Chapter 199 Evelyn Gets Tricked
Edward stood there, taking Evelyn's harsh words without a fight. She was right; it was all his fault.
"Evelyn, there's nothing between Jessica and me. I've never even said she was my sister!" Edward's ears turned red, his voice strained.
He usually avoided arguments, but this time he was desperate.
"Why are you telling me this? What does it matter to me?"
Evelyn had lost patience, her eyes filled with disgust. "I don't care about you or your explanations. Let go, I need to watch the show."
"You don't? Then why do you keep bringing it up? You mentioned it at the police station, and now again!"
Edward hated these misunderstandings, his eyes reddening, shoulders trembling. "The fact that you care about which woman I'm with means you still care about me! You’re not as indifferent as you say!"
"It's not that I care. It's that you disgust me, Edward."
Evelyn stared at him, slowly prying his fingers off and pulling away. "If I had known about Nicole and Jessica, I would never have fallen for you. Now, I'm glad I got out early. But I'm still repulsed that I once loved such a fickle, cowardly jerk!"
Edward's breathing grew heavy, feeling suffocated.
'So this is what it feels like to be misunderstood.' He thought and the bitterness filled his heart, tearing him apart.
Evelyn saw the shattered look in Edward's eyes but didn't linger. She turned and walked away.
Evelyn told herself, 'The past is the past. No matter how deep the feelings, don't look back.'
Just then, her phone rang. It was William.
"William, what's up?" She tried to calm herself.
"Evelyn, something's happened! Check Twitter right now!" William's voice was urgent.
Evelyn's brows furrowed, a sense of dread rising.
She quickly opened Twitter.
Her face turned pale, and she cursed under her breath.
The top trending topic was [Ada's Wedding Design Exposed!]
The pictures of the wedding venue she and her team had painstakingly planned were all over the internet!
Completely exposed!
Edward, still lost in his emotions, was startled by Evelyn's curse, a slight smile tugging at his lips.
'Since leaving me, Evelyn has become more vibrant and lively, far more adorable than the cautious woman who used to stay by my side.' Edward thought before he was about to approach Evelyn when she ran down the hallway, leaving him behind.
Sensing something was wrong, Edward called Bart.
"Edward," Bart answered.
"Is there a problem with KS?" Edward asked sharply.
"Yes, Edward, I was just about to report to you!"
Bart's tone was anxious. "The photos of the wedding venue KS WORLD set up for Ada have been exposed on Twitter! They've gone viral, trending number one!"
Edward's brow twitched. "Which media outlet did it?"
"It was a self-media account," Bart replied.
"They're really asking for it," Edward's eyes darkened, his face cold.
"Will this affect Mrs. Wellington?" Bart asked nervously.
"Of course. Why else would she run off like that?" Edward still looked in the direction Evelyn had gone, his heart tightening for her. "When Ada and Evelyn signed the contract, there must have been a clause—no details of the wedding venue could be exposed in advance, or it would be a breach of contract."
"Breach of contract? That serious?" Bart was shocked.
"Yes. Now that the venue's been exposed, KS WORLD has breached the contract. Even if they don't have to compensate Ada financially, she'll likely choose a new wedding planner. And it won't be KS WORLD," Edward said solemnly.
'All of Evelyn's hard work, gone. And KS WORLD is out of the game,' Edward thought.
"Mrs. Wellington is usually so careful. How could this happen?" Bart wondered.
Edward's eyes were like knives, his fists clenched in anger. He should be happy that KS WORLD was in trouble, but he couldn't bring himself to smile.
"Bart, investigate that self-media account immediately. Find out who's behind this photo leak!"
The exposure of Ada's wedding venue quickly became a hot topic. Inside the show, everyone knew about it, but the clueless onlookers praised Ada's wedding as magnificent and grand, like a dream wedding!
However, Ada's face was grim. She didn't finish watching the show or greet Vincent before slipping away, avoiding everyone's gaze.
But Jessica and Debra, sitting opposite the runway, noticed everything.
"Dorothy moves fast," Jessica's eyes gleamed sinisterly, a stark contrast to her angelic face. Seeing Ada leave in anger, she knew her goal was achieved.
'Evelyn, so what if you're the daughter of the richest man in Hameen? In the end, you're still outsmarted by me,' Jessica thought.
"This Dorothy is quite capable," Debra clapped her hands in admiration. "She managed to sneak photos of the wedding venue so quickly. Is she really a reporter or a spy?"
"Don't contact Dorothy for now, to avoid leaving any evidence," Jessica's eyes flashed sharply, feeling triumphant. "Debra, I've helped you get rid of Evelyn. Now it's up to you to win over Ada."
"Don't worry. Now that KS has breached the contract, Ada, undoubtedly angry, will choose the Wellington Group," Debra puffed out her chest, full of pride. "In Mugden, besides the Wellington Group and KS, what other options does she have? If she doesn't choose us, who else can she go to?"
