Chapter 476 Reunion

Eric said goodbye to everyone and rushed home in a hurry.

These days, he had been holding back, acting indifferent to romantic feelings in front of others. But in private, he would wrap himself in a blanket and repeatedly look at intimate photos of him and Molly, often tearing up as he did.

Without seeing Molly, Eric couldn't eat or sleep well and was on the verge of breaking down.

Earlier, seeing Edward and Evelyn flirting had pushed his inner restlessness to the limit, making his longing unbearable.

As night fell, the sky was filled with stars.

During the days Eric was away, the temperature in Mugden had risen quickly, and the flowers and plants in the yard were starting to bloom with the arrival of spring.

For another five days, there was no sign of Eric. Ellen didn't dare to contact him privately and was so worried that she lost her appetite and couldn't focus.

Every day, she only did two things, taking care of the lovely Molly and waiting for Eric to come home. Tonight, Ellen was still dressed neatly, standing outside the door.

She always felt that Eric would return triumphantly soon, maybe today, and if not today, then tomorrow.

At that moment, a white sports car approached like a flash of lightning cutting through the night sky.

With a screeching halt, the car stopped in front of her.

Seeing Eric appear safe and sound, striding towards her, Ellen was so excited that tears welled up in her eyes, and her hands trembled as she clasped them tightly.

"Mr. Clark, you're finally back."

"Why are you standing at the door so late at night?"

Eric glanced at Ellen, his eyes wide with surprise, "You haven't been standing here every day waiting for me, have you?"

"No, I just couldn't sleep tonight, so I came outside for some fresh air. It's a coincidence that you came back."

Ellen smiled, not telling the truth. Her feelings for Eric were deep but never shown."Where's Mrs. Clark? Is she asleep?" Eric asked nervously.

"Yes, Mrs. Clark just went to bed not long ago."

Eric's shoulders slumped, his eyes full of disappointment. "I rushed as fast as I could, but I still missed her!"

He knew Molly loved to sleep; she was a true sleeping beauty.

If he hadn't kept her up every night with kisses and cuddles, they would probably only have time for intimacy during the day.

Ellen smiled wryly, "It's okay, Mr. Clark. At least you don't have to stare at Mrs. Clark's photos and suffer from longing anymore."

Just as Eric was about to step inside, he noticed under the dim light at the door that there was a noticeable scabbed cut on Ellen's left cheek, as if it had been scratched by something sharp.

Looking closer, her left cheek was clearly more swollen than her right.

"Wait, what happened to your face?" Eric's sharp eyebrows furrowed.

"It's nothing, Mr. Clark." Ellen lowered her eyes, somewhat evasive.

"Nothing? This is clearly a slap mark. Do you think I'm blind?"

Anger instantly flared in Eric's eyes, his voice filled with coldness, "Who did this to you? Who dared to touch my people while I was away? I'll deal with them!"

Ellen knew she couldn't hide it anymore and had to lower her head and reply softly, "This afternoon, Miss Clark suddenly came over, saying she wanted to see Mrs. Clark."

"Why did Jessica come?" Eric's heart tightened.

"Miss Clark said she and Mrs. Clark were middle school classmates and had a good relationship back then. She said she had thought things over and realized she shouldn't have been so selfish and willful.

So she came today to talk to Mrs. Clark in person and make peace."

"Do you believe that?" Eric asked coldly.

Ellen simply said, "I didn't let her in."

"So, because you didn't let her in to see Mrs. Clark, she hit you?"

Ellen remained silent.

"Then everything she said was nonsense!"

Eric took a deep breath, suppressing his near-explosive anger, "It seems Jessica's visit to make peace with Molly was a lie."

Ellen was helpless.

"Ellen, you're caught between me and my sister, and you also have to take care of Mrs. Clark. It's been hard on you."

Eric sighed, feeling guilty, "Starting tomorrow, you can take a vacation. I'll stay with Molly. You like traveling, right? Take my black card and go have some fun."

"You're too kind. I'm your subordinate; this is all part of my duty."

Ellen's expression was calm, but a warm feeling filled her heart.

Eric tiptoed into the bedroom.

He didn't dare turn on the light or wear shoes, fearing that even the slightest noise would wake her. Like a thief, he slowly approached Molly, who was curled up on the bed.

Eric stood by the bed, his tall figure completely enveloping Molly's petite body. He stared at her for a long time before leaning down to plant a light kiss on her soft lips.

'I'm back, honey.'

'Sleep well, I'll come to you in the morning.'

Just as Eric was about to turn and leave, he was suddenly grabbed tightly around the waist by a pair of slender arms!

"Molly." Eric's heart trembled.

Molly, with tearful eyes, hugged him tightly, her choked words spilling out like broken beads, "Eric, you're finally back. Why did you take so long? I thought you wouldn't come back; I thought you didn't want me anymore."As she spoke, Molly's tears fell, landing on Eric's strong, heaving back, almost piercing his heart.

It turned out she hadn't been asleep at all. She just couldn't be sure if her lover had really returned, thinking it might be a dream.

Eric turned around and held the tearful Molly tightly, his strong hand cupping the back of her head, his fingers threading through her soft hair, as if he wanted to merge her into his own flesh and blood.

"Molly, I would rather be abandoned by everyone and be an enemy to the world than ever leave you. You are my everything."

"But you were gone for so long. You've never left me for that long before." Molly sobbed, her small hands wrinkling Eric's black shirt.

"Catching bad guys, you know. They were cunning, so it took a few extra days." Eric's tone was completely soothing, like talking to a child.

"Did you catch them?"

"Yes, I caught them myself!" In front of his woman, he had to boast.

"Eric, you're amazing!" Molly's eyes were full of admiration.

"If I weren't amazing, how could I protect you?" Eric shamelessly replied.

"Now that you've caught the bad guys, can you avenge Kimberly?" she asked cautiously, her eyes filled with tears.

Eric took a deep breath and nodded, "Yes."

Molly clasped her hands together, praying for Kimberly.

For the first time in days, she showed a hint of a smile.
