Chapter 351 What She Wants Is for Him to Disappear
Evelyn never expected that Edward would carry her to the room where she had lived alone for three years.
Originally, Edward intended to place her gently on the bed, but Evelyn was restless in his arms. With a sudden movement, she slipped from his grasp and landed heavily on the bed.
"It's your own fault for not staying still. I didn't mean to drop you," Edward said, looking down at her with a hint of amusement at her awkward state.
"You always find excuses for yourself!" Evelyn grumbled angrily, trying to get up from the bed, but Edward quickly grabbed her ankle, pinning her down.
"Let go of my foot! Are you a pervert?" Evelyn curled her legs, almost exposing herself under her skirt, feeling extremely embarrassed.
She had some skills, but they were nothing compared to Edward's.
Edward tightened his grip on her ankle, his calm yet intense gaze slowly moving from her flushed face to her entire body.
His breathing deepened, his blood heated, and his heart pounded loudly.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through Edward's head. He closed his eyes tightly, pressing his temples hard to fend off the sudden pain.
"Edward, it hurts; it hurts so much, Edward."
"Be good, it will stop hurting soon. I'll try to be gentle with you, I swear."
Fragments of unfamiliar scenes flashed in his mind, accompanied by breathy moans that made him blush.
It seemed like he had made love to a woman in this very room.
But how could that be? He had never touched any woman, ever.
Seeing Edward momentarily distracted, Evelyn instinctively kicked him in the abdomen.
"Get off me!"
She didn't use much force, and with Edward's tall and sturdy build, he should have been able to withstand it.
Unexpectedly, he staggered back a few steps and had to support himself against the wall to avoid falling.
Evelyn's eyes widened as she noticed his face turning pale and a thin layer of sweat forming on his forehead.
She hesitated for a moment, about to say something, but Edward's hoarse voice interrupted, "Why are you here to see Tiffany this time?"
"It's none of your business," Evelyn's eyes turned cold.
Edward was pained by her indifferent gaze and gritted his teeth, "If you're here to confront Tiffany about Joyce, I suggest you pick another day. Tonight is not the right time."
"Why not?"
Evelyn smirked, her slender waist straightened, and her long legs crossed elegantly. She sat there with a regal and untouchable charm, like a queen, "Is it because Maurice, Sophia, and your Jessica are all here? Are you afraid I'll ruin your plans?"
Edward frowned, "What plans?"
"Marriage talks," Evelyn's eyes sparkled with mockery.
"Evelyn! That's enough!" Edward's heart ached, his eyes bloodshot with anger.
"Congratulations, Mr. Wellington, on your upcoming marriage."
Evelyn ignored his anger, her smile growing wider as if she were genuinely congratulating him, "This time, Ms. Clark is young and beautiful, with a family background far superior to Nicole's. She's also Eric's sister, making it a perfect match. Patrick will be very pleased with this daughter-in-law, and it will boost your position in the company."
"Do you think I care about that?" Edward was furious.
"Who cares if you do or don't? Stay out of my business, and I won't meddle in yours. I'm leaving."
Evelyn had come to confront Tiffany tonight and didn't want to be troubled by Edward. She just wanted to leave the room quickly.
Some memories only brought pain.
Evelyn stood up swiftly, treating Edward like he was invisible, and tried to walk past him quickly.
As they brushed past each other, Edward's face turned icy. He grabbed her arm and forcefully pinned her against the wall.
Evelyn's vision blurred, and her back ached from the impact.
In front of her, Edward's bloodshot eyes were both beautiful and suffocating.
Evelyn exclaimed, "Edward! Are you crazy?"
"Did we make love before?"
Edward's lip brushed past her burning ear, making her heart skip a beat. She was stunned, "Edward, what are you talking about?"
"Nothing." Edward's Adam's apple bobbed dryly, and he shook his head forcefully.
He must be going crazy.
Why would he ask her such a provocative question?
But what about those vivid images in his mind?
"Stop bothering me, Edward."
Evelyn's heart was pounding, but she still pushed against his chest with determination, her cheeks burning. "You saved my life, and I don't want to hate you. But if you keep pestering me, I won't show you any mercy!"
"Evelyn, do you really despise me that much? Do you distrust me that much?" Edward knew he sounded like a scorned lover.
But someone who loved deeply and got no response slowly turned into a hopelessly scorned lover, gradually losing control and going mad!
"Edward, do you know how much I hate being in this room?"
Evelyn forced a smile. "Coming back here only reminds me of countless lonely nights, unrequited love, and heart-wrenching pain. Honestly, you should be with Jessica because in her world, you're perfect. But in my world, you're completely broken, beyond repair. I wish us both happiness in our future lives. I hope our paths never cross again."
Never cross again.
Well said, Evelyn. Well said.
Edward felt a pain like he was dying, slowly releasing his grip on her. Anger burned in his veins, churning in his chest.
He had wanted to explain something.
But he suddenly realized that Evelyn never wanted an explanation. She didn't care if he was truly innocent.
What she wanted was for him to disappear from her life completely.
Eric's evidence, though not direct, was strong circumstantial evidence.
Things were getting complicated.
Fortunately, only the Wellington and Clark families were present tonight. If this had been made public in front of outsiders or the media, Jessica's reputation would have been completely ruined.
Sensing the tense atmosphere and Eric's unwillingness to back down, Maurice decided to leave and get to the bottom of the matter.
"Eric, Jessica, come with me!" Maurice said, standing up with his cane.
"Mr. Clark, are you leaving just like that? Is Jessica's marriage settled?" A clear voice rang out as Evelyn descended the stairs with a smile, her steps light.
It was as if the Wellington family's Riverside Villa was the Taylor family's Oasis Villa, her presence far more commanding than Tiffany's.
Tiffany's face turned grim again.
"Ms. Taylor, I'm delighted by your presence. You and Edward are old acquaintances. You must have a lot to catch up on. We won't disturb you," Maurice said, his expression sour. Evelyn's appearance had indeed disrupted their plans.
"Oh no, Mr. Clark, don't misunderstand. Mr. Wellington and I have nothing to talk about. Just consider him crazy earlier. After all, as his ex-wife, I didn't understand what he was thinking for three years."
Maurice fell silent.
Evelyn openly admitted her identity as his ex-wife, so candidly that Maurice didn't know what to say.
At that moment, Edward followed, just in time to hear her words, his handsome face darkening with frustration.
"Mrs. Wellington, shall we talk?" Evelyn coldly eyed Tiffany.
"Sorry, Ms. Taylor, it's late, and I need to rest. I don't have time for chit-chat. Maybe another day," Tiffany said, her tone clearly resistant, knowing Evelyn's intentions were not good.
"You may not have time, but I do. I'm quite free," Evelyn said with a light smile, walking leisurely in front of everyone. "The night is long, and we can slowly discuss our grievances. I'll keep you company until dawn."
"I'm too old to keep up with you. Please leave!" Tiffany's expression darkened, her attitude turning firm.
Edward and Eric both clenched their fists, their expressions changing.
When it came to Evelyn being bullied, they were united. Anything could be discussed, but seeing her bullied was absolutely unacceptable!
"I originally wanted to talk to you privately, as family matters shouldn't be aired in public. But since you insist, don't blame me for not sparing your dignity."
Evelyn's smile vanished, her voice turning cold. "At the last birthday party, Joyce was attacked by a thug. That incident is closely related to you, isn't it?"
Everyone was shocked, turning to Tiffany!
The Clark family members, who were about to leave, stopped in their tracks at her words!
"Ms. Taylor, I know you don't like me, but you don't have to slander me like this," Tiffany's heart raced, her palms sweating profusely, but she tried to remain calm.
"Fine, let me put it another way."
Evelyn smiled again, a mischievous smile that almost made Tiffany explode with anger. "The thug who tried to harm Joyce and ended up seriously injuring Mr. Wellington is an old acquaintance of yours, right?"
