Chapter 255 Kiss

As they were about to leave, William just couldn't hold it in anymore. With eyes all red, he lunged forward and grabbed Jennifer's skinny wrist.

Jennifer felt like her wrist was about to snap, and she winced in pain.

"Come with me." William yanked her and threw his arm around her shoulder, dragging her along.

Jennifer was still super bummed, keeping her head down, tears glistening in her eyes.

She didn't really wanna go with him, but she couldn't lie to herself.

'What do I do? I still really like William,' Jennifer thought.

Seeing them leave, Gordon, who wasn't about to make a scene over a girl, didn't chase after them.

Watching William and Jennifer walk away, looking like a perfect match, Gordon remembered William's red eyes when he fought for her. Suddenly, a sinister smile crept on his face, "If you can be Mr. Taylor's godson, why can't I be his son-in-law?"

William dragged Jennifer back to her room and slammed the door shut.

"I feel like crap." Jennifer flopped onto the sofa, her chest heaving as she tried to catch her breath.

She had just started to sober up, but now she felt dizzy again from all the drama.

William had been fuming, but seeing her like that, his anger started to fade.

"Your tolerance for booze has always sucked, why'd you drink so much?" William sighed, shaking his head. He grabbed a cup, poured some water, and leaned down to offer it to her. "Get up and drink some water."

"No, I don't wanna drink." Jennifer turned over sulkily, her voice tinged with a bit of resentment. "Just go, I wanna rest."

"Don't sleep here. You'll catch a cold."

"None of your business, go take care of Evelyn!" Jennifer curled up into a ball, shouting at him in a fit of pique.

William was suddenly stunned, feeling a faint pain in his chest.

Then, with a furrowed brow, he said nothing and directly picked Jennifer up, striding towards the bedroom.

"William, put me down!" Jennifer shouted, her heart pounding wildly.

As her legs swung, her fuzzy slippers fell to the ground, revealing her cute little feet.

Hearing the sound, William instinctively looked down.

Seeing Jennifer's small feet, he felt like he was committing a crime, quickly averting his gaze, feeling inexplicably dry-mouthed and his heartbeat gradually becoming erratic.

William laid Jennifer flat on the bed and covered her with a blanket. "Rest well. Good night."

Jennifer, her eyes hazy with drunkenness, her mind muddled, grabbed William's hand with a sudden burst of strength, pulling him off balance and causing him to fall on top of her!

In an instant, his chest pressed against hers, their noses bumping together, and his lips were kissing her soft lips.

Jennifer squinted her drunken eyes, unable to move under William's weight, shyly curling her toes.

William's eyes widened in shock as their lips met. His body trembled, and a surge of blood, like a wild horse galloping, coursed through his veins.

'So sweet,' she thought.

Jennifer slowly lost consciousness, her arms wrapping around William's neck, deepening the kiss.

Outside the window, the night was serene and the crescent moon seemed to be smiling at them secretly.

The dinner ended in a less-than-harmonious atmosphere thanks to Gordon's presence.

The Flynn family had come in three cars, and on the way back, Brian coldly said, "Gordon, let's share a ride. I have something to say to you."

"William, you and Isla take another car back."

Gordon's face darkened as he pursed his lips and got into the car with Brian.

William sat in the back seat with Isla, while Jesse sat in the front passenger seat.

Under the car's interior light, Isla noticed William's cheeks were unusually flushed, his eyes dull, his breathing a bit rapid.

"William, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Do you have a fever?" Isla, who doted on William the most, was extremely anxious at the slightest sign of trouble.

"Huh? Isla, what did you say?" William snapped out of it, his eyes still a bit vacant, seeming that he hadn't yet recovered from that kiss tonight.

"William, why is your face so red?" Jesse looked at him through the rearview mirror and teased, "The first time I kissed my first love, my face was as red as yours."

"Jesse, stop talking nonsense." William coughed lightly, his face turning even redder. "Isla, I'm fine. Don't worry. By the way, I'll come here early tomorrow to pick up Evelyn and go back to Mugden with her. My vacation is over, and I need to get back to work with her."

Thinking about how William humbly washed Evelyn's feet in front of everyone tonight, Isla felt super uncomfortable. She frowned and said, "William, you used to work for Landon, the CEO of KnightSpear Group. Being his secretary had a lot of potential. Why the heck did you go to be Evelyn's secretary? What kind of career moves can you make if you stick with her? In the end, the KnightSpear Group will still be Landon's, right?"

"Isla, haven't you been keeping up with the news? Evelyn's a big deal in Mugden now, everyone knows her. I think she's just as capable as Landon," Jesse chimed in.

"That's all because her dad is Charlie. She can do whatever she wants without any obstacles!" Isla said, feeling a bit indignant.

"Isla, Evelyn treats me really well. I'm happy and satisfied working with her." William held Isla's hand, his gaze deep and passionate. "The most important thing is that Evelyn needs me. As long as she needs me, I'll stay by her side no matter what."

Isla was stunned, her heart sinking.

Jesse also looked at William in disbelief. This deep and heartfelt declaration was no different from a confession to Evelyn.

"William, you're so devoted to her, but is Evelyn the same to you?" Isla felt that William was bewitched by Evelyn, and she was extremely anxious. "You are the pride of Brian and me! Look at what you are doing every day by Evelyn's side! Even if the Flynn family owes the Taylor family a favor, Evelyn shouldn't treat you like this!"

Seeing Isla on the verge of tears, William felt helpless and hugged her. "Isla, you're overthinking it. Evelyn is a really good person. She has never asked anything of me. Everything I do is of my own free will."

In another car, the atmosphere was also super tense.

"From now on, you are not allowed to cause any more trouble for the Taylor family!" Brian sternly rebuked. "I've taught you from a young age that you can't forget your roots, and you can't be ungrateful. Besides, you can't earn infinite money. Your personal assets already reached a significant amount. What more could you possibly want? Why do you have to get involved with the Wellington family and cause trouble for the Taylor family?"

"What did I do wrong? It's the Taylor family who are aggressive and overbearing!" Gordon, recalling the humiliation he suffered tonight, gritted his teeth in hatred. "Evelyn must have complained to Mr. Taylor, which is why he is trying to acquire Evergreen Capital Group and control my law firm! I won't let her succeed. I can't just sit back and do nothing! I will make sure Evelyn suffers a major setback at my hands!"

"You are still so stubborn!" Brian, furious, raised his hand and slapped Gordon. "I am your father. Of course, I am for your own good! Do you think the Taylor family is like the Wellington family, full of internal strife, letting you cause trouble? No one knows better than I do how united and affectionate the Taylor family is! If you provoke the Taylor family, what awaits you is utter ruin, a dead end!"

Gordon was still unconvinced, thinking Brian was exaggerating.

"When the time comes, don't drag the others in the Flynn family!" Brian said.

After resolving his inner conflict, William returned to work by Evelyn's side.

Although his first love ended in such a helpless and sorrowful manner, it also resolved a matter that had troubled him for many years.

However, there was still one thing that he couldn't get out of his mind.

It was that night when Jennifer, drunk and confused, hugged him and planted a deep kiss on his lips.

"William? William! The pan is burning!" Evelyn shouted, snapping William back to reality, and he realized the frying pan in front of him was smoking!

"Oh no!"

William hurriedly turned off the stove and threw the burnt pan into the sink.

"What's wrong with you? You've been so distracted these past few days." Evelyn rushed over, first checking to see if William was okay, making sure he wasn't hurt.

"Sorry, Evelyn, maybe I haven't been resting well. I'll make it again for you." William's heart was pounding, and he was about to wash the pan when Evelyn stopped him. "No need, there's no time. Let's go eat at the hotel. By the way, take me to Thunder Peak National Forest Park this afternoon. I need to meet Joseph."
