Chapter 339 Edward Gets Tricked!
Lori twisted her ankle, flailing her arms wildly in the air, and fell flat on her back comically and embarrassingly!
"Ouch!"
She sat on the ground, tears welling up in her eyes from the pain, her lips trembling uncontrollably.
Edward dashed away like the wind, disappearing from her sight in the blink of an eye.
At that moment, Bart also came running over.
He saw Lori lying miserably on the ground, but after just a glance, he followed in Edward's footsteps and left.
In just a few seconds, Lori began to doubt her appearance!
"Lori? What are you doing sitting on the ground? What kind of behavior is this!"
Bradley happened to come out for a smoke and frowned when he saw Lori.
Lori complained, "Dad! You saw me fall and didn't even help me up! And now you're making sarcastic comments!"
Lori stood up shakily, her ankle swollen, and her heel broken. In anger, she kicked the broken shoe away!
"I just ran into Mr. Wellington. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have made such a fool of myself. But I don't know what he's in such a hurry for." Lori sat on the couch, gasping in pain.
She had thought that tonight she could make a stunning impression on Edward, but it turned into a complete mess, and she was so frustrated she was about to cry!
Bradley remembered how Edward had suddenly left everyone behind, looking extremely anxious, and his expression darkened.
Underground parking lot.
"Mr. Wellington! Where are you going? What happened?"
Bart, sweating profusely, followed behind Edward.
"Evelyn is in trouble. I have to find her immediately!" Edward's face was icy.
The veins on the back of his hand bulged as he opened the car door.
Bart replied, "I-I'll go with you! It might be good to have some backup!"
Edward objected to his suggestion, "No, you drive too slowly! Besides, you need to stay here and handle things!"
With that, the car engine roared deafeningly and sped off!
Bart watched the car disappear in a cloud of dust, his heart tightening as he sighed.
Bart said, "Mrs. Wellington, please be safe. Mr. Wellington, you must bring Mrs. Wellington back safely!"
The black Lamborghini sped down Mugden Street.
Edward murmured, "Evelyn, I'm coming. Please be safe, please be safe!"
Edward's veins throbbed on his forehead, his heart pounding wildly as he floored the gas pedal.
On the passenger seat, his phone displayed a slightly blurry, obviously candid photo.
In the photo, Evelyn was being held by a stranger in a suit.
Who was the man holding her?
Was she drunk?
No, Evelyn never drank with unfamiliar men. The only two times she got drunk were with her brothers.
Could she have been drugged?
At this thought, Edward felt a sharp pain in his chest, his eyes reddening as he gripped the steering wheel tightly.
Hotel.
Edward's suit was soaked with sweat. As he walked into the hotel lobby, his damp phone vibrated continuously.
He looked down at the screen; it was an anonymous call.
"Hello," Edward said in a deep voice, his mouth dry.
"Mr. Wellington, it's the 20th floor, room 2051."
A strange male voice came from the other end, "I left the key card in the flowerpot at the stairwell on the 20th floor. If you want to save Ms. Taylor, you need to hurry! You might regret it if you're too late!"
Edward was about to move forward but suddenly frowned, "Who are you? Did you send me the photo?"
The other side remained silent.
"Are you a paparazzo or someone's pawn? How did you get the hotel room key card?" Edward's mind was sharp and asked the most crucial questions.
The other side answered, "Mr. Wellington, those are good questions, but I can't answer them. The only thing I can tell you is that I have my reasons for doing this."
Edward knew the whole situation was strange, but given the urgency, he couldn't afford to think too much!
He took the elevator to the 20th floor and found the key card for room 2051 in the flowerpot.
As he reached the door, his heart pounded so hard that it would burst from his chest.
All the way there, he had been wrestling with his thoughts, considering countless possibilities.
But no matter how he thought about it, he couldn't convince himself to just stand by and watch Evelyn enter a hotel with a stranger!
Edward took the key card and swiped it to open the door.
His Adam's apple bobbed as he lifted his long legs and walked in.
The room was dim and quiet, with a faint floral scent in the air. The chaotic scene he had imagined and he couldn't accept, was nowhere to be found.
"Evelyn?" Edward's heart pounded loudly as he called her name in a hoarse voice.
No response.
He felt suffocated as he took one step at a time towards the bedroom.
At that moment, he vaguely heard rustling sounds coming from the room, and countless terrifying thoughts flooded his mind like a tidal wave!
"Evelyn!"
Edward couldn't wait any longer and, with red eyes, forcefully pushed open the door!
A sharp female voice suddenly pierced through the darkness, filled with extreme fear, echoing throughout the room!
The next second, a woman's naked, tender body appeared before Edward's eyes!
His mind spun, and his temples throbbed violently!
The naked woman in front of him was clearly Jessica!
Jessica's long hair covered her chest, her delicate body trembling in the soft, dim light.
She exuded an aura that evoked pity and a protective instinct, filled with a sense of panic. However, her overly calm demeanor, hidden in the shadows with a hint of a sneer in her eyes, revealed her dirty schemes.
Edward immediately turned his back, gritting his teeth and clenching his fists.
The anger and humiliation of being played made his spine feel cold, and every nerve was stretched to the breaking point!
"Edward, why are you here? How did you get in?" Jessica's voice was soft and trembling, her shoulders slightly hunched, her arms crossed over her chest, "Edward, did you see my body?"
"Put on some clothes." Edward's clenched fists seemed ready to explode, his broad shoulders trembling with anger.
He couldn't explain anything and just needed to leave immediately!
He said in anger, "I'll call Eric to come and take you home right away!"
With that, Edward turned to leave without looking back.
Jessica shouted, "Edward! No, don't go!"
Jessica lunged forward, hugging Edward tightly from behind, her naked body shamelessly pressed against him as if she wanted to merge with him, "Edward, I'm so scared, so scared. Please don't go, don't go, okay?"
Edward's eyes were filled with disgust as he coldly ordered, "Let go."
Jessica insisted, "No, I won't!"
Jessica determined to go all the way, rubbed her body against his broad back, "I've never had a boyfriend since I was a child. My body is clean and untouched by anyone. Now that you've seen my body, you have to take responsibility, Edward!"
Edward asked coldly, "Responsibility?"
Edward's lips curled into a cold smile, his expression icy, "I will only take responsibility for one woman in my life, and that's Evelyn."
With that, he forcefully pried Jessica's arms off him and easily broke free.
Jessica couldn't match Edward's strength and was thrown onto the bed!
In the blink of an eye, Edward had already stormed out of the room.
Jessica cried, "Edward! I stripped naked and threw myself at you, and you didn't even look at me. Why? Why?"
Jessica pounded the bed with her fists in anger, her teeth clenched, her hair disheveled, looking like a madwoman driven insane!
Edward, breathing heavily, reached the door and yanked it open.
"Mr. Wellington! Mr. Wellington is out!"
Instantly, Edward's stunned face was engulfed by blinding flashlights.
At the door, a crowd of reporters had gathered, blocking the entrance with their cameras, frantically taking pictures of Edward!
Edward's breath caught, his handsome face was suddenly covered in a layer of icy frost, his lips trembling. He was almost unable to breathe!
It was only then that he realized.
From the moment he received those photos, he had been lured into a meticulously planned trap!
No, this trap was full of holes if he thought carefully.
But the person behind it had accurately grasped his love for Evelyn, even predicting that he would lose his cool for her, making one mistake after another!
Jessica asked, "Edward! Why are there so many reporters?"
At that moment, Jessica feigned confusion and walked out of the bedroom with a white towel wrapped around her half-naked body.
Her performance of being a frightened bird was truly lifelike!
"Is that Jessica, the daughter of the Clark family?"
"It's Jessica! It really is her! Take pictures, quick! We've got the headline!"
"Edward and Jessica having a secret rendezvous at a hotel late at night. Jessica isn't even wearing clothes. This is explosive!"
Jessica shyly hid behind Edward, looking as if she was relying on him for protection.
Edward's face was ashen, sweat slowly dripping down his face.
"Mr. Wellington! Are you and Miss Clark dating? Otherwise, why would you book a hotel room together?"
"Mr. Wellington! Just admit it, we're all adults here. There's nothing to be embarrassed about!"
"Miss Clark! Why don't you tell us, what exactly is your relationship?"
"Get out."
Edward's eyes were cold and fierce and said coldly, "All of you, get out!"
