Chapter 580 Going to the Police Station

Evelyn's eyes went wide, staring at the man's striking profile in awe.

On the other end of the phone, there was silence, broken only by faint sobbing.

"What's up with you guys? One of you is staring at me like that, and the other can't even talk."

Edward smiled faintly, lifting his hand to gently pinch Evelyn's cheek. "So, are you two planning to not trust me at all?"

"N-no."

Jennifer was the first to speak, her voice low but grateful. "Edward, thanks for helping William. Really, thank you."

"We're family. No need to thank me."

After calming Jennifer, Edward hung up the phone and immediately ordered Bart, "Turn around, head to the police station."

Bart responded quickly, sharply turning the wheel.

"Edward, what are you planning to do?" Evelyn asked, worry evident as she looked at his calm, handsome face.

"No matter what, we need to get William out first."

Edward sighed, intertwining his fingers with hers and gently tightening his grip. "They've had a hard enough time just being together. I don't want them to face any more hardships. No matter what, I don't want them to get hurt."

Evelyn's breath caught slightly. "You... you can relate?"

The man shook his head, a look of release crossing his face as he pulled her into a deep embrace. "I used to. Not anymore. Because the greatest happiness in the world is right here in my arms."

William had been stuck in a filthy, rundown holding cell for two weeks. The Alexander family refused to settle, so he might be detained even longer.

But even so, he would never betray Evelyn and Edward.

Even if, after all his struggles, he still faced a prison sentence, he would bear it all without saying a word.

At the moment, William stood against the wall, arms crossed, eyes closed, trying to rest.

Across from him, a few men huddled in a corner, watching him cautiously and whispering among themselves.

"You're disturbing me."

William didn't even open his eyes, his voice icy. "If you don't want to get hurt, shut up."

The detained men immediately clamped their mouths shut, trembling and too scared to speak.

William sighed, his expression filled with sorrow.

Since his first night in the holding cell, he hadn't had a moment's peace.

These small-timers were all sent by the Alexander family. But the Alexander family hadn't anticipated that he was a black belt in Taekwondo. These guys were no match for him.

He shook his head, surprised that the Alexander family underestimated him so much, sending such poor-quality thugs, thinking he was useless.

Well, he could consider it a test. If he ended up in prison, his life there might not be too hard.

What William didn't know was that Evelyn and Edward had already arrived at the police station.

The Alexander family was incredibly shameless. Knowing that Peter, the captain of the criminal investigation team, was connected to the Taylor family, they had William detained at the Mugden West precinct. The police chief there, Chief Carter, had close ties with the Alexander family.

Hearing that the Taylor family's eldest daughter and the president of the Wellington Group had arrived, Chief Carter was on high alert and immediately contacted Calvin.

"Mr. Alexander, Evelyn, and Edward are here, in the waiting room. What should I do?"

"What should you do? Do what you need to do."

Calvin gritted his teeth. "You have the Alexander family backing you. Are you really afraid of them? Chief Carter, your promotion depends on this. No matter what pressure they put on you, you have to hold firm. Do not let them get William out! We have to ensure he is convicted of assaulting my brother and causing his disability!"

"Alright... I'll do my best!"

Chief Carter wiped the sweat off his brow. "But Mr. Alexander, I don't understand. William is just a secretary to Evelyn. Why are you so determined to go after him? Going against the Taylor family doesn’t benefit you."

"That's not your concern. Just do as I say!"

Calvin hung up, his eyes darkening with malice. "No benefit? Impossible. I never do anything that doesn't pay off!"

Now, the witnesses with evidence against him had all been privately bribed. Those girls had all "admitted" they were willing participants in their relationships with Randy, all "consensual."

If, on top of that, Randy was portrayed as being beaten and left impotent by Evelyn's dog, Randy would become a "victim," and Evelyn couldn't escape the negative public opinion. She'd be labeled as someone who abused her power for personal revenge.

In today's online world, the hostility was too intense. Those trolls were like rabid dogs, hating the rich and unable to see others happy. They didn't care about right or wrong, just a bunch of idiots swept up by public opinion without any independent thought!

Calvin popped open a bottle of champagne, pouring himself a glass, a wild smile on his face. "Evelyn, you want to fight me? I was dominating the business world while you were still playing in the sandbox!"

In the police chief's office.

Chief Carter looked at Edward and Evelyn sitting across from him, a fake smile plastered on his face, but cold sweat soaking his clothes. Even though he had the Alexander family behind him, the pressure from Edward and Evelyn was overwhelming!

"What brings you two here?" Chief Carter forced a smile.

"You should know why we're here." Evelyn's expression was cold, her tone even colder.
