Chapter 122 Eric Completely Heartbroken
Outside Riverside Villa, William paced nervously.
Seeing Evelyn with a suitcase, he rushed over. "Evelyn, did Edward give you trouble?"
"If he tries, he'll regret it," Evelyn said, cracking her knuckles.
William noticed her slippers and frowned. "Why are you in slippers?"
"I left in a hurry and forgot to change."
Actually, there were white sneakers at the villa entrance, but Evelyn chose slippers to show her disdain for Edward and the past three years. Those sneakers belonged to Lily, neatly placed, ready to be trampled, while Evelyn's shoes were all high-end heels. She would never wear Lily's old shoes. And She would never look back.
"To KS WORLD."
The Bugatti roared as Evelyn sped away.
Upstairs, Edward watched the Bugatti leave, his expression dark.
Back at the hotel, Evelyn stayed silent, taking the private elevator with William to the general manager's office.
In the hallway, they were startled by Eric, leaning against the wall in black clothes.
"Eric? How did you get up here?" Evelyn asked, surprised.
"I climbed," Eric smirked, sweating slightly, his muscles showing under his suit.
William glared at him, thinking, 'What a show-off!'
Eric, as if reading his mind, pulled his shirt collar down further, giving William a wicked look.
"Are the executive secretary and security just for show? How could anyone get up here without an appointment or my approval?" Evelyn's tone was severe.
Eric's heart sank. 'I wanted to surprise her, but I scared her.'
"I'll handle it," William said coldly.
"No, it's not their fault. I snuck up here," Eric said, grabbing Evelyn's arm. "They tried to stop me. Don't blame them, blame me!"
"Dock the executive secretary's salary and fire today's security," Evelyn ordered, pulling her arm away and heading to the office.
"Yes," William said, feeling pleased.
"Lily, no, Ms. Taylor!" Eric chased after her, looking apologetic. "I was wrong. How can I make it up to you?"
"Eric," Evelyn said coldly, "Come in. I need to ask you something."
Eric, relieved, followed her into the office.
William was left guarding the door, feeling like a guard dog, very aggrieved.
Once the door closed, Evelyn went straight to the sofa, sitting with her legs crossed, exuding elegance and authority. Eric couldn't take his eyes off her, feeling overwhelmed by her presence.
He swallowed hard, thinking, 'The aura of the Taylor family's eldest daughter is no joke. I love her even more!'
"Ms. Taylor, with our history, I knew you wouldn't make my visit for nothing," Eric said, squinting his charming eyes and moving closer.
Evelyn's cold voice stopped him. "Eric, do you think I was joking before?"
Eric looked stunned.
"Lily might have tolerated you because you helped her, but Evelyn doesn't have the patience for idle chat," Evelyn said, her eyes distant, making Eric shiver.
Unwilling to give up, Eric stepped forward, but Evelyn's sharp gaze halted him. "Even though you're Evelyn now, you're still Lily! Does changing a name mean we have no relationship anymore?!"
"From the moment I finalized the divorce with Edward, Lily was dead and gone," Evelyn smirked. "Neither you nor Edward have the right to be in my life. You're naturally flirtatious; stick to that. But I will never fall into your arms."
"Did I do something wrong? Tell me, and I'll change!" Eric's eyes reddened with urgency.
"One more thing, Mr. Clark," Evelyn's eyes darkened. "What you did to Molly at Grandpa's birthday party, don't think I don't know."
Eric's face turned pale, memories of that night flooding back.
In the bushes, his hand gripped the girl's shoulder, her tender skin driving him wild. Her kisses were inexperienced but passionate. If she weren't Molly, Edward's sister, and if he didn't have someone in his heart, he might have gone along with it. He's not stoic; any normal guy would devour the lamb delivered to his mouth.
"Your flirtations are your business, but Molly is innocent. I won't let anyone hurt her."
"No, Evelyn, you misunderstood!" Eric stammered, sweating through his shirt. "She was drugged that night, I just..."
"Just wanted to be her antidote?" Evelyn interrogated.
Eric's throat tightened, making it worse.
"At the Wellington family, if something happened, you should have notified them. How could you take matters into your own hands?" Evelyn laughed, eyes full of contempt. "You did it, but you don't even have the courage to admit it?"
"I'm being framed! She kissed me, hugged me! I didn't do anything!" Eric was desperate, unable to explain.
Evelyn waved her hand, losing patience. "Eric, Molly and you are from different worlds. She's too innocent and fragile. Your casual actions with women could destroy her."
Eric felt deflated, realizing no explanation would work. Evelyn had already labeled him a "douchebag."
"I have work to do. Please leave. And next time, if you show up without an appointment, I'll have security throw you out. William, see him out!"
"Evelyn!" Eric, desperate, rushed to her, trying for one last chance.
As he approached, there was a sharp sound—a hidden butterfly knife, its cold blade already at his throat!
