Chapter 115 Jennifer and Evelyn

'The divorce is final, ending my 13-year relationship with him. If I remember right, after Byron's 80th birthday, Edward and Nicole will get married. Nicole will finally be the official wife and proudly show off her status as the president's wife of the Wellington Group.'

Thinking about this, Evelyn felt no regret, only blessings.

After all, only Nicole is a match for Edward, and they are meant to be together.

In the evening, Evelyn returned to Hameen with Landon, Simon, and William.

"Evelyn!"

As soon as Evelyn walked into Oasis Villa, Jennifer's sweet voice called out from afar.

Evelyn's eyes lit up with joy. "Jennifer!"

Charlie’s youngest daughter, Jennifer, ran down the corridor like a happy bird, rushing to Evelyn.

"Evelyn! I missed you so much!"

Jennifer hugged Evelyn tightly, her eyes teary and her nose red.

"Oh, my baby, are you crying because you're happy I'm back?" Evelyn hugged Jennifer, kissing her forehead.

"Evelyn, you're not leaving again, right?" Jennifer asked, her face like a budding flower, tearfully.

"No, I'm staying. I'm here to help Charlie with the business and to be with all of you. I'm not leaving again."

Seeing the worry in Jennifer's eyes, Evelyn felt guilty.

She had been too focused on freedom and chasing love, neglecting her family.

Luckily, she realized her mistake and came back. Hearing Jennifer call her made her heart melt.

"That's great, Evelyn! Everyone's been waiting for you!"

After hugging Evelyn, Jennifer politely greeted Landon and Simon.

"Hello, Landon. Hello, Simon."

"Jennifer, how many times do I have to tell you, don't be so formal. Treat us like you treat Evelyn."

Simon sighed, feeling a bit sorry. "You and Evelyn are both our sisters."

Jennifer nodded shyly, but she knew she was different from Evelyn.

"Jennifer, you've lost weight. Has studying been tough?" Landon asked gently, hands behind his back.

"I've been prepping for my graduation performance, so it's been a bit tiring, but I'm enjoying it!"

Jennifer's eyes flickered with a bit of timidity. "Will you come to my graduation performance? I know you're all busy. It's fine if you can't make it!"

Landon said, "We'll go."

Simon echoed, "Second that!"

"Of course, we'll go! Do you even need to ask?" Evelyn draped her arm over Jennifer's shoulder. "Just let me know the date, and I'll clear my schedule for you!"

"I'll definitely let you know! Thank you all so much!" Jennifer's voice trembled with excitement.

Evelyn gently stroked her silky hair.

Jennifer was always so well-behaved and understanding, never causing any worry. But because of this, Evelyn felt a pang of guilt and heartache.

As the youngest daughter of the Taylor family and Joyce's only child, Jennifer should have been showered with love. But Evelyn, as Charlie's legitimate daughter, had often overshadowed her.

Despite this, Jennifer never showed any jealousy. Raised well by Joyce, she always respected her elders and cared for her siblings. As an adult, she never asked the family for money, earning scholarships and working part-time, living a simple life. So much so that her classmates didn't even know she was the daughter of the richest man in Hameen.

But Evelyn knew Jennifer felt a deep sense of inferiority, always feeling like she wasn't a legitimate member of the Taylor family, which made her overly polite.

"Jennifer, do you have an extra ticket? Can I come too?" William asked gently.

Jennifer looked up, her face turning as red as a cherry when she met William's eyes.

"Yes!"

"Then I'll go with Evelyn." William's smile was warm and brotherly.

He had watched both Evelyn and Jennifer grow up, remembering Jennifer as a little girl following Evelyn around with a runny nose and a lollipop.

Evelyn had no doubts; Jennifer's delicate face and shy personality made her blush easily.

But she didn't know Jennifer had a crush on William for seven years.

"Let's go, I'm starving. I've been craving Joyce's cooking for days. Let's eat," Evelyn said, holding Jennifer's hand as they headed toward the villa.

"Joyce is still preparing. You came back too quickly; the food isn't ready yet," Jennifer said, shaking Evelyn's arm like when they were kids.

"What? But I'm so hungry!" Evelyn's stomach growled.

"Evelyn, how about some snacks first?"

With a doting smile, William took a piece of chocolate from his pocket, unwrapped it, and held it to Evelyn's lips.

Evelyn naturally turned to take a bite.

Seeing their intimate interaction, Jennifer pursed her lips, feeling a pang of jealousy.

She knew William had always liked Evelyn.

'William could have taken over his father's business, become a top lawyer, or a prosecutor like Simon. But he chose to stay by Evelyn's side, even if it meant no career advancement. In William's eyes, he could never see me.'

Everyone was happy tonight, not just because Evelyn had divorced and cut ties with the Wellington family, but also because Jennifer had taken time off from Mugden to come back, making the house lively again.

The servants hadn't seen Evelyn and Jennifer laughing and playing together for a long time, and they all wore joyful smiles.

Unfortunately, Nancy had married far away to Aurora Isle, and Wade was busy running for president, so they couldn't come back. Otherwise, having the three sisters together would have been a beautiful sight!

Joyce and the servants brought dish after dish to the table, each one looking and smelling delicious.

But Evelyn could only look at the food longingly because Charlie had called everyone to the living room for a family meeting.

Landon, Simon, Jennifer, Donna, Susan, and Joyce, still wearing an apron, all gathered there. Charlie sat in the center of the sofa, looking stern and severe.

"Charlie, can't you say whatever you need to after we eat? Everyone's hungry," Evelyn said, swallowing as the aroma of the food wafted over.

"Look at what you've done, and you still have the nerve to eat?" Charlie sneered.

"Isn't it good that I'm divorced? We should celebrate," Evelyn said with a bright smile.

Everyone else's expressions were fine, but Jennifer was so shocked that her eyes widened in disbelief.

'I hadn't expected that Evelyn had been married! And even more surprising, she was already divorced! What made Evelyn decide to get married? It couldn't have been for love.'

"Three years away from home, running off to marry some random guy, and ending up with nothing. Edward from the Wellington family is about to marry someone else! You're my daughter, how can you let the Wellington family bully you like this?! Why didn't you bankrupt the Wellington family before coming back?!"

Charlie was so angry he hadn't slept well since yesterday. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He wished he could personally go to the Wellington Group, grab Edward by the collar, and give him ten slaps!

"Charlie, can't we just let this go?"

Evelyn sighed, suddenly losing her appetite. "The Wellington family was built by Byron. How could I destroy it? Is Charlie's daughter so heartless?"

"I'd rather you be heartless! You'd still be my proud little girl! I'd rather clean up your mess than see you bullied by outsiders and suffer for three years!" Charlie finally couldn't hold back and shouted, his neck veins bulging and his eyes red.

Everyone was stunned.

Landon lowered his eyes and pressed his lips together, and Simon looked deeply at Evelyn, his eyes filled with worry.

Evelyn's eyelashes fluttered gently, a tinge of sourness touching her nose.

She knew how much Charlie loved her. It was because of his love that she didn't dare to tell him about her marriage to Edward.

But it seemed to have backfired.

"Donna, I heard from the Wellington family that you met Evelyn before. Did you know about Evelyn's marriage to Edward?" Charlie, full of anger, glared at Donna.

"Yes, I knew from the beginning," Donna answered straightforwardly, her eyes downcast.
