Chapter 28 The Four of Us are Your Wedding Gift

Edward attended a top military academy in the country and served in the army for three years. Although he was now in business, his strong physique remained beneath his suit.
So when Simon's punch only left a bruise on Edward's lip, his tall figure remained motionless.
"Damn it! Love rival!" Eric cursed silently, but he didn't dare to say it out loud.
Because he remembered Lily's sarcastic words, the third party should not be too arrogant.
Simon was furious and punched Edward again, but Edward wouldn't give Simon another chance. He swiftly dodged the attack.
"Edward! Didn't I tell you to stay away from Lily? Have you no shame?"
Simon panted heavily, his eyes bloodshot. "If Lily is in danger, I will tear you apart! The entire Wellington Group will have no good ending!"
"Mr. Taylor, you're being too exaggerated. She only dislocated her shoulder..." Eric quickly stepped in to try and stop the fight from escalating.
"Huh, just dislocated?" Simon mocked, his eyes filled with intense anger. "Both of you, one treats women as playthings, the other treats women as decorations. How could you understand my feelings?
"Lily is the woman I love the most! She is the woman I want to protect and love for the rest of my life! Keep your dirty thoughts away from her!"
Simon's words were sincere and truthful.
In his entire life, his wife would always come second, with Evelyn being the first.
Edward's eyes trembled slightly. This confession was too direct, passionate, and heartfelt. He had never dared to express his love to a woman like this before.
Since Edward's departure, Lily had become more eye-catching, radiating a brilliant light. Landon and Eric both became interested in her.
Edward couldn't describe this bitter feeling in his heart.
He seemed like a fool. Edward was completely oblivious to the precious treasure by his side until Lily was loved and cherished by someone else, at which point he felt a sense of unwillingness.

"Edward, you wait. I will definitely sue you!"
Simon pointed fiercely at Edward's cold face, thinking to himself, "Let Ulysses find a chance to break his neck!"

"Fine, but let me correct you."
Edward met his sharp gaze expressionlessly, "Lily hasn't finished the divorce proceedings with me yet. She is still my wife and still part of the Wellington family."

Eric was left speechless and thought to himself, 'Edward is truly cunning.'

Simon was so angry that he wanted to curse at him, but his upbringing as a scion of a prestigious family made him restrain himself.

"Mr. Taylor."
A soft but powerful voice came, and the three of them turned around together.

Evelyn had her left arm in a cast. Her gaze was calm, and her beautiful face was slightly pale, like a delicate and proud camellia flower.

Edward narrowed his eyes, and his throat felt slightly hoarse.

The corridor was wide and empty.

Lily stood there all alone, looking very fragile. Only her pair of clear and bright eyes sparkled with purity, without a hint of impurity, stirring up a protective instinct in all men.

Suddenly, a distant and hazy familiar feeling stirred up ripples in Edward's mind.

Lily... Lily...

Edward's head throbbed like being pricked by a needle, but the pain and fragmentary memories quickly disappeared.

Simon hurriedly ran to Lily's side, his eyes reddening with worry. "Does it hurt?"

"It doesn't hurt anymore, let's go home."

Evelyn smiled gently at Simon, appearing radiant and intimate.

That smile pained Edward's eyes.

Simon held onto Evelyn's slim waist and leaned against her as they walked towards the other end of the corridor.

She didn't even want to look at her ex-husband.

A sour and swollen feeling filled Edward's chest. He was about to approach but was pulled back by Eric.

"Enough, Edward. It'll be too embarrassing if you catch up again! You were the one in the wrong; you injured Ms. Brown. Don't you know who called Landon?"

"She just wanted to see Mr. Taylor. Let's not go up there and make a scene!"

Seeing them support each other and disappear from the corridor, Edward felt suffocating, clenching his fingertips tightly.

William also hurried over. Simon called him but was still unclear about the situation.

"Ms. Taylor! What happened? Who hurt you?"

"It was Edward!"

Simon was so angry that he gritted his teeth. He had more to say, but Evelyn's glare silenced him. He dared not say anything more.

"What? I'll go beat him up to let you vent your anger!"
William made a threatening gesture as if he were about to find Edward, but Evelyn stopped him. "Forget it; you can't beat him. He comes from the army and has served in the peacekeeping forces. Do you really want to be his punching bag?"

"And besides, he didn't mean it. Edward doesn't know how to hold back; he doesn't understand the concept of being gentle, and it's not just for a day or two," Evelyn said.

"Ms. Taylor, listening to you... It seems like you've known each other for a long time?"

Evelyn hesitated for a moment, pursing her red lips.

At this point, William still didn't know about her relationship with Edward, so she wasn't intentionally hiding it, but she didn't want to explain.

It's all over now. Evelyn didn't want to have any more contact with Edward.

Back at the mansion, Simon brewed coffee for Evelyn and continued to curse Edward all the way.

"Simon, I'm sorry," Evelyn guiltily blinked her eyes.

"What? You're apologizing to me?"

Simon was surprised and reached out to touch her forehead. "Are you running a fever? What nonsense are you talking about?"

"No, I'm just trying to keep a secret. Landon went on a business trip to Yatuok, so I had to come to you for help. I was afraid you'd think I was using you, treating you like a tool..." Evelyn's voice grew quieter as she spoke.

"Evelyn, you're really silly."

Simon felt sorry for Evelyn and walked over to embrace her, avoiding her injured arm and enveloping her slender body in his chest.

"Our mother gave birth to us four before you, just to protect you. The next time you get married, the four of us will be your wedding gifts."

He finished speaking, feeling that his words weren't quite right, and quickly added, "Even if you never get married, we will still be your private property, protecting you for a lifetime, being your support!"

Evelyn was a bit speechless.

Wedding gifts? Four men?

She thought, 'Maybe I should just become a nun.'

Evelyn's injury distracted Edward throughout the afternoon, and he needed to pay more attention to the meeting or the reports from senior management.

With a mouth injury and a gloomy face, no one dared to breathe, and no one dared to ask him what was wrong.

Although he was an illegitimate child who managed to rise to a high position, no one in the entire Wellington Group dared to defy him anymore.

Caleb Wellington, Patrick's first wife's child, was weak and spent most of his time recuperating in Routiland. His health had been fluctuating in recent years to the point where he needed to be pushed into a wheelchair for transportation. Tiffany only gave birth to two daughters, the eldest being 25 and the youngest being 20, both far from meeting the standards of an heir.

Therefore, Edward naturally became the unique successor of the Wellington Group. Moreover, his outstanding abilities and control over the situation silenced all doubts.
"Mr. Wellington, the hotel we were interested in, the Moore Group, has been snatched away," Victor Walsh reported nervously.
"By who?" Edward, although lost in his thoughts, immediately became serious and focused on the matter at hand.
"The Moore Group sold the hotel to KnightSpear Group. It will be the second KS World Hotel in Mugden in the future."
Edward's tall figure stiffened, his eyes darkening.
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
"Our team was already in negotiations. We were almost there, but Mr. Taylor from KnightSpear Group intervened halfway, catching us off guard!" Victor's face turned pale with fear.
"Almost? You are almost ready for retirement.
Edward showed no emotion in his expression, but his low, magnetic voice filled the room with a sense of oppression. "I have said it before, that hotel has an excellent location, only 2000 feet away from the Universal Studios scheduled to be built in two years. No matter what, you must secure that hotel in the shortest time possible, even if the price doubles."
"You hesitate and fear, which is why we were caught off guard, and KnightSpear Group benefited from it. How are you and your team responsible for this?"
Victor hung his head, wiping sweat off his forehead, his legs trembling under the table.
"Report to the Freghilld branch next week. Even though you have worked for the company for ten years, if you repeat today's mistake, you will be out of the company."
Edward casually finished speaking, and his tall, strong figure had already reached the door, leaving everyone stunned, as if walking on thin ice.
Edward was imposing without anger. He must be really upset today!
"Could it be... someone seeking revenge?"
On their way back to Riverside Villa, Bart anxiously glanced at the rearview mirror as he drove. "Ms. Adams just attacked Mrs. Wellington, and now Mr. Taylor has snatched our project. Could it be that Mr. Taylor is behind all of this as well, under orders?"
"Although the Adams family brought this upon themselves..."
Edward suddenly looked up sharply, his gaze piercing through the rearview mirror. Bart almost choked in panic.
"There's a tailor shop ahead, let's park there."
