Chapter 314 Carrying Shamelessness to the End

Betty's face turned pale as if struck by lightning; her mind went blank!

Edward sat there, looking around and holding back his laughter.

However, he could somewhat understand Betty's predicament.

Simon saw Betty's clear and beautiful face turn red.

Originally, he was a bit resentful about the "sugar mommy" thing, but seeing her embarrassed and cute look, he inexplicably couldn't stay mad at her.

"Evelyn," Betty looked pitifully at Evelyn, who was full of smiles, "You won't disown me as your apprentice because of this, will you?"

Evelyn placed her slender index finger on her chin, frowning, pretending to ponder.

"Evelyn," Betty was about to cry.

Evelyn walked up to her seriously. She paused for two seconds before breaking into a bright smile, "What are you thinking? Why you're so worried about such a trivial matter? If I disown you as my apprentice, wouldn't I be left without a successor?"

A weight had been lifted off Betty's shoulders, but she was still very embarrassed.

"Besides, I know what a good girl you are. If you scolded Simon, it must be his fault," Evelyn glanced at Simon with a hint of reproach, softly comforting Betty.

Simon's eyebrows twitched. Although he felt a bit wrong, he could only be angry but not dare to speak out.

Who would have thought that this woman, who crashed into his car halfway and flirted with him, would have such a good relationship with Evelyn?

At this moment, another group of people arrived. The atmosphere instantly became lively.

Donna, Susan, Landon, Jennifer, Peter, who was busy with work but dragged over by Donna, and Eric and Molly, who rushed over.

Everyone came over to hug Evelyn or chat with her enthusiastically. The group was full of laughter and joy.

The cheerful and warm atmosphere attracted the amazed gazes of the surrounding guests.

Amid the joyful and harmonious atmosphere, Edward sat alone. His melancholic eyes watching Evelyn being surrounded, cared for, and loved by family and friends like the center of attention.

His beautiful eyes sparkled with longing and envy, and then they quietly became moist.

This was the life that originally belonged to Evelyn.

For the past twenty years, she had been so happy; she was pampered and loved by many.

The only suffering she experienced was all given by him.

Edward sat there, dumbfounded and unnoticed, despite being a charismatic figure in the business world who held great power in the Wellington family.

He pressed his lips awkwardly, took a deep breath, and made a silent resolution.

He would still protect her with his life, shielding her from the wind and rain, without any falsehood. Even if, in the end, Evelyn didn't end up with him.

"Molly? You came too!" Evelyn pinched Molly's soft face, her eyes brimming with joy.

Molly shyly pursed her lips, holding her teddy bear tightly, looking pitiful, "Evelyn, I missed you and Edward. I wanted to see you both, so I came."

Seeing Molly holding the teddy bear she had given her in such a setting, Evelyn was deeply moved and gently stroked her hair, "Molly, I missed you too."

Then she coldly glanced at Eric, her voice low, "You brought Molly here? From Tiffany's birthday party?"

"Yes, it was me," Eric squinted his eyes and smiled, openly admitting it.

"And you still have the nerve to smile?" Evelyn's beautiful eyes were filled with resentment and anger. She turned and sharply poked his shoulder with her finger, "You only care about being with Molly and your happiness. Have you thought about Molly? You took Molly away so openly, what will happen when she goes back? Patrick and Tiffany will blame her!"

"Go back? Why should Molly go back to such a home?" Eric raised his sharp eyebrows, his eyes shining with happiness, "Molly has been living with me for a while now."

Evelyn was shocked, "What did you say?"

"I've already put one of my properties in Molly's name. From now on, that's her home too. If she's unhappy withthe Wellington family, she can come live at the villa," Eric's long eyes glanced at Molly with endless tenderness.

Evelyn was furious, "When did this happen?"

Edward also couldn't stay calm. He strode over to Eric, his starry eyes faintly angry, "Eric, you dare to live with Molly without permission? You've got some nerve."

"We're just living together! We didn't do anything!" Eric felt wronged, eagerly explaining to her.

So many women throw themselves at him, wishing they could crawl into his bed. But only with Molly, besides hugging and kissing, he hadn't even unbuttoned her clothes. He couldn't bear to touch her.

Being able to stay with Molly, he was already very satisfied.

"Eric, do you even believe what you're saying?" Evelyn gritted her teeth in anger, her eyes red.

Eric didn't know how to earn their trust.

"Edward! Evelyn!" Molly hurriedly stepped forward and firmly stood in front of Eric, her soft face flushed with urgency, "Don't blame Eric. It's me who wants to be with Eric!"

Edward and Evelyn were both shocked!

Eric's eyes warmed, and his heart pounded fiercely.

He opened his arms and hugged Molly from behind, his chiseled jaw resting on her soft hair, and the teddy bear held by Molly, gave a sense of a family of three.

"Molly, after the party, I'll take you to stay with Grandpa, okay?" Evelyn looked into Molly's clear eyes, asking gently.

Biting her lower lip, Molly lowered her eyes sadly.

Evelyn was stunned and sighed, "Do you just want to be with him?"

Molly slowly lifted her eyes, her crystal-clear gaze deeply meeting Evelyn's.

She didn't speak, but Evelyn could read her thoughts from her expressive eyes.

"It's rare for Molly to have someone she likes and to be so persistent about someone. Evelyn, let Molly have some time to relax. If she feels happy and comfortable with Eric, let them be together and see how it goes," Edward turned his face, gently comforting her by her ear, with a hint of humble pleading.

"I can see that Molly has feelings for him. I'm not trying to break them up; I'm just worried." Evelyn turned her eyes to meet his intense gaze.

"I know," Edward showed a considerate smile, his words were simple and powerful, "But don't forget, behind Molly, there's not just you, she also has me."

Evelyn's heart trembled, and she quickly looked away.

This was Edward, a man of few words, never wasting them. But every word he spoke was real and effective.

Except for Charlie and Joyce,  tonight's main character, the whole family sat at Evelyn's table.

Edward stubbornly sat next to Evelyn, no matter how many disdainful, angry, or resentful glances were cast at him, he remained calm and unmoved.

He remained thick-skinned to the very end.

"Edward, you're sitting in the wrong place," Peter, straightforward as always, stared coldly at Edward's calm face across the round table. He looked at Edward as if he were a suspect, "This table is for the Taylor family members and friends. What are you doing here?"

The table fell silent, everyone staring at Edward.

Facing the ridicule, he only raised a graceful smile. His gentle eyes deeply gazed at the indifferent Evelyn beside him, "I'm not sitting in the wrong place. Wherever Evelyn sits, I sit."

Evelyn almost spat out a mouthful of water, turning her face sharply to glare at the self-satisfied Edward!

Peter cursed under his breath, turning to drink water.

"I don't know what the rules are in the Wellington family, but in the Taylor family, people eat at the table, and dogs don't," Susan's words were like knives, directly calling Edward a dog.

Edward's eyebrows twitched slightly, his chiseled jawline tensing.

Being called a dog, no one would be happy.

Although he admired Evelyn and wanted to present a good image in front of her family, it didn't mean the Taylor family could trample on his dignity.

"Alright, Grandpa is here tonight too. For his sake, let's all just enjoy the meal," Evelyn felt it was going too far and spoke up to ease the situation for Edward.

"Evelyn," At this moment, William hurried to Evelyn's side, whispering in her ear, "Mr. Gilbert Alexander is here."

Edward's sharp ears caught it, and his face darkened.

"I thought he wouldn't come. If he's here, greet him and lead him to the Alexander family table," Evelyn instructed calmly.

"The situation is a bit special," William paused, lowering his voice, "Mrs. Alexander came with Gilbert."

"What? Mrs. Alexander is here too?" Evelyn's beautiful eyes widened in surprise.

"Yes, they're just outside the banquet hall. What should we do?"

Without a word, Evelyn got up and walked towards the banquet hall entrance with William.

Edward immediately felt the warm presence that haunted his soul disappear. His heart felt both bitter and blocked, and the veins on his hand gripping the glass stood out, almost crushing the glass.
