Chapter 467 Wade Is Here
On the other side, in the hallway outside the emergency room.
Landon and Nancy had been accompanying Evelyn, anxiously waiting for Adrian's surgery to end.
"Evelyn, such a major surgery might take until dawn. Why don't you find a room to rest for a bit?" Nancy hugged Evelyn, feeling her body cold and her hands trembling, worried she might wear herself out.
"I'm fine, I'll just wait here." Evelyn's eyelashes fluttered lightly. "Given the current situation, how could I possibly sleep?"
"Evelyn." Landon walked over and sat beside her, asking seriously, "About the person named Sebastian that Billy mentioned, do you have any thoughts?"
Nancy said somewhat resentfully, "Landon, let Evelyn rest. Can't we talk about this after tonight? Besides, Wade and I will urge the authorities to investigate this case thoroughly. We won't let you suffer in vain."
"It's okay, Nancy, I actually want to talk about it too."
Evelyn patted Nancy's hand, then turned her deep gaze to Landon. "Landon, this attack on you and Edward on the South Island is very unusual."
"Your operation was highly confidential. I know Edward well; he's always cautious and thorough. There's no way he would have leaked information."
"Even if someone on the island tipped off Lloyd, it should have been his accomplices who showed up. Why would the military get involved with heavy weapons? It's too abnormal!"
"Yes, it even makes me think that the people Sebastian sent weren't there to assist Lloyd but were targeting me and Edward."
Landon recalled what Edward had told him, his breath catching slightly. "Edward also told me he's about ninety percent sure who sent those military people. But the situation was urgent, and we didn't have time to discuss it further."
Evelyn's eyes widened slightly. "Edward has seen Sebastian? How could he have contact with the military?"
Landon shook his head. "No, Edward said someone in Mugden is secretly colluding with Sebastian, trying to use the military to kill us."
Mugden? Evelyn's lips parted in shock, her mind racing.
Who could be so vicious and influential to get the military to act against them?
"I've already sent people to investigate Sebastian in Mugden. There must be someone among the Mugden elites who has close ties with the authorities, and they will be on my suspect list." Landon's expression was so grim it was unsettling.
"Once Edward wakes up, he can give us the answer. Didn't he say he's ninety percent sure who did it?"
At that moment, Nancy's brow furrowed, a concern gradually growing in her eyes.
"Nancy, you don't look well. Are you feeling unwell?" Landon noticed her discomfort and asked with concern.
"Evelyn, recently you and..."
Suddenly, the door to the emergency room was flung open!
A nurse with blood-stained scrubs ran out, gasping for breath and urgently shouting, "The patient is losing too much blood. The hospital's blood supply is exhausted. We need a transfusion immediately!"
"I'll do it!" Evelyn stood up immediately, rushing forward without hesitation.
Suddenly, she froze.
She remembered when she had brought a severely injured Edward back to the camp. He had needed a blood transfusion urgently, but her blood type didn't match his, so she couldn't help him.
"I'll do it," Landon also stepped forward.
"I can too!" Nancy raised her hand.
"And we two, with so many people, it should be enough, right?"
Ulysses and Eric also stepped forward. To save Edward's life, they wouldn't hesitate to give blood.
"The patient has Rh-negative blood type. Are any of you a match?" The nurse, anxious to save the patient, snapped at them.
Evelyn's heart sank, overwhelmed by a huge sense of panic.
Rh-negative was a rare blood type, and the hospital's stock was already low. In this urgent situation, where could they find more blood from another hospital? And would another hospital even have it?
"What? Edward has Rh-negative blood? Why does he always cause so much trouble?" Ulysses exclaimed in shock, his anxiety making him speak without thinking.
"Ulysses, don't say that. Saving him is the priority now," Landon sternly rebuked Ulysses.
As everyone was at a loss, a clear, deep voice came through:
"I can do it. I have Rh-negative blood and can donate immediately!"
"Wade?"
Nancy looked at Wade, who had rushed over, and covered her mouth in disbelief, almost unable to hold back her tears.
"Oh my God, Wade." Evelyn was also stunned, blinking hard.
Wade was no longer the same; he was now the President of Aurora Isle!
Coming here with just a couple of people was too reckless and dangerous!
"Nancy, I'm sorry I'm late." Wade, almost forty, gazed at Nancy with eyes as clear as a young man's.
His eyes reddened with guilt as he opened his arms to embrace Nancy, gently patting her trembling back, whispering in her ear, "Nancy, do you know how scared I was when I heard you came to Torontow alone?"
"How could you be so brave? What would I do if something happened to you?"
"If something happened to me, you'd just find another First Lady."
In front of her beloved Wade, Nancy turned into a soft, coquettish woman, her voice tender and sweet, her flushed face buried in his chest, listening to his strong, steady heartbeat, which made her feel so secure.
"Don't say that."
Wade kissed the top of her soft hair, the warm, fluffy scent intoxicating him. "Without you, there would be no me. Everything I've achieved would be meaningless without you. I would follow you without hesitation."
"Don't say that, or I'll get mad."
Watching Nancy and Wade's loving interaction, Evelyn felt both happy and envious, quietly rubbing her eyes.
She thought to herself, 'If one day, I can also openly embrace and stay with my loved one, how wonderful that will be.'
'So, Edward, you have to wake up.'
'Otherwise, what will I do for the rest of my life?'
Without delay, after briefly greeting everyone, Wade went into the emergency room with the nurse to prepare for Edward's blood transfusion.
Nancy anxiously stared at the closed door, worry causing sweat to bead on her forehead.
"Nancy, I remember Wade's health isn't great. Edward needs a lot of blood. Can he handle it?" Landon asked, concerned.
"He'll be fine. Wade can handle it. I believe in him." Nancy quickly hid her worry, softly reassuring everyone.
"Nancy." Evelyn, choking up, hugged Nancy. She didn't say anything, but Nancy understood her, smiling gently. "Family helps family; it's what we do."
Time passed agonizingly, second by second.
At dawn, the emergency room light went out, and the door opened.
Everyone's eyes were bloodshot, but at the sound of the door opening, they immediately rushed forward.
Evelyn's heart pounded as she watched Adrian, in blood-stained scrubs, drag his exhausted body out.
He removed his mask, revealing a pale, haggardly handsome face, his beautiful eyes bloodshot, and his clothes soaked with sweat.
Landon's heart ached at the sight, a complex mix of emotions surfacing.
"Mr. Mays, how is Edward?" Evelyn's heart tightened, her voice hoarse with worry.
"Mr. Wellington, he..."
Adrian, exhausted, felt his vision darken and his body sway.
"Mr. Mays!" Everyone exclaimed in shock.
A figure swiftly rushed forward, catching Adrian in a deep embrace without hesitation.
"Be careful."
Adrian took a breath, slowly lifting his misty eyes.
Seeing Landon's anxious gaze, his heart was instantly enveloped in warmth, beating fiercely.
