Chapter 561 Strong Alliance, the Alexander Family in Trouble (2)

The conference room erupted into chaos, and security personnel were deployed to restore order.

Today's event was massive, with way too many media outlets invited. All the reporters swarmed around Zachary, trapping him in the center, unable to move.

For the media, a big news story is like sharks smelling blood.

Especially when it's a huge scandal: Zachary, the most promising candidate in the mayoral election, is secretly a corrupt official who abuses his power for money and women.

Who wouldn't want the headline? They were eager to devour him.

"Mr. Mayor, should I call headquarters for more backup? This is getting out of hand," the secretary asked Mario urgently.

Mario stood in an inconspicuous corner, leaving the wide stage to his opponent. With a smirk, he said, "Let's just enjoy the show. No need to overdo it. But make sure to keep me and my wife safe, so we don't get caught up in the mess when the real drama unfolds."

...

To prevent the situation from worsening, the Alexander family sent more people to guard the front and back doors of the venue.

At that moment, three black sedans aggressively parked in a row at the main entrance.

The doors opened, and prosecutors in suits, with badges pinned to their chests, quickly got out.

Leading the group was Simon, his sharp eyes and serious expression a stark contrast to his usual joking demeanor with family. His powerful presence was intimidating.

Seeing the prosecutors decisively approaching, the security guards at the door exchanged uneasy glances.

"Step aside and don't obstruct our work," Simon said calmly, his expression cold.

The guards didn't dare to stop them and obediently made way.

As soon as he entered the hall, Simon pressed the Bluetooth earpiece in his left ear and contacted Evelyn, "I'm in."

"Wow, that was surprisingly smooth," Evelyn said, surprised.

"Hey, you should know who's handling this. When it matters, you can count on me..."

However, Simon's smugness didn't last long. The Alexander family's people rushed over, blocking their way like a wall.

"Oh, looks like someone got a reality check," Evelyn's teasing voice came through Simon's earpiece, "Things aren't going as smoothly, huh?"

"Can you see me?" Simon lowered his voice, quickly scanning the surroundings.

"Of course. I can see you and everything happening inside."

On the other side, Evelyn rested her chin on her hand, smiling at the screen showing Zachary surrounded by the crowd and Elbert, pale and stuck in a dilemma. Her lips curled up in delight, "The show is just getting started."

Simon straightened up, adjusted his tie, and said, "Hmph, Evelyn, just wait. The best part of today's drama will be delivered by yours truly."

"That's all well and good, but Simon, you need to get inside first," Evelyn replied.

As soon as she finished speaking, Edward's warm hand rested on her shoulder, gently stroking. "Evelyn, don't worry. I told you, I have people inside who will ensure Simon gets in smoothly."

Evelyn's clear eyes narrowed slightly as she leaned softly into his embrace.

She was used to being independent, whether as his wife or working alone as a doctor without Borders. She had always been strong and self-reliant.

But with Edward, she just wanted to be a woman cared for by him. No matter what, he always pampered her, giving her an irreplaceable sense of security.

"Sorry, there's an important event here today. You can't go in," one of the Alexander family's bodyguards said provocatively.

"Mugden First Judicial Department, Prosecutor Simon," Simon said, his eyes dark, "I'm here on orders. The prosecution has approved the arrest of Councilman Zachary for investigation. Do not obstruct official duties!"

"We haven't received any notification. We only know that unauthorized personnel are not allowed inside," the bodyguard's attitude grew tougher.

Simon smirked coldly, "Do you realize you're committing a crime?"

The bodyguards, backed by a powerful family, didn't take him seriously.

"Judging by your attire, you must not be from an official agency. If you're so afraid of us going in to arrest someone, there's only one possibility: you're from the Alexander Group," Simon sneered.

The bodyguards panicked. Before they came to block, Elbert had explicitly ordered them not to mention the Alexander family. They were only supposed to delay, allowing the family to maneuver. If Zachary were taken by the prosecution, it would be over.

So they had to insist, "No! We're not from the Alexander Group! We're here on Mario's orders to maintain order!"

"Oh? You're Mario's people? I don't recognize any of you."

A calm voice accompanied by footsteps came, and everyone turned to look.

It was Mario's chief secretary, followed by a team of bodyguards.

The Alexander family's bodyguards were instantly embarrassed.

"You've got some nerve, impersonating Mario's people right under his nose, trying to frame him," the secretary said sternly. Then he turned to Simon, smiling, "Simon, I think you should issue another arrest warrant for these people obstructing official duties. It would clear our mayor's name."

Simon nodded lightly, "I'll investigate this thoroughly."

"That's good. You should know, our mayor fully supports the organization's decisions and will cooperate with the prosecution's work," the secretary cleverly praised his boss.

The Alexander family's people lost their confidence and dared not obstruct any further.

"Thank you for your cooperation."

Simon and his team quickly headed towards the venue.

As soon as they left, the secretary went to a corner, avoiding others, and made a phone call.

...

On the other side, Edward's phone rang just as he was about to kiss Evelyn.

"Stop messing around... Answer the phone," Evelyn's cheeks flushed, her hand pressed against his chest, feeling the shape of his muscles through his neat shirt, her thoughts drifting.

Edward's eyes darkened. Taking advantage of her distraction, he grabbed her chin and kissed her, then pressed the speaker button.

The secretary's voice came through, "Mr. Wellington, I've completed the task you assigned. Simon has entered the venue."

"Thank you."

Edward suddenly pressed his tall body against Evelyn, pinning her against the car window. The next second, he passionately kissed her lips. He was never satisfied with a mere taste; with her, his possessive nature was fully revealed.

Evelyn responded to his fervent kiss, her eyes moist, unconsciously wrapping her arms around his neck, but she was deeply surprised.

She had clearly seen everything that happened in the hall through the camera. Edward's person, could it be Mario's chief secretary? That was impressive.

The secretary respectfully replied, "You're too kind, Mr. Wellington. It's my honor to serve you. Besides, helping you also helps Mario. After all, the mayor has been looking forward to today's show for a long time."

"In the future..."

"In the future, if you need anything, Mr. Wellington, just let me know!" The secretary was very attentive, as if Edward were his true boss.

The temperature inside the car gradually rose. Edward reluctantly left her soft lips, smiling contentedly. It was unclear if his satisfaction was due to the secretary's response or Evelyn's enthusiastic response.

After the call ended, Evelyn's forehead was covered in a thin layer of sweat.

"How are you everywhere? Even Mario's side has your people?" She panted in his arms, her eyes soft and alluring, "People in politics are very shrewd. They only value wealth and status. A chief secretary is the most difficult confidant to buy. How did you do it?"

Edward gently smoothed her sweat-dampened hair, raising an eyebrow, "I can buy him because I have enough money and status."

"Ugh... So arrogant," Evelyn poked his cheek with her fingertip.

"He's been with Mario for many years. But I know Mario has a bad temper and is extremely harsh on his subordinates. Working under him is very stressful. Moreover, despite his loyalty for years, Mario has deliberately suppressed him during several promotion opportunities. If it were you, would you still be devoted to such a boss?"

Evelyn nodded in realization, "So, he found that politics wasn't working out and wanted to switch to the business world. You took the opportunity to promise him benefits, like having him work for you and later arranging for him to join the Wellington Group, right?"

Edward's eyes were filled with love, smiling, "Evelyn, you're truly brilliant."

"Train this secretary well. He's quick-witted and can please both sides without making mistakes," Evelyn's eyes sparkled with wisdom, "Keep him; he'll be very useful in the future."

...

Calvin thought he had everything arranged and was about to send people to move his sister and brother-in-law when Simon, leading a team of prosecutors, aggressively approached them.

"Calvin! How did they get in?" Helen trembled behind him, her dignified demeanor gone.

Calvin gritted his teeth, his expression dark as he watched Simon approach.

"Mr. Alexander, things didn't go as you planned. No matter how you obstruct, justice will prevail," Simon said with a faint smile, his righteousness overpowering Calvin. "After all, Mugden isn't your private territory. Some people think they can use power to oppress others, but they're close to their downfall."

Calvin was furious but forced a stiff smile, "Simon, I don't know what you're talking about."

Simon raised an eyebrow, "I'm a prosecutor. Please step aside and don't block the way."

With that, he forcefully shouldered Calvin aside and led his team into the venue.

Calvin rubbed his sore shoulder, glaring at Simon's back with a fierce look.

"Calvin! What do we do? They're going to take Zachary! Stop them!" Helen was frantic, shaking Calvin's arm vigorously.

"Shut up!" Calvin roared, unable to bear it.

Helen was scared into silence, her mouth agape.

...

Facing the cameras, the usually eloquent Zachary was pale, his hair disheveled, wanting to escape immediately.

At that moment, the crisp sound of leather shoes echoed, and the crowd instinctively made way.

"Look! It's the prosecutors!"

Zachary shuddered at the words.

Simon decisively strode up to him, presenting the arrest warrant.

The room fell silent.

Only Simon's clear and firm voice broke the silence, calm and precise:

"Zachary, you're suspected of corruption, abuse of power, and trading power for sex. Please come with us for the investigation!"
