Chapter 531 She Has a Fiancé

Charlie narrowed his sharp, eagle-like eyes, exuding an air of calm confidence and imposing presence as he firmly shook Gavin's hand.

He stood his ground in every way.

"That incident at the racetrack must've been a bit unsettling, Mr. Wilson. My daughter was a bit out of line; she's still young and might've acted inappropriately. I hope you can forgive her," Charlie said with a smile, his fluent English and deep, magnetic voice showcasing his aristocratic demeanor.

The crowd gasped, "WOW!"

Did they see that right?

The old-money aristocrat from Mythorica, heir to the royal castle, and head of a top financial conglomerate, had actually extended his hand to Charlie first!

The Taylor family might be incredibly wealthy, but they only dominated in Hameen.

But the Wellington Group and the Alexander family were top-tier financial groups in Mugden. How could Gavin overlook them so easily? Charlie's influence was truly formidable!

At that moment, Patrick, Maurice, and Elbert arrived and stood nearby.

Witnessing this scene, the three big shots had varied expressions, each with their own thoughts.

Patrick, in particular, couldn't hide his displeasure, his jawline tense like a blade.

Everyone in Mugden knew that the Journey Group's first domestic business collaboration was with the Wellington Group. At this delicate stage of their relationship, Gavin seemed indifferent to Patrick but closer to Charlie, who had no collaboration with them.

This was somewhat humiliating for Patrick.

It felt like an invisible suppression.

"Mr. Taylor, you're too modest."

Gavin continued to praise Evelyn without holding back, "Your daughter is a rare gem, not only stunningly beautiful but also skilled in equestrianism, rivaling professional jockeys. Her skills are top-notch among female riders in our country."

"After the last horse race, Sawyer couldn't stop praising Ms. Taylor and hoped to see her again. They both love and understand horses, so they must have a lot to talk about."

Gavin waved Sawyer over, who straightened his bow tie and walked over gracefully.

He glanced at Edward, a contemptuous smirk tugging at his lips.

Edward clenched his fists, his eyes filled with icy fury, a burning rage in his chest!

"Damn, Edward, is that guy provoking you?" Eric noticed, too, his fists tightening. "This is Mugden, not Mythorica. What gives him the right to be so arrogant here?"

"He likes Evelyn. I saw it the moment I laid eyes on him," Edward's expression darkened.

"Evelyn is too exceptional. Any man who sees her would be smitten. If not, I'd question his orientation or health," Eric said, grateful that his wife's beauty was for his eyes only.

"Ms. Taylor, it's a pleasure to see you again," Sawyer said, his gaze intense as he extended his hand to Evelyn.

Edward's eyes turned red, his breath catching.

It was just a polite gesture, but he knew Sawyer's intentions were unclear!

Just as Edward's tall frame wavered, ready to charge forward, Eric grabbed him in time.

"Hey, don't be impulsive. Sawyer is just shaking hands with Evelyn. You're overreacting."

"Acting like this only makes you seem overly jealous or like you don't trust Evelyn, constantly worried she'll be taken by another man."

"That guy has ulterior motives."

Edward's eyes flashed with a dark red hue, his temple throbbing. "I don't want his filthy hands touching my woman."

"But have you thought about the consequences if you go over there now?"

Eric, seeing things clearly, tried to steer him away from trouble. "Tonight's banquet hosted by the Wilsons is to select business partners. Everyone wants a chance, including Mr. Taylor."

"If you go and mess things up, ruining a potential deal for Mr. Taylor, won't he hold a grudge against you? Evelyn mentioned that Mr. Taylor has a long memory for grudges."

As Edward hesitated, Evelyn smiled and said, "Mr. Sawyer Wilson, it's a pleasure to have you in Mugden. To show my respect, please allow me to return the courtesy with your country's etiquette."

With that, Evelyn lowered her lashes, lifted the hem of her red evening gown, and performed a graceful curtsy.

The men around were entranced, including Sawyer.

For a moment, it felt like they were transported back to a medieval Atlantis court ball, mesmerizing everyone.

But only Evelyn knew she just didn't want to touch this man's hand.

She had a cleanliness obsession and found it dirty.

Edward saw through her thoughts, a sweet, gentle smile curling his lips.

Sawyer, still smug, thought Evelyn had a favorable impression of him, his eyes filled with self-satisfied foolishness.

"This banquet serves two purposes: to announce upcoming business collaborations and to give my son and our families a chance to get to know each other better, especially Ms. Taylor." Gavin's intentions were clear.

Landon's face darkened, his gaze complex as he looked at his father.

Unexpectedly, Charlie's next words stunned both Wilsons, "Mr. Gavin Wilson, are you interested in my daughter?"

The crowd was shocked, "What?"

Evelyn was also taken aback, not expecting Charlie to be so direct!

Edward's heart tightened, his palms sweating.

He had unwavering faith in Evelyn, but he didn't trust Charlie.

Charlie had once married Jennifer off to the venomous Gilbert for the family's benefit. Why wouldn't he consider the olive branch extended by the Wilson family?

Especially since he never thought highly of Edward.

Gavin was at a loss for words when Sawyer eagerly spoke up, unabashedly expressing his admiration for Evelyn, "Yes, Mr. Taylor, I am very fond of your daughter. It was love at first sight."

The crowd buzzed, socialites gritting their teeth in jealousy!

Was Evelyn the goddess of luck herself? Why were her suitors increasingly noble?

She was just a divorced woman, yet she was a treasure in the eyes of these wealthy heirs?

"Ms. Taylor's elegance at the racetrack left an indelible impression on me. She is the most dazzling girl I've ever seen. After seeing her, no other woman can compare."

"So, I want to pursue your daughter and hope Ms. Evelyn Taylor will give me a chance." Sawyer's words were humble, but his arrogance was unmistakable.

It was as if any woman he pursued should be grateful.

"Evelyn..." Jennifer worriedly held Evelyn's hand.

Unexpectedly, Evelyn's beautiful eyes remained calm, her voice cold, "Mr. Sawyer Wilson, I am a divorced woman. Everyone in Mugden knows this. You must be aware too, right?"

The Wilsons were visibly flustered, exchanging uneasy glances.

The people around them glanced at Edward.

His lips pressed into a thin line, and he gazed deeply at Evelyn, ready to stand by her side against all rumors and verbal attacks.

"Evelyn is usually so shrewd. Why is she acting so frivolously now?"

Maurice, standing next to Patrick, shook his head in disdain, "Is divorce something to boast about? Bringing it up in such an important setting. She not only shames herself but drags Edward down with her. Mr. Wellington, she's clearly disrespecting the Wellington Group, acting recklessly."

Patrick's face grew increasingly grim.

"Divorce might be a disgrace for other women, but for Ms. Taylor, it might be a badge of honor."

Jessica, clinging to Maurice's arm, mocked, "Mr. Sawyer Wilson wants to pursue her, and she brings this up publicly. It disgusts the Wellington Group, proves her allure, and frustrates Edward. Why wouldn't she?"

Patrick's expression turned even more sour.

"With Mr. Sawyer Wilson's status, he won't have trouble finding a suitable, excellent woman. I clearly don't meet the criteria. Thank you for your misplaced affection," Evelyn smiled lightly, politely rejecting him.

Though polite, it was still a rejection!

Sawyer's chest filled with intense frustration, his competitive spirit ignited.

Initially, Evelyn's divorce was a bit off-putting for him, given his obsession with purity.

But he couldn't stand being rejected!

So, Sawyer stepped forward, gazing at Evelyn with deep affection, as if he couldn't live without her.

"Ms. Evelyn Taylor, I don't care if you've been married. I like you for who you are. Your experiences and openness make you uniquely charming, deeply attracting me."

"Your ex-husband didn't cherish you, but to me, you're a shining star in the night, a precious gem in the sea. I will cherish and love you. Please give me a chance to pursue you!"

Edward's heart churned with bitter emotions, his trembling fingers clenching, "If I had been a good husband to Evelyn, if I hadn't been so foolish... none of this would be happening now. All the blame lies with me."The crowd was stunned, and even Gavin was shocked!

Sawyer, usually so proud, was humbling himself to pursue a woman for the first time!

Evelyn didn't expect Sawyer to persist, her beautiful face turning cold as frost, ready to show him no kindness.

Suddenly, she felt a weight on her shoulder.

Charlie stepped forward, wrapping an arm around her, smiling at the Wilsons, "Gentlemen, I'm sorry. My daughter is already spoken for. She has a fiancé."
