Chapter 39 Evelyn's Battle with Malicious Women

Once this statement came out, everyone was stunned and turned their attention to Tiffany. They had no idea that the beautiful woman in front of them was Edward's ex-wife; they felt that she must come from an extraordinary background. If she didn't have billions of dollars in her name, they wouldn't dare to provoke Patrick's wife.

Tiffany was so angry that she clenched her teeth and sneered, "Ms. Brown, having a powerful backing does make a difference for you now. I never realized you were so eloquent in the past."

Evelyn raised an eyebrow, completely unfazed by Tiffany's sarcasm. "I speak to you the way you speak to me. Different people deserve different attitudes. What does that have to do with my powerful backing?"

Tiffany's face turned red, completely overwhelmed with anger.
"Lily, how can you be so disrespectful when talking to an elder like my mom?" Debra immediately got angry when she saw her mother being humiliated and confronted Evelyn.

Evelyn smirked.

Debra inherited her mother's harshness, but she didn't inherit Tiffany's cunning. She couldn't be bothered to waste words with such a shallow woman.

"Are you guys out of your minds?"

William couldn't take it anymore and sternly stood in front of Evelyn, blocking her way. "Who was being picky with the food first? Who spoke rudely first? You all saw it, didn't you?"

"Not long ago, you had Mr. Taylor, and now there's this man. Ms. Brown, you really have quite a few courtiers." Nicole took the opportunity to mock from the side.

"Nicole, spreading rumors is easy, but have you ever thought about the consequences?" Evelyn's sharp gaze pierced through Nicole's face like a dagger.

Nicole flinched.

She used to think of this woman as a simple and easily bullied country girl. But now, she was starting to feel a hint of fear towards her. The more she got to know her, the harder it was to understand her.

"Ms. Brown, I genuinely think it's inappropriate for you to be here. We are only looking out for your best interests." Karen smiled with hidden intentions. "After all, in the past, due to your youthful ignorance, you intervened between Nicole and Edward, which has put you in a disadvantageous position now. Although you were at fault, we never blamed you. But now that Nicole and Edward are together, and you are his ex-wife, it's just not suitable for you to be around Edward anymore. After all, Nicole is about to marry Edward. How would you explain it if someone saw you?"

Upon hearing Karen's seemingly friendly yet belittling words towards Lily, Nicole revealed a dark and excited smirk.

She thought, "Indeed, I still have to rely on my mother. She has more experience."

After listening, the others looked at Evelyn with a mix of surprise and disdain.

They thought, "So she's the ex-wife Edward has been hiding. She's actually a homewrecker. So despicable."

"I ruined their relationship? Mrs. Adams, is your brain as broken as the furniture produced by the Adams Group?" Evelyn showed no signs of anger and instead laughed.

"You..." Karen's eyes turned red with anger.

"When Mr. Wellington and I got married, he was single. Your daughter couldn't handle the pressure and broke up with him. What does that have to do with me? And what has your daughter been up to in the three years that I've been married to Mr. Wellington? Should I list all the things she's done to cling to my husband?"

Nicole and Karen's faces turned pale, and Nicole was too scared even to utter a word.
During those three years, she, although in Mythorica, still found ways to ruin their relationship.
Furthermore, she had even sent Lily a series of vulgar text messages and cursed at her over the phone, while Lily always swallowed her pride and never fought back.
Now, if Lily truly revealed the truth, then her true identity would be exposed.
"William, bring it out and show them," Evelyn squinted slightly.
William understood and took out a small red book from his briefcase, opening it in front of them.
The wealthy women were astonished at what they saw.
One marriage certificate slapped Nicole and Karen loudly.
"Do you see? Mr. Wellington and I haven't officially divorced yet, and you couldn't resist trying to claim my title," Evelyn smiled brightly and confidently.
Nicole's face turned beet red.
She thought, 'This is too much. Who carries around their marriage certificate with them?'
But Evelyn was just this kind of unpredictable woman.
Of course, because she was always prepared to divorce Edward, she carried her marriage certificate with her.
And this time, the marriage certificate became her evidence, making those who defamed her speechless.
Karen and Tiffany were also completely speechless. After all, they were still legally married at this moment.
"Who is the third party? Who shouldn't be here? Everyone figured it out for yourselves."
After saying that, Evelyn put away the marriage certificate and left under the shocked gazes of everyone.
Nicole stood in place, feeling ashamed and furious.
...
In less than five minutes, the auction officially began, with almost all the VIPs taking their seats.
Tiffany and Debra sat in the third row, and from the moment they walked in, Debra's gaze revolved around Eric like a spinning top.
"So handsome..."
"The Clark family's charity event has such a high standard and tight security. I've pleaded multiple times, but they just won't let us switch to the first row."
Tiffany grumbled unwillingly, "You can rest assured. I will make sure you have an opportunity to get close to Mr. Clark in the future. With your talent, beauty, and noble background, Mr. Clark will definitely be captivated by you."
Although Eric was known as a playboy in Mugden, Tiffany was determined to have her daughter marry him in order to establish a connection with the Clark Group.
Moreover, Debra also really liked Eric, so it was a win-win situation that Tiffany naturally wanted to encourage.
"Mom, Edward, and Mr. Clark are good friends. Can you go talk to Edward and ask him to help me match up with Eric?" Debra pleaded.
Tiffany's eyes turned cold as she thought, 'I refuse to beg that illegitimate child.'
"What about Molly?"
"Definitely ran off somewhere again, didn't she? Mom, can you please not bring her next time? She runs around everywhere and gets angry as soon as a camera is pointed at her. It's embarrassing for us." Debra was very displeased with her younger sister.

"You know she's always had some issues," Tiffany sighed. "Now that she's twenty, I need to introduce her to more people. If someone is satisfied with her, I'll marry her off as soon as possible to fulfill my wish."

She was treating her daughter like merchandise as if it would become unsellable in a couple more years.

Nicole and Karen were even more upset.

There were over ten rows of seats at the auction, and they attended in their finest attire but were placed in the most inconspicuous back row.

"Mom, Edward is in the first row. I want to sit next to him," said Nicole eagerly, walking towards Edward. However, a bodyguard stopped her before she even took a few steps.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Adams, but the seating arrangement is fixed. You cannot switch seats," the bodyguard coolly replied.

"I can't? How dare you stop me? Do you know who I am?" Nicole raised her head arrogantly and asked.

"I know. You are Mr. Wellington's girlfriend," the bodyguard said indifferently.

Nicole didn't know what to say.

"But tonight's seating arrangement was personally arranged by the chairman of the Clark Group. Even if you were Mr. Wellington's wife, you still couldn't break this rule."

Nicole was so angry that her eyes widened, but Karen pulled her back.

"Enough. It's embarrassing to make a scene for a seat."

However, Karen saw Tiffany and her daughter sitting in the front row, chatting and laughing from a distance. Tiffany completely forgot about them, and Karen felt resentment.

Karen thought, 'My sister has always been like this since we were young, always doing things better than me. She said she would help me gain attention tonight, but it was just a lie.'

The venue was filled, with only Landon's seat remaining empty.

Edward casually glanced over for a moment but quickly averted his gaze.

"Mr. Taylor hasn't arrived yet? He wouldn't not show up, right?" Eric murmured in surprise.

Just then, the doors at the back of the venue opened.

Everyone's gaze turned towards the back, including Edward, who was usually indifferent and lacked curiosity.

In an instant, his breath caught, and he became excited.

He was stunned to see his ex-wife, wearing a black suit and high heels, bright makeup, and confident and steady steps, walking towards the first row without glancing at anyone else.

She appeared like a goddess descended from above.
