't slept a wink, staying awake until dawn every night.

It felt like his heart and soul were being drained dry.

Ulysses squinted his eyes, standing shoulder to shoulder with him, also looking at Evelyn. "Edward, to be honest, I really despise you."

Edward pressed his thin lips together, lowering his eyes in dejection.

"But I don't like that Gilbert either. Evelyn is so good, I don't know why she can't meet a decent man, so we brothers don't have to worry so much about her!"

Ulysses glared at Gilbert, spitting on the ground. "Charlie, too, I just praised him for having some sense, but in a couple of days, he can't recognize people anymore. If he dares to let Evelyn marry this Gilbert, I'll crash the wedding!"

Edward remained silent.

He had seen rivals crash weddings, but never a brother.

But Ulysses was inherently fearless, nothing he did would be surprising.

"Edward." Ulysses glanced sideways at Edward. "If Gilbert really marries Evelyn one day, would you crash the wedding?"

Edward felt a stab in his heart, endless pain spreading through his body.

He didn't even dare to think about Gilbert and Evelyn would get married.

"Forget it. Neither you nor Gilbert deserves Evelyn! None of you are worthy!" Ulysses cursed, feeling he had asked a stupid question.

"I just want Evelyn to be happy. As long as she can be happy, I would do anything for her." Edward's throat choked, his voice almost breaking.

"Then can you help me ruin Evelyn and Gilbert's relationship? I can't stand seeing them together!" Ulysses gritted his teeth and asked bluntly.

Edward looked at him in surprise.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm not doing this to help you, I'm doing it for Evelyn's sake. As someone involved, she can't see through some people, but I can see very clearly from the side."

"Gilbert is full of bad intentions, I can't trust Evelyn with someone so scheming, I'm afraid she'll be taken advantage of." Ulysses was also worried sick for Evelyn.

Edward silently thought, 'I'm afraid too.'

"Let's work together to ruin their relationship." Ulysses cracked his knuckles.
