Chapter 61 Edward, Are You a Fool?
"You bastard! Give it back to me!" Evelyn's face was flushed. Her delicate waist pressed tightly against Edward's strong waist, confined within his suit, her left hand climbing Evelyn's straight, broad shoulders to maintain balance.
Evelyn was extremely restless, and Edward had no intention of easily letting go of Evelyn with his big hand wrapped around her waist.
Evelyn felt a bit nervous. Edward wrapped his hands tightly around her, with a hint of possessiveness.
Evelyn felt the warmth of Edward's palm through the smooth fabric.
But at this moment, Edward's gaze was fixed on the phone, his handsome face devoid of desire, as if his mind was clear of any distractions.
Everyone was shocked. Evelyn had the guts to insult Edward by calling him a bastard in public, yet Edward didn't seem to be angry at all!
William was sweating profusely, wanting to pull Evelyn back but not knowing how to do it.
Debra was also stunned. Evelyn and Edward were not this intimate even when they were married, but they seemed to be getting closer after their divorce.
Arya Winter and Melinda Evans, Debra's two hypocritical friends, were jealous to the point of gnashing their newly manicured crystal nails after seeing Evelyn openly embracing Edward in public.
Edward frowned, swiftly deleting all of Debra's nasty photos.
"Lily Brown, how did your character deteriorate so quickly after leaving Riverside Villa, resorting to such despicable means?"
Just as Edward finished speaking, he curtly put the phone back into Evelyn's pants pocket and released his hand from around Evelyn's waist.
"If we're talking about despicableness, how can I even compare to you?" Evelyn retorted.
Evelyn quickly stepped back two paces, and brushed off some dust with a hint of disgust flashed in her eyes.
"What's wrong with me achieving what I want through my own abilities? Unlike Mr. Wellington, who can only resort to snatching when he can't compete, lacking in character, morals, and manners. Do you consider yourself a spectacle?"
'If so, then he must definitely be one hell of a spectacle!' Evelyn thought in her mind.
The waiters couldn't help but chuckle.
Edward's face darkened. His thin lips pressed tightly together.
Evelyn, in front of so many people, insulted Edward, which naturally made Edward angry. But what infuriated Edward even more was Evelyn's current indifference and aversion toward him.
Evelyn was extremely fed up with Edward, her eyes full of disdain for him.
But from the time of their divorce until now, it had always been Evelyn who was critical, always causing trouble, and Edward's patience in not reacting until now was already quite gentlemanly. Yet Evelyn continued to humiliate Edward repeatedly.
The old grudges surged like a tidal wave, prompting Edward to take a step forward, looking down at Evelyn with a sharp gaze.
"Lily Brown, do you dare to be so arrogant with me because you're my ex-wife? Do you think that just because we were once together, you can provoke me time and time again? Is our marriage merely a formality now, an excuse for you to treat me however you please? Nicole wouldn't dare to treat me like this, how dare you?" Edward questioned.
Edward's voice was extremely low. No one else heard what Edward was saying except for Evelyn.
But even so, Evelyn's eyes were burning with anger.
Evelyn never regretted loving Edward, nor did she regret being his wife, despite his lack of respect for her over the past three years—constantly ignoring her and trampling on her pride.
But at this moment, Evelyn wanted to say it was all in the past.
Filled with anger, Evelyn forced a smile and wiped away the sadness in her eyes. "Nicole doesn't dare because she cares about you. I dare to provoke you because you no longer hold any significance in my heart," she said firmly.
Edward furrowed his brow. As Evelyn gritted her teeth the next moment, her slender and soft fingers wrapping around Edward's expensive dark blue patterned tie, pulling it tight, then abruptly yanking it.
Evelyn said, "Do you want me to be grateful for that marriage? I never thought so."
Edward and Evelyn's intense gazes met, their bodies maintaining the last inch of distance.
Edward's neck tightened, his heart pricked by the thorn in Evelyn's eyes.
"How did I get through those three years? To put it plainly, it was 'unbearable to look back on'. Do you think marrying you was a great gift from heaven, and being your wife was something to boast about? No, you're too self-righteous. I really wish I could eradicate you from my life completely, wipe you out entirely. I wish I had never loved you," Evelyn spoke slowly, as if reliving those moments.
Edward was shocked, feeling his throat constricted by the tie, his heart aching.
Each word inflicted more pain on Edward than the last.
By the time Edward came to his senses, Evelyn had already let go of his hand and walked past him.
William hurriedly got up to follow her, casting an angry glare at Edward as he passed by.
William hadn't quite caught what Edward and Evelyn had said earlier, but he was certain Edward hadn't said anything good.
"Edward! Did you delete those photos? Lily is so shameless. How dare she threaten me? Fortunately, we maintained dignity for the Wellington family," Debra said with pride.
Debra ran over excitedly, eager to link arms with Edward in front of everyone and display their close sibling bond.
However, Edward was engulfed in the blow Evelyn had dealt him, his face dark and cold as he shot Debra a sharp look that felt like a knife slicing across her cheek.
Debra was afraid and quickly withdrew her hand.
"Are the photos photoshopped?" asked Edward.
"What?" Debra was taken aback.
"If not, how is Lily Brown defaming you?" Edward's eyes filled with coldness.
Debra was stunned, feeling like Edward was on her side, but not entirely.
It seemed that Edward's heart still leaned toward believing Evelyn.
"I know what happened. I saw it clearly that day." Edward averted his gaze. "Since the situation has escalated beyond control, hold a press conference and apologize to that waitress tomorrow night."
"What?" Debra was both surprised and angry. "Why? Do you even know how much I spend at KS World Hotel? Their service was so terrible and they even damaged my necklace. It's only reasonable that I gave them a piece of my mind! Why should I apologize?"
Suddenly, the large screen on the second floor of the boutique lit up for no apparent reason!
A surveillance video started playing, capturing everyone's attention.
The footage showed two well-dressed, sexy women, Arya and Melinda, in the elevator at KS World Hotel, flirting with their reflections in the mirrored doors, and it was none other than Debra's friends.
"Oh, I'm so speechless. It's just a necklace, and Debra was so proud and boastful. She lacks the skills to achieve anything substantial!"
"If it weren't for Debra being generous enough to pay for our fun, who would bother hanging out with her?"
"Do you think Debra is the fool they often talk about nowadays?"
"Watching Debra go crazy looking for her necklace just now was so satisfying! Debra couldn't even imagine that we had already broken it and hidden it in the room. Let Debra make a fool of herself, it's not us losing face!"
The video ended, leaving Arya and Melinda pale!
Debra's eyes blazed with fury and hatred as she walked step by step toward Arya and Melinda.
"Debra, this is not the case!" They exclaimed.
Arya and Melinda were extremely flustered, backing away, "Please hear us out! We've been set up!"
"How dare you two ruin my things when all your fun were paid with my money. I'll kill you!"
Debra shouted, disregarding her noble image, and lunged at Arya and Melinda with bared teeth and claws.
