Chapter 72 I Forbid You to Hurt Him Again!
Edward bit his reddened thin lips, feeling a headache coming on, which sobered him up instantly.
Edward had never initiated a kiss with a woman.
The only two times it happened, Nicole had made the first move, and Edward had only allowed Nicole to kiss the corner of his lips.
But unexpectedly, this time, the frenzy that Edward unleashed on Evelyn's lips couldn't be controlled and wouldn't stop. Edward couldn't understand it.
"I drank too much tonight. I've been feeling out of it the whole time." Edward leaned back weakly, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I can't drink like this anymore. It's too risky."
"You harassed her while drunk! You forced a kiss on Lily!" Eric clenched his fists, seething with anger, pacing in circles. If Edward hadn't just been seriously injured, Eric would have wanted to beat him up again!
The strong liquor stirred up uncontrollable emotions.
However, Edward had to admit that the moment Lily's lips touched his, the unexpectedly sweet taste was surprisingly pleasant.
"I'm tired. I need to rest." Edward felt frustrated and restless.
"Edward, you have no compassion. Harassing someone should be done at an appropriate time! Lily is still injured. She had to get several stitches. How could you take advantage of her like this while she's hurt?" Eric, feeling sorry for Lily, asked angrily.
Edward felt nervous and worried.
Evelyn rushed into the bathroom to freshen up, repeatedly splashing her flushed face with cold water, then dragged her exhausted body out of the hospital.
Her eyes showed a blend of desire and anger.
They were divorced, so Edward shouldn't have kissed Evelyn. He shouldn't have harassed her like this. Taking advantage of Evelyn while drunk, using her as a tool for his desires, was despicable!
"Evelyn!"
At that moment, a tall figure hurriedly approached Evelyn and tightly embraced her.
"Evelyn! I'm sorry I'm late!" Landon's eyes were glistening with concern.
"Landon, I'm fine," Evelyn replied.
Landon knew Evelyn's left shoulder was injured and didn't dare touch it, so he gently held her. "Is the wound still hurting? I'll take you to the best orthopedic surgeon at our Taylor family's hospital."
"I'm really fine." Evelyn composed herself after the turmoil caused by Edward, taking a deep breath, and her eyes turned cold again.
"Where's Ulysses? Bring him over to see me!" Evelyn ordered.
Evelyn's mansion was tense that night.
Landon sat a bit far away at the table, sipping coffee, appearing indifferent to the situation.
Simon and William stood on either side of Evelyn, two large men about six feet tall who now seemed somewhat small under Evelyn's dominant presence.
"Evelyn, Ulysses is your brother. Maybe you shouldn't be so angry," William whispered as he sweated nervously.
"It's true, Evelyn. Ulysses is a professional agent. He knows how to handle things. He just wanted to help you deal with that scumbag Edward." Simon could sense the killing intent emanating from Evelyn and felt a bit uneasy.
"A professional agent? I think he's more like a professional assassin!"
Evelyn coldly glared at Simon. "Simon, when you called me earlier, you were worried that Ulysses would harm Edward. It's only been a few hours, and you've changed sides?"
"Ah! So, it was you who spilled the beans, Simon!" Ulysses squinted fiercely at Simon, teeth clenched. "If you keep talking to me like this, how can I not give you a lesson?"
"You dare speak to me like that? Show some respect! Evelyn, don't be kind. Ulysses needs to be taught a lesson, you should give him one!" Seeing that reasoning didn't work, Simon decided to kick Ulysses while he was down!
After all, Ulysses wasn't going to get away tonight, and Simon desired to live a few more years.
"Ulysses Brown! Are you still refusing to admit your mistake?" Evelyn was very angry.
"Where did I go wrong? Is it wrong to beat up a man who hurt you, my own sister? Is that my mistake?" Ulysses stood tall, defiant.
"You fool!" Evelyn slapped the armrest of the sofa hard, but the movement was too strong and it aggravated her shoulder injury, causing her to wince and shrink back in pain.
"What's wrong, Evelyn?"
"Evelyn, are you okay? Don't scare me!"
"Evelyn, how are you? I'll have a car ready to take you to the hospital right away!"
Landon, Simon, William, and Ulysses, suddenly became very concerned, surrounding Evelyn with anxiety.
Ulysses knelt in front of Evelyn, gently took her delicate hand and pressed it against his chest, his face turning pale with fear. "Evelyn! Did I hurt your wound? It's all my fault! You can hit me, scold me, whatever you want!"
"Do you realize your mistake now?" Evelyn breathed lightly, a thin layer of sweat forming on her forehead.
"I..." Ulysses thought of Evelyn shielding him from the bullet, regret piercing his heart like a needle. "Evelyn, I just care about you. I can't bear to see my beloved sister suffer because of Edward! You are our cherished one. We've always cherished and protected you, not left you to be hurt by Edward! If Edward makes you sad, he must pay the price!"
"Ulysses, I'll say this one more time, the last time." Evelyn's eyes turned red in an instant. "When I married Edward, it was my choice, no one forced me. I knew Edward loved someone else, and I knew Edward was heartless. I thought I could change him. I thought I could make him fall in love with me, but I failed in the end. Since I failed, I have to take responsibility for my choice back then. It has nothing to do with Edward. It's my problem. So, I forbid you to cause trouble for Edward again. I forbid you to hurt him!"
After speaking, Ulysses was shocked. "Evelyn, it’s hard for me to let this go."
Evelyn sighed, hurt in her eyes. "Truth be told, I loved Edward for so long. Even though we're divorced now, Edward still holds a place in my heart. Can't we just let everything end peacefully? Why do you have to do this when I'm ready to start anew, entangling me and Edward, causing us to continue hurting each other? When you hit Edward, did you ever consider my feelings?"
"Evelyn! I was wrong! Please give me another chance. I'll do anything you ask! I won't bother Edward again!" Ulysses pleaded repeatedly, tears in his eyes.
Ulysses, who had carried out numerous dangerous missions, never furrowed his brow, but seeing that Evelyn couldn't forgive him, he was terrified.
"Evelyn..."
Evelyn's eyes, filled with sorrow, flashed a cunning light, and she pouted gently. "Then, come home with me to meet Charlie and have dinner with him before you leave."
Landon and Simon exchanged glances, now understanding the purpose.
Ulysses didn't want to, but he had to compromise to appease Evelyn.
"Alright! I'll go back with you!"
