Chapter 442 Embrace
Evelyn didn't avoid Edward's sincere gaze this time.
Her heart was like a surging ocean. To what extent must a man love you that every time he saw you, his eyes were moist, as if tears could fall at any moment?
Tiffany and Debra were blocked by Evelyn and Edward in front and surrounded by reporters behind, feeling so trapped that they were about to cry!
At that moment, May stepped forward, took out her phone, and played a recording in front of everyone.
The room fell silent, and the recording was crystal clear, unbearable to hear.
It was Tiffany's usual verbal abuse of the servants at home!
Everyone was shocked!
"Oh my God! Record this quickly!"
"Is this the behavior of a tycoon's wife? It's so vulgar!"
Debra turned pale with fear. She often tormented the servants, too, and was terrified that the next recording would feature her voice.
"Come on, everyone! Take a look at how our elegant and noble Mrs. Wellington treats her servants with such grace and magnanimity!" May raised her phone and shouted.
"May! How dare you mess with me! Stop playing it!"
Tiffany, her face flushed with anger, rushed forward to grab the phone, but the Taylor family's bodyguards blocked her firmly, preventing her from getting close to May.
So, in the media's cameras, it looked like Tiffany was flailing wildly.
"Can't handle just one recording? I have plenty more. This is just the tip of the iceberg of your years of abusing the servants."
With that, May played another recording.
This one started with a loud slap, unmistakable to anyone listening.
"Kimberly! Are you incompetent? You can't even handle such a small task! The Wellington family doesn't keep useless people!" Tiffany's shrill voice came through, as grating as nails on a chalkboard.
Tiffany's face turned deathly pale, and she trembled all over.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Wellington, I'll clean it up right away!"
Kimberly's pained voice came through, tugging at everyone's heartstrings.
"Kimberly! Didn't you hear me calling you? Are you deaf?" Debra's voice appeared, unmistakably mother and daughter with Tiffany.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Wellington, I'm coming right away."
The evidence was irrefutable; they couldn't deny it even if they wanted to!
Simon, seething with anger, stepped forward to point at Tiffany's nose and curse, but Landon and Peter held him back.
"Simon, you look too fierce when you lose your temper," Ulysses said, shaking his head.
Evelyn's eyes were red with anger, and her throat felt like it was being pierced.
Edward held her stiff waist tightly, silently comforting her nearly breaking emotions, but his hand on her waist was trembling with bulging veins; he was barely holding it together himself.
With Tiffany and Debra's true faces exposed, the reporters were in an uproar.
"Let's go, we need to leave now!"
Tiffany gritted her teeth and pulled Debra to push through the crowd.
But at that moment, Evelyn and Edward felt a chilling wind pass by.
They looked up to see Kimberly's grandmother, expressionless, carrying a steaming pot of soup. Without a word, she poured it over Tiffany's head!
Tiffany screamed, her scalp burning!
She reeked of a foul stench, more humiliated than she had ever been in her life!
Debra, unable to dodge, was also splashed, almost vomiting on the spot from the disgust!
Everyone was in immense shock, including Evelyn and Edward.
Who could have imagined that the elderly woman, who had been bedridden with grief over losing her only relative just days ago, was now filled with the strength to avenge her, glaring at Tiffany with iron-like resolve!
It was deeply admirable.
Tiffany and Debra, who had arrived so grandly, now fled in disgrace, reeking and humiliated.
Their departure took the reporters with them, as they were eager to write about Tiffany's "glorious" deeds.
Although it started in chaos, Kimberly's funeral eventually concluded smoothly.
After the commotion caused by Tiffany and Debra, Kimberly's grandmother, exhausted and overwhelmed with grief, fainted and was rushed to the hospital by the Taylor family for the best care and treatment.
In the lounge, Evelyn sat on the sofa, still looking despondent.
Although they had won this battle, thinking about the abuse and bullying Tiffany and Debra inflicted on Kimberly in May's recordings made her body tremble with anger, her heart aching as if pierced by a thousand arrows.
Landon and Simon went to handle the aftermath, needing to control the reporters. Even though Edward had declared war on the national media, they still needed to protect Evelyn.
Peter wanted to stay with Evelyn, but he had to leave to handle a case at the police station.
In the lounge with her were William, Jennifer, Ulysses, and Edward.
"Is the air conditioning on? Why does it feel a bit cold?" Evelyn asked, hugging her arms to her chest.
"No, Evelyn."
Jennifer looked worried. "Evelyn, are you feeling sick? I'll get you a blanket."
Just as she was about to leave, Edward swiftly took off his suit jacket and wrapped it tightly around Evelyn, his caring manner like cradling a baby.
Evelyn's long, wet eyelashes lifted, her heart trembling.
Edward, kneeling on one knee before her, gazed deeply into her red, beautiful eyes, as if looking into the most tender and painful corner of her heart.
"Evelyn, I know what you're thinking, I understand you." Edward's words were simple and gentle, yet they had a powerful impact.
"I just feel cold." Evelyn's pale lips quivered, her tearful eyes looking at him.
Edward's heart ached as if crushed by a giant wheel. He opened his arms and held her close, deeply, wanting to envelop her completely.
"Are you still cold?" he asked softly, his voice close to her ear.
Evelyn bit her lip gently, her body softening as if sinking into his chest, and shook her head slightly.
"As long as I'm here, you'll never be cold again." Edward comforted her like a child, his eyes filled with deep affection.
He knew her sorrow had been stirred up, and she still couldn't truly come to terms with Kimberly's death.
It would take time. The emotional wounds of kind-hearted people would take a long time to heal. He had enough patience and love for her.
Ulysses, William, and Jennifer watched them quietly embrace like two small animals seeking warmth, and their worried hearts were finally at ease.
