Chapter 405 Wanting to Get Close to Her

Tiffany was gradually calming down. "By the way, that maid I bribed back then, the one close to Amanda, have you been keeping an eye on her all these years?"

"Yes, she has always been far away in Roam, running a small restaurant there. She owes us a favor, so naturally, she has to keep the secret," Debra said with a sinister look in her eyes.

Although she harbored resentment towards Tiffany, she understood the principle of shared prosperity and shared loss.

If Tiffany fell, her days in the Wellington family wouldn't be easy either. If the entire Wellington family fell into Edward's hands, she probably wouldn't get any benefits in the future!

Tiffany composed herself for a while and then had Debra help her back to her room.

As they left, the wardrobe door in the bedroom trembled and opened a crack.

Kimberly, trembling all over, was curled up inside the wardrobe, clutching a bottle of red wine.

Her face was pale with shock, but her eyes were red as if she had just cried her heart out!

What should she do?

Who should she tell this earth-shattering secret to first?

Edward or Evelyn?

After comforting Tiffany, Debra returned to her room.

She shuddered at the thought of the alarming needle marks on Tiffany's arm when she helped her change clothes.

Patrick and Tiffany hadn't been sharing a bed much lately. Ever since Joyce's incident, the rift between the couple had deepened.

If Patrick saw those needle marks while lying in the same bed, who knew what he would think?

As she reached her room, Debra saw Kimberly standing there foolishly with a bottle of red wine.

Her face didn't look good.

"Miss Wellington, I brought you the wine. Do you need me to decant it for you?" Kimberly asked cautiously.

"No need, just give it to me. You don't need to stay here."

Debra snatched the wine and walked straight into the room, slamming the door behind her.

Kimberly stood dumbfounded at the door, her maid's uniform soaked with cold sweat.

Debra returned to her room, no longer in the mood for wine.

She thought about what Percy Tiffany had mentioned and felt increasingly scared. She needed to find some time to secretly investigate his background.

Debra removed her dried-out face mask, washed her face, took off her bathrobe, and opened the wardrobe to change into her pajamas.

Suddenly, her face stiffened, and her heart tightened.

She was usually quite careless, but she was very meticulous about her personal belongings and could notice even the slightest issue immediately!

She could feel that the wardrobe had been tampered with, and a stifling heat hit her face!

Debra suddenly remembered that there had been a noise in the bedroom when she was talking to Tiffany.

She immediately took out her phone and opened a surveillance app.

Debra, who had been foolish for half her life, had installed hidden cameras in her room!

She had done it long ago because, like Tiffany, she inherently distrusted everyone. She always felt that the maids would touch her things when she wasn't around.

She gritted her teeth and pulled up the surveillance footage.

When she saw that shortly after she left the room, Kimberly had entered with the wine and then hid in the wardrobe when she approached, she screamed and dropped her phone!

So, Kimberly had overheard all of her and Tiffany's conversation?

She knew that sinful secret?

Debra broke out in a cold sweat, her teeth chattering, as she anxiously paced the room.

She picked up her phone, her fingers trembling as she dialed Tiffany's number.

"What's wrong? I was about to fall asleep," Tiffany asked lazily.

"Mom, something happened!"

Debra curled up at the head of the bed, trembling with fear. "Kimberly overheard our conversation! She was hiding in my wardrobe at the time! My camera caught everything!"

She was in a panic.

On the other end of the line, there was an unexpectedly eerie silence.

"Mom! Mom! Are you listening? What should we do now?"

"That maid cannot be kept."

After a long pause, Tiffany's voice turned sinister. "Act as if nothing happened, don't alert her, and have someone keep a close watch on her. When the time is right, make sure she dies!"

After recovering, Evelyn was discharged from the hospital.

On the day of her discharge, everyone from the Taylor family came except for Ulysses, who didn't want to face Charlie. Even Donna, Joyce, and Susan had come from Hameen.

Seeing Evelyn so thin and lacking her usual radiance, Donna, Joyce, and Susan were all on the verge of tears.

"Evelyn, you've suffered." Joyce, the most emotional one, cried until her eyes were swollen and hugged Evelyn tightly. "It's our fault for not protecting you. I'm sorry."

"Joyce, I should be the one apologizing to you."

Evelyn returned Joyce's hug, feeling a pang of bitterness. "Have you been feeling better lately? Did Charlie buy you any bags, clothes, or jewelry? Charlie isn't that stingy, is he? Didn't he buy you anything?"

"Joyce doesn't like those things. She brought back a lot of precious ingredients and local specialties, saying she wants to cook for you for a month to help you recover," Susan said, hugging Donna's waist and smiling.

"That's not necessary!" Evelyn waved her hands repeatedly. Although she wanted to eat Joyce's cooking, she was also afraid of gaining weight!

How many laps of kayaking would it take to burn off those calories?

At that moment, across the street.

Edward stood alone in the chilly woods, staring intently at Evelyn, his gaze fixed on her smiling face, unable to look away.

Hearing that she was being discharged today, he had canceled an important meeting and rushed over.

But he could only stand there like someone who couldn't be seen, silently watching the woman who used to be his.

She used to be the one beside him.

Now, she was an unattainable dream.

Seeing Evelyn's beautiful face light up with a smile he hadn't seen in a long time, Edward thought of the day she had screamed at him hysterically and even hurt him.

Edward clutched his chest, trembling.

The pain, a tearing pain, exploded from his chest, wave after wave, as if it was going to rip his flesh and blood apart.

Who could he blame for ending up like this?

Nicole? Gilbert?

It seemed he could only blame himself.

"Evelyn, Evelyn."

Edward lost his focus for a moment, his body moving forward involuntarily, wanting to get closer to her.

At that moment, another luxury car slowly approached and stopped in front of Evelyn.

It was Charlie's car, an antique Rolls-Royce, the only one in the country, incredibly eye-catching.

Hubert got out first and opened the rear door.

Evelyn thought it would be Charlie getting out of the car, but the next second, she was stunned.

The person who stepped out, dressed in a suit and looking elegant, was Gilbert.
