Chapter 430 Take Good Care of Yourself from Now on
Adrian's back slammed heavily against the bookshelf, causing books to fall, with one even hitting his head, making his ears ring with pain!
"Landon! What are you doing?"
"I told you, but you didn't listen."
Landon saw that Adrian was hurt; his heart tightened for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. "Adrian, Evelyn does need your help, but that doesn't mean you can do whatever you want with me."
"What happened that night ends here. If you behave, we're still family. If you continue like this, I don't even know what I'll do to you next time."
He was never a person with a good temper.
Among all the children of the Taylor family, Landon was the one with the worst temper. If it were ten years ago, any man who dared to get close to him would have been beaten up.
"Landon, so you're not going to acknowledge what you did to me that night?" Adrian clenched his fists, his voice trembling.
"We hugged, kissed, and then what else did we do?"
Landon slowly turned his leather chair around, took off his glasses, and his cold, restrained lips lifted slightly.
"Adrian, you know very well what happened that night. If it weren't for your initiative, nothing would have happened."
"But you could have refused me like you did just now, Landon, but you didn't!" Adrian glared at him angrily. "So you like me, you have feelings for me! If not, with your personality, even if I stripped naked and threw myself at you, you wouldn't accept me!"
"Adrian, I've investigated you. Your romantic history in Mythorica is quite colorful. I've heard you've played around the entire gay circle in Mythorica, and the number of men you've had sex with is countless."
"Landon." Adrian was stunned, feeling as if he were standing naked in front of him.
"I want to ask you, when you slept with those men, did you like them?"
Adrian's heart tightened.
Like? When had he ever truly liked anyone?
Those one-night stands were just a way to pass the long, lonely nights. He was just lonely and wanted someone to keep him company.
"You must already have the answer in your heart. Coincidentally, my feelings for you are the same as your answer." Landon's expression was cold. "We're all adults, don't be such a sore loser."
A wave of uncontrollable pain surged in Adrian's heart. Just as he was about to say something, there was a knock on the door, followed by Donna's voice.
"Landon, Adrian, are you in there? Can I come in?"
Landon took a deep breath, got up, and walked to the door to open it himself.
"Aunt Donna." He instantly put on a gentle smile.
"Landon, were you two chatting? I just heard something fall in the study. Is everything okay?" Donna cautiously peeked into the study.
"It's fine, Aunt Donna. Are you looking for me or Adrian?" Landon asked calmly.
"I'm looking for you." Donna paused, then said in a low voice, "Next week, Charlie and I will be attending a horse show in Mugden. It's very important for a major project."
She quickly added, "It's not that I have to go. I also asked Charlie to take Joyce and Susan. But the Wellington family will be there, and Tiffany will be present. Joyce won't go, and Susan is interested in the horse show, but if we all go, the media might write nonsense."
"Aunt Donna, I understand, you don't need to explain. All these years, you've been accompanying Dad to big events because of your calm personality and thorough consideration. Dad feels at ease with you by his side." Landon replied considerately.
"Charlie also said that not only the Wellington family, but the Clark family and the Alexander family will also be there."
Landon's eyes darkened. "I see. I'll have Evelyn avoid it."
Donna sighed, looking troubled. "I thought of that too and told Charlie, but he insists that Evelyn must attend. He says there's something important to discuss."
"Something important?" Landon frowned slightly.
"I asked him, but Charlie didn't say."
Donna looked worried. "Landon, you must go that day. No matter what happens, we must protect Evelyn and not let anyone bully her!"
"Of course. Aunt Donna, thank you for telling me this."
After Landon left, Donna entered the study.
"Adrian, what happened just now? Did you argue with Landon?"
Adrian squatted down, picking up the scattered books one by one, his back to Donna, his voice muffled.
"No, it's nothing."
"Don't lie to me. The noise was so loud, I heard it from outside, but I couldn't hear what you were talking about."
Donna looked at him reproachfully. "Landon has such a good temper. I've never seen him angry in all these years, and you've only been here a few days and made him like this? It must be your fault!"
Adrian got anxious hearing this. "What did I do wrong? It's Landon who wronged me!"
"Adrian! Don't talk nonsense! You've become more arrogant after being out there for a few years without anyone to control you!"
"If you want to live here for a long time, you naturally have to get along with the Taylor family. But I can leave anytime, I don't need to please them!"
Adrian suddenly felt he had gone too far, but it was too late to regret it.
Donna's expression darkened, a bitter feeling rising in her heart.
The air suddenly became awkwardly silent.
Adrian bit his lip in embarrassment, just about to say something to ease the tension, when Donna spoke softly, "Adrian, I'm sorry. I know I've embarrassed you and the Mays family. I'm a lifelong stain on the Mays family."
"No, Donna, I didn't mean that."
"I know, I'm not fit to be your elder, nor to control you. I'm very happy you came back this time. Take good care of yourself."
With that, Donna left with her head down, looking desolate.
"Donna!"
Adrian felt even more guilty and wanted to chase after her, but then he noticed something.
Among the fallen books, there was a hidden compartment in the now-empty bookshelf.
Normally, it would be completely hidden by the books.
Adrian was stunned. He reached in and knocked. It was hollow!
He pressed his lips together, a strong curiosity welling up inside him.
After Eric and Bart left, Edward hadn't seen Evelyn come out of her room.
When it was time to eat, no matter how much he knocked, she wouldn't come out to see him, only saying she felt unwell and had no appetite.
Edward didn't know what was wrong with her. She was fine in the morning, so why the sudden change?
He stood at the door, trying to recall what he had done wrong.
Nothing. He hadn't done anything.
Just as Edward was at a loss, the doorbell rang downstairs.
At that moment, Evelyn's door also opened.
