Chapter 436 Get Me a Gun

Gilbert turned his back on them and merely curled his slender fingers.

Sarah pressed her lips together tightly and handed the envelope to Curtis, who then passed it to him.

In the past, besides Evelyn, she was the only woman qualified to get close to Gilbert. She could sit on his lap and flirt with him like lovers, and she could joke with him without any consequences. Gilbert never got angry with her.

Everyone who followed Gilbert naturally believed that Gilbert liked her and pampered her.

Only Sarah knew in her heart that she was nothing.

Gilbert merely used her as the cheapest substitute. When he was happy, he would tease her to satisfy his desires. When he was unhappy, he would abuse her at will. A mere flick of his finger could make her disappear without a trace.

So, she no longer took the initiative to get close to him. Even making eye contact with him filled her with immense fear.

Curtis handed the envelope to Gilbert with both hands.

Gilbert put down his wine glass, took the envelope, and slowly opened it.

Suddenly, Gilbert sprang up from the sofa, an overwhelming and chilling aura emanating from him like a storm, causing Curtis and Sarah to hurriedly step back two paces, trembling.

The next moment, a loud crash was heard.

Gilbert's eyes turned bloodshot as he roared in anger, kicking over the entire round coffee table with one foot!

"Damn it!"

Gilbert flung the photos in his hand into the air, his blood-red eyes like those of an enraged beast in the dim light!

Curtis and Sarah picked up the photos, both shocked!

Even fully armed, they could still recognize at a glance.

The outstanding couple embracing and kissing were Edward and Evelyn!

"How is this possible? How could it be?"

Gilbert clutched his chest, trembling all over. He felt as if a highly destructive bomb had been planted in his heart, causing his entire being to shake violently, as if the world were collapsing!

"Why? Evelyn hated him before, even in front of me. Why are they still together? Why?"

"Mr. Alexander, please calm down!"

Curtis tried his best to comfort him, "Maybe it's just a misunderstanding? Maybe our people got it wrong."

"I know Evelyn very well."

Gilbert touched his forehead, which was burning with anger, and slumped back onto the sofa. "She hates him so much that she wouldn't even look at him, let alone touch him!"

"Even if they didn't kiss, Edward still held her, and they went grocery shopping together in private."

As he spoke, Gilbert took deep breaths, gritting his teeth, but couldn't stop the tears from streaming down.

Curtis and Sarah were both dumbfounded.

They had followed Gilbert for so many years, but it was the first time they saw him cry over a woman, and cry so heartbreakingly.

He must love Evelyn deeply, love her to the point of madness.

But why would Evelyn rather be with Edward, who had once heartlessly abandoned her and hurt her so badly, than look at Gilbert?

Curtis kept signaling to Sarah.

But Sarah just hung her head, her eyes downcast, not daring to get close to Gilbert.

In the past, as a substitute, a plaything, she could approach him to please him.

But now, she was very self-aware.

As a substitute, she no longer had any value to Gilbert because his feelings for Evelyn were too deep. No one could replace her, not even temporarily.

Gilbert asked Curtis to bring the syringe. At this moment, only an injection could calm his anger.

Otherwise, he might very well go and shoot Edward in front of Evelyn!

"Mr. Alexander," Curtis put away the syringe and wiped his sweat, "You should try to avoid using this stuff in the future. Although it can bring temporary pleasure and effectively relieve pain, it's still a banned substance. Mythorica hasn't even entered clinical trials yet, and we don't know what side effects it might have."

"I know, just this once, no more after this."

Gilbert closed his eyes and exhaled slowly. "How could a drug dealer be controlled by drugs?"

"The one who has become my inner demon is not the drug, but Evelyn."

"Send these photos to Charlie anonymously."

Gilbert suddenly showed a sinister and crazed smile, "Charlie loves Evelyn dearly; he won't stand by and watch her repeat the same mistakes."

"Yes, Mr. Alexander."

Just as Curtis was about to leave, Gilbert called him back, "What's the date today?"

"March 6th, Mr. Alexander."

His eyes narrowed slightly, glinting with an inscrutable light in the dark.

"March 6th, Caleb..."

At that moment, his phone rang.

That night, Evelyn was particularly considerate. After having dinner with Edward, she went back to her room to rest and didn't disturb him further.

Edward was alone in his room, looking at the black suit Bart had brought for tomorrow's funeral, constantly making phone calls, coordinating with Eric and his men, and planning the trip to Torontow.

"Has Landon sent people over too?"

"No news yet, but I think what I know, Landon must know too. He won't sit idly by."

Edward furrowed his brows and nodded, "Alright, I need to catch Lloyd first."

"It doesn't matter who catches him, Edward. You don't need to be so competitive." Eric was helpless; Edward had always hated losing.

Otherwise, Edward wouldn't have fought so fiercely with Evelyn back then. He probably regretted it now, almost losing his wife because of it!

"Evelyn has everything; I have nothing to give her."

Edward lowered his eyes, exuding a pitiful sense of humility, "What she wants now is revenge. So I must help her achieve it, no matter the cost."

"Alright then. Edward, don't worry. When we get to Torontow, my men will do their best to protect you!" Eric promised confidently.

"Don't worry about me; I was in the military. Just take care of yourself."

Edward paused and said softly, "If something happens to you, I'm afraid Molly will be heartbroken. She has never been loved so passionately in her life, never had anything truly belong to her."

"You know how important you are to her, right?"

Eric took a deep breath and shouted excitedly, "Edward! Does this mean you acknowledge my status?"

Edward pulled the phone away from his ear, frowning. "Why are you shouting in the middle of the night?"

Eric was still extremely excited.

Edward felt very awkward.

"Edward, if we come back safely this time, I'll plan to discuss marriage with your family. You have to help me with all your might!" Eric's voice trembled with excitement.

"You are the eldest son of the Clark family, your status is high enough. Patrick has no reason to oppose this marriage. Tiffany also..."

Edward suddenly let out a cold laugh, "Forget about her. Someone about to go to prison has no right to preside over her children's marriage."

"True."

"By the way, get me a gun."

Eric gasped, Edward asking for a gun as casually as asking for a fork and knife.
