Chapter 74 Secretly Tracking Lily
At the KS World Hotel, in the office, 'busy' Lily started the game again, where wielding a chainsaw to become a butcher chasing the survivors in terror.
On the table were coke and fried chicken, Lily's favorite snacks while gaming.
Forget about top foreign cuisine, nothing beat summer barbecues, winter Mexican food, and fried chicken in Lily's hands.
Lily suddenly remembered the three years of marriage with Edward, enduring the pain of smoke allergies, and her wearing a mask in the kitchen all year round to cook the most exquisite dishes for Edward.
Lily remembered how Joyce mastered cooking and firmly captured Charlie's heart after marrying Charlie. Lily thought she could do the same, hoping Edward would admire her cooking and maybe look at her more.
For this, Lily secretly attended Mugden's top culinary school to improve her cooking skills. In the classroom, Lily was the only girl among a group of boys.
After mastering the skills, Lily's cooking surpassed even the professors', making them consider Lily the best student they had ever trained.
But in the end, Lily was shocked to realize that even though she captured Edward's stomach, she couldn't capture his heart.
Moreover, Edward rarely dined at home. Even when he did, he never commented on her cooking.
Who could bear the taste of hope fading away? However, Lily had persisted for three years.
Feeling frustrated, Lily angrily took a bite of the fried chicken, imagining it was Edward's neck.
Fortunately, Lily no longer had to endure this suffering.
Now Lily only wished to exchange love for Charlie's health and the safety of her family.
A knock on the door, and William walked in." Lily, I've delivered the items and conveyed the message."
"Edward definitely disagrees with resolving this privately, right?" Lily said nonchalantly.
"Yes, Edward said you must hand over Ulysses, or there will be no compromise," answered William.
Lily commented, "Edward truly dares to demand the impossible."
Lily won another round, exited the game, and grabbed fried chicken in one hand and cola in the other, looking content. "I investigated the scene afterward. There were no cameras nearby. There's no evidence to prove Ulysses harmed Edward. Even if it goes to court, Edward can't do anything to Ulysses."
The Taylor family members were all smart. They wouldn't let their family be at a disadvantage.
"But Lily, I feel Edward may have sensed something," William said, lowering his voice anxiously. "When I met Edward, I noticed a military academy graduation album by his bedside. He suddenly took it out and looked at it. He must have discovered something."
Lily's beautiful eyes narrowed slightly as she pondered.
Evelyn then slowly said, "It's okay. Ulysses' information is deeply encrypted by the national security agency and Ulysses himself. He has never appeared publicly with KnightSpear Group, so no one can link Ulysses to the Taylor family. I'll protect Ulysses. Let Edward investigate all he wants. It might wear him out!"
Years ago, the lady of the Taylor family gave birth to quadruplets, with Landon and Simon taking Charlie's surname, while Aaron and Ulysses taking his mother Victoria Brown's surname, Brown.
Landon and Simon looked extremely alike, but when it came to Aaron and Ulysses, it seemed like a genetic mutation occurred, making him look nothing like Landon and Simon. This fact provided excellent cover for Ulysses.
"Also, I inquired with Edward about the press conference," William uttered.
"What did he say?" Lily's eyes flashed.
"He said it's a private matter of the Wellington family and has nothing to do with him. He looked displeased," William sighed unhappily.
Lily's pupils contracted, and she bit into a chicken leg, muttering. "I know Edward quite well. Despite his shortcomings in relationships, he is straightforward and honest in other aspects. If he didn't do it, he would have told you directly. So, it seems he's involved."
William was surprised. "But what could be Edward's motive? He's the president of the Wellington family, and tarnishing the family's reputation wouldn't benefit him."
Suddenly, Lily remembered Edward embracing her and giving her that domineering, passionate kiss.
Blushing, she irritably tossed the chicken bone accurately into the trash.
"Who knows? Maybe Edward has some kind of mental illness. I was married to Edward for three years and never noticed."
In the evening, Landon's Rolls-Royce awaited outside the hotel gates, drawing admiring glances from onlookers.
In an inconspicuous corner lurked a black Maybach.
In the back seat, Edward, with pressed lips, fixed his gaze on the Rolls-Royce.
Shortly after, Lily emerged with William by her side.
Lily's attire was particularly eye-catching. Although she had always been beautiful and striking in previous appearances, it was mostly in high-end suits, high heels, red lips, leading an aggressive demeanor. Lily now had a delicate makeup on her exquisite face, her long hair cascading down, wearing a sky-blue silk dress with a well-tailored cut that accentuated her slender waist and graceful figure, making her look exceptionally beautiful.
Edward's gaze deepened as he felt a twinge of bitterness. Lily possessed the looks and figure to match any beautiful outfit in the world, yet during those three years with Edward, she had worn nothing but plain white cotton dresses and white sneakers.
Both Landon and Edward could provide Lily with everything she needed. Why did Lily withhold so much during her three-year marriage with Edward? Was she trying to make others believe Edward couldn't treat her well?
As Edward watched Lily get into Landon's car, his face tensed as he ordered, "Follow them!"
The Rolls-Royce headed toward Hameen.
Inside the car, Lily proudly handed Landon the financial report prepared for Charlie and a series of plans for future business expansions as she said, "Landon, I succeeded for the first time. My performance has been good these past two months, right? I'm amazing, aren't I?"
Landon flipped through the documents with his left hand, affectionately patting Lily's head with his right. "Indeed, our little princess. You’re very talented and smart. You've done in two months while others in a year. It seems you're naturally inclined for business."
"I'm not a little princess. I'm the queen opening up new markets for our Oasis Villa." Lily smirked proudly. "In the future, when I become the CEO of KnightSpear Group, the entire Hameen will bow down at my feet. Not just Hameen, but Mugden too. The KnightSpear Group will enter Mugden, and the days of profit solely for the Wellington family will soon be over!"
"Very good. Now you look like Empress Catherine II of Russia." Landon nodded gently, then asked with concern, "If you have to compete with Edward in the future to enter Mugden, can you handle it?"
"Of course! I can't wait for it." Lily clenched her fist, her eyes gleaming with determination. "Love may have failed, but why shouldn't I succeed in business?"
"Alright, with that determination, I will fully support you." Landon's gentle expression was quite charming.
"How do you plan to support me, Landon?" Lily asked eagerly.
"I'll pray for you. The Lord will bless you," Landon replied.
Lily fell silent.
Not far behind, the Maybach followed closely.
"Mr. Wellington, it seems they're heading toward Hameen!" Bart said as he drove.
"That's the direction to Hameen." Edward's voice rumbled like a bass.
"Could Mr. Landon be taking Lily to meet his parents? This is serious, Mr. Wellington! Lily might be taken away by Mr. Landon. You need to do something!" Bart was worried.
"How dare her." Edward's temples throbbed as he spoke each word through clenched teeth. "Lily hasn't filed for divorce from me yet. Officially, she's still my wife. Is she in such a rush to find a second husband? Am I as good as dead to her?"
'Ulysses had only injured me a few days ago, and Lily didn't even care. And now she was going back with a new boyfriend to meet his parents? Lily, are you so eager to distance yourself from me, to insult me in every possible way?' Edward meditated as he staring at the distance.
"But Mr. Wellington, according to the agreement, after Byron Wellington's birthday, you and Lily must proceed with the divorce. There will come a day when you won't be able to control things anymore." Bart sighed helplessly.
Edward felt a bit heartbroken.
For some reason, he felt anxious and restless.
