Chapter 306 Take My Girl Away
The banquet hall had only a few scattered guests, making it look truly desolate and bleak.
And they were mostly men, all business partners of Patrick!
Except for the server and the pianist, there wasn't a single female guest! Those high-society ladies who usually pretended to be friendly with Tiffany, or those who had to come and flatter her due to the Wellington family's influence, didn't show up at all, as if they had secretly agreed not to come!
If it weren't for the crowd of media reporters watching the scene, Tiffany might have lost her temper and started cursing on the spot!
Patrick frowned slightly, and his lips tightened, but his emotions were still hard to read.
Debra was in shock. Although she knew Tiffany wasn't well-liked in their circle, she didn't expect it to be this bad!
"Hurry! Take pictures quickly! This is going to be a trending headline!" The reporters craned their necks, frantically taking pictures of the desolate banquet hall.
"The headline will be 'The Wellington Group Chairman's Wife's Birthday Party is a Bust.'"
"She just said she invited a lot of people; this is too funny!"
Tiffany was so angry that her legs were trembling under her luxurious dress. She glared at Debra, signaling her to speak up.
Debra quickly smiled at the reporters and said, "Dear reporters, my mother's birthday party is about to start. We need to go in and greet the guests. Please take your leave. We'll be handing out tips at the door later!"
The bodyguards started to usher the reporters out.
Some reporters, even after receiving the tips, still complained, "They made us come here in the snow, and now they're kicking us out. They're embarrassed and don't want to be seen!"
"Greeting guests? What guests? They should be greeting ghosts! Hahaha!"
The birthday party had just started, but it felt as desolate as if it were ending.
Tiffany was fuming inside; her exquisite makeup could no longer hide her stiff expression and angry face!
And guests present, being Patrick's friends, only gave her brief birthday wishes before engaging in lively conversations with Patrick, completely ignoring her!
How could this happen?
How could this be allowed to happen?
"Mom! Mom!" Debra hurriedly ran in, lifting her long dress. She was out of breath and pale with urgency. "I sent someone to check, and guess what? All the guests we invited are now gathered at the KS WORLD Hotel, all intercepted by Evelyn!"
"Evelyn, why is it always Evelyn?" Tiffany had already suspected this, but hearing it confirmed was still a huge blow, almost making her faint!
Molly, who was sitting nearby playing with a teddy bear, heard Evelyn's name and looked at them with a complicated expression.
"Tonight, Half of the people are there for the Taylor family and the other half for the Alexander family. I heard the Alexander family members are all at Joyce's birthday party! The Taylor family is on good terms with the Alexander family. With the two families joining forces, those who follow the wind would naturally go to flatter them!" Debra, surprisingly sharp at this moment, stepped closer to Tiffany and angrily said.
Devra continued, "And I also found out that some people who weren't originally on the Taylor family's guest list. They received invitations from Evelyn a day earlier and decided to go to KS WORLD instead! In the end, it's all Evelyn's doing!"
"That bitch who keeps causing me trouble! She thinks she can ruin my birthday party like this and suppress me?" Tiffany cursed angrily, her features gradually contorting.
"Mom, don't call Evelyn a bitch. Evelyn is not a bitch!" Molly, unable to bear it any longer, mustered the courage to retort with a flushed face.
Tiffany glared at her furiously, "Shut up!"
"Molly! Do you know what you're saying?" Debra, seizing the moment while Tiffany was angry, rushed to Molly, sharply poking Molly's tender cheek with her pointed nail, causing Molly to gasp in pain and shrink back.
A noticeable red mark immediately appeared on Molly's cheek.
"Because of that bitch Evelyn's mischief, Mommy has suffered such a huge grievance and is about to explode with anger! As Mommy's daughter, not only are you not helping, but you're also defending that bitch Evelyn! Mommy has raised you for nothing!" Debra scolded.
"Evelyn is not a bitch!" Molly was angrier since Debra's words, her eyes reddening as she retorted.
"If she's not, who is? She is!" Debra shouted back, drawing the attention of some guests.
"She's not!" Molly, as if a button of anger had been pressed, stood up and glared at Debra with her round, tear-filled eyes!
Molly could endure Debra hitting and scolding her, but she couldn't endure her insulting her beloved Evelyn!
"You ungrateful little brat, how dare you shout at me! Do you think I'm afraid of you just because Eric supports you?" Debra, having her authority challenged all night by the little fool she had always trampled on, could no longer bear it. She raised her hand, ready to pinch Molly's arm hard.
At this moment, the long-quiet doors of the banquet hall opened!
Everyone's eyes turned to the entrance, where Eric walked in with steady, graceful steps.
"Eric," Molly looked at Eric, her eyes gradually filling with joyful tears.
At this moment, Eric's eyes, as sharp and bright as a hawk's, were also intensely and deeply locked onto hers. He stared without wavering, unwilling to look away.
Despite her plain and unremarkable dress, her habit of keeping her head down and shoulders hunched, making her almost invisible, he could still find her instantly.
"Mr. Clark?" Tiffany and Debra were dumbfounded.
Patrick, who was chatting with guests, also showed a look of surprise when he saw Eric. He dressed in a burgundy velvet bespoke suit, walking in with an imposing presence.
Debra quickly withdrew her hand, which was about to strike. Her feelings towards Eric were a mix of emotions!
Even though Eric had treated her harshly, she still became infatuated whenever she saw him. She also knew that Eric had no interest in her.
So, why did he come?
"Mr. Clark, I'm so glad you could come. We've been waiting for you!" Tiffany, secretly delighted to see Eric, hurriedly approached him. "Quick! Bring Mr. Clark some champagne!"
As long as he was willing to come, even if it was for Molly, it would still add some prestige to her birthday party.
"No need. I didn't come to attend the birthday party." Eric, with his hands in his pockets and a faint smile, exuded irresistible charm.
"Then, why are you here?"
"I'm here to take my girl away," Eric said, his words were firm and filled with deep affection.
Everyone was puzzled.
Under everyone's gaze, Eric's lips curved into a smile as he walked unhesitatingly towards Molly.
Tiffany and Debra's expressions were indescribably shocked and embarrassed!
Molly stood there nervously, watching Eric walk towards her with unwavering determination. Her teddy bear in her hands felt like a pure bouquet.
Eric walked straight ahead, and as he passed Debra, he coldly brushed her aside, annoyed that she was in the way.
Debra felt a sharp pain in her shoulder and staggered back a couple of steps, almost falling to the ground!
"Molly," Eric stood in front of Molly, gazing deeply into her eyes, his voice low and magnetic, "You look beautiful today."
Molly's heart was pounding.
"This place is so boring. Why don't you come with me?" Eric's eyes were soft as he extended his hand to her.
"Where to?" Molly asked.
"Anywhere. Wherever you want to go, I'll take you," His eyes were more sincere than ever.
For some reason, Molly felt like crying, her eyes turning red.
All her life, she had been the most foolish and obedient child in the family.
She had never experienced what it felt like to be pampered and indulged. This was her first time.
"I want to find Evelyn and Edward," Molly choked up, speaking softly.
"Alright, I'll take you to them," With that, Eric gently took her soft hand and turned to leave.
The entire room fell silent.
As they reached the door, Eric stopped, causing Molly to almost bump into him.
He turned slightly and gave a small bow in Patrick's direction before leaving with Molly.
Patrick was momentarily stunned.
Eric had openly taken his youngest daughter Molly away. Initially, he was somewhat displeased. But Eric hadn't forgotten to greet him before leaving, showing proper manners.
It made it impossible to hold a grudge!
"Mom! What do we do?" Debra's face twitched as she grabbed Tiffany's arm in a panic. "Eric just took Molly away? What is this? Isn't he deliberately causing trouble? You can't let Molly go! You have to bring her back!"
"Bring her back? Why should I bring her back?" Tiffany forcefully shook off her hand, looking at her with a hint of disdain usually reserved for Molly. "My birthday party is already ruined. What difference does it make if Molly comes back or not?"
Tiffany added, "Besides, why should I bring her back? Can't you see? Molly and Eric are getting along well now. Didn't you see the way he looked at Molly? It was even more intense than the way your father used to look at me. You should stop being delusional and ruining Molly's good fortune. Just stay put!"
Debra's heart sank to the bottom, letting go of Tiffany's hand in frustration.
"Evelyn, do you think this means I've lost? You ruined my birthday party, but I won't let you have your way tonight!" Tiffany picked up a champagne glass, her eyes red as she downed the drink.
Outside the banquet hall.
Debra walked to a secluded spot, took out her phone, dialing Jessica's number with gritted teeth.
"How dare you call me?" After several rings, Jessica finally answered, her tone undisguisedly annoyed.
Debra, despite hating Jessica for her past schemes, knew that the enemy of her enemy was her friend. To deal with Molly, she needed Jessica's help.
So she steadied her emotions, saying coldly, "I'm not in the mood to argue with you right now. I think you'll also lose the mood to fight with me once you hear what happened tonight."
