Chapter 196 She Always Has a Way
Evelyn went to the fashion event today not to show off, but to get two things done.
First, she gave an interview to address the Wellington Group issue, making her stance clear and shutting down rumors.
Second, she openly gave a gift to Ada but was really there to keep an eye on Debra and control the situation. She couldn't let Debra take advantage.
Just then, Ada walked over with a middle-aged man in a custom brown suit, looking confident.
"Ms. Taylor, let me introduce you," Ada said quickly. "This is Vincent Garcia, the global president of AX Jewelry and a good friend of mine. Vincent, this is Evelyn Taylor, the general manager of KS WORLD Hotel. She's very talented!"
Vincent, a native of Yatuok with blonde hair and blue eyes, had royal blood.
"Mr. Garcia, welcome to Mugden," Evelyn said, smiling and extending her hand.
"Hello, Ms. Taylor. It's an honor to have you at our AX brand show," Vincent replied, shaking her hand.
Ada glanced between Vincent and Evelyn, sensing something odd. 'They should be meeting for the first time, but it feels like they know each other,' she thought.
The reporters were stunned too. Vincent, known for his high standards and royal blood, smiled warmly at Evelyn like she was his own daughter. Evelyn must be really special. But with her beauty and elegance, it was no surprise men were drawn to her.
"Ms. Taylor, what a coincidence to see you here," Jessica said, walking over in a luxurious gown, smiling sweetly.
Evelyn's eyes narrowed, her gaze cold as she looked at Jessica. Then she ignored her, smiling at Vincent and Ada. "Shall we go over there to chat?"
Jessica, feeling snubbed, reddened with anger. 'My brother is Eric! How dare Evelyn treat me like this?' she thought.
As Vincent, Ada, and Evelyn were about to leave, Jessica said with a fake smile, "Ms. Taylor, your jewelry is beautiful. I noticed it from afar."
Everyone looked at Evelyn.
Evelyn stayed calm, her lips curving slightly. "Thank you for the compliment."
"But I noticed your jewelry isn't from the AX brand, right?" Jessica said coldly.
Everyone took a closer look. Although Evelyn's jewelry was beautiful, anyone who knew jewelry could tell it was not AX. This was a big mistake, especially in front of Vincent, the president of AX!
"Today is AX's big show, but Ms. Taylor is wearing jewelry from another brand. That's a bit inappropriate, isn't it?" Jessica said, her chin slightly raised and eyes full of mockery. "With your status, Ms. Taylor, it shouldn't be hard to follow the brand's rules, right? After all, you're at their show. Or, is the jewelry you're wearing from your own brand? Trying to use AX's show to promote your products? No wonder you beat Edward. You're really good at business and marketing!"
Her sarcastic remarks hit the mark.
The reporters whispered, casting glances at Evelyn.
"As the daughter of Knight Spear Group, she should know the rules, right?"
"How could she not know! Maybe she's just trying to take advantage. Women in business sometimes use underhanded tactics. Who knows, maybe she used some shady methods to win Edward's trust and Ada's favor last time!"
"I used to admire Ms. Taylor, but now she seems a bit despicable."
Jessica's lips curled up, feeling victorious. 'Evelyn, you're too arrogant! Today, I'll bring you down a notch by questioning your character!'
Unbeknownst to Jessica, everything she said and did was witnessed by the late-arriving Edward.
Edward stood quietly in the shadows, his eyes coldly fixed on the triumphant Jessica.
"Edward, Mrs. Wellington is being bullied by Jessica!" Bart said anxiously.
Edward's lips tightened. He leaned forward slightly, his eyes deepening, but then he stopped.
"Wait," Edward said.
"Wait?" Bart's eyes widened, confused.
"She's not an ordinary woman. She's Evelyn. She always has a way."
Edward's eyes narrowed slightly, a gentle smile tugging at his lips. "And even if she doesn't, she still has me."
Bart stared in disbelief at Edward's cold and superior profile, clutching his chest in shock.
"After all, she was my woman. No one can bully her."
The situation shifted.
Evelyn's mistake in wearing the wrong jewelry drew criticism, seen as an attempt to ride on the brand's coattails, which was disgraceful and against the rules.
Debra, hiding behind Jessica, was already enjoying the schadenfreude!
Evelyn looked at Jessica calmly, her composed gaze making Jessica very uncomfortable.
The panic and helplessness she expected to see were nowhere to be found!
'How annoying!' Jessica thought.
"Miss," Vincent, who had been silent, spoke up. "I see you're wearing the AX global limited edition 'Immortal Flower' series."
"Yes, Mr. Garcia, I really love AX's jewelry, and this series is my favorite!" Jessica's eyes sparkled, her heart racing as she received attention from the AX president.
"If you truly love this series, you should know that the initial design inspiration for AX's 'Immortal Flower' series came from the genius international jewelry designer Alexa's 'Sea Rose.'"
As he spoke, Vincent glanced meaningfully at the golden rose swaying on Evelyn's left ear.
From Edward's perspective, this look seemed somewhat ambiguous. His lips turned pale as he saw Vincent's attention on Evelyn, feeling an inexplicable suffocation.
"And the jewelry Ms. Taylor is wearing today is Alexa's 'Sea Rose.' In other words, without 'Sea Rose,' there wouldn't be the now-popular 'Immortal Flower' series."
