Chapter 410 Ambushed

Evelyn and William were waiting in a park, with no one else around.

Given her current status, being in a crowded place would draw too much attention and cause trouble for Kimberly, who was acting as a lookout.

William kept checking his watch, feeling a bit anxious as he waited. "Why isn't she here yet? Could something have happened?"

Evelyn frowned slightly, also very worried.

"Evelyn, Kimberly suddenly asked to meet you. Does she have some important information about Tiffany?"

"We'll know everything once Kimberly gets here."

Before long, hurried footsteps approached from a distance.

"Ms. Taylor, Ms. Taylor! We need to go!"

Kimberly ran up to them in a panic, drenched in sweat and pale-faced. "I was followed! They're already here! Ms. Taylor, run!"

Evelyn quickly supported the terrified and nearly paralyzed Kimberly, her gaze intense and her tone steady. "Don't be afraid. I'm here. I won't let anyone hurt you!"

Before she finished speaking, a series of ominous footsteps reached them.

William's instincts screamed danger. He stepped in front of Evelyn and Kimberly, fists clenched, muscles tensed under his suit.

Kimberly was petrified, but Evelyn remained calm, her sharp eyes fixed on the three men in black in front of them, holding Kimberly even tighter.

The leader was Lloyd.

Evelyn quickly assessed Lloyd and realized he would be extremely difficult to deal with.

"Who are you?" William asked coldly, his teeth clenched.

Lloyd tilted his head, looking past William at Evelyn. His voice was indifferent. "So, you're Ms. Taylor?"

"I am Evelyn," she replied, her face icy.

"Indeed, a beauty with a reputation."

Lloyd grinned, his smile more unsettling than a frown. "What a pity."

Evelyn's anger surged.

How arrogant!

"Are you one of Tiffany's people? Did she send you to kill me?" Evelyn asked, her expression fearless.

"Ms. Taylor, you come from a wealthy family. You could have lived comfortably, but you chose to meddle in things you shouldn't. Adults must face the consequences of their actions. It's only natural."

"Natural, indeed!" Evelyn laughed fearlessly, her voice clear and bright. "Then let me tell you, if you have the guts, try to harm me. You'd better kill me, because if you don't, I will make sure you and the sneaky people behind you die a miserable death!"

Lloyd laughed again.

Many had said such bold words to him before, but they all ended up dead.

"Evelyn, I'll hold them off. You take Kimberly and go!" William urged, his fists clenched, veins bulging.

"Kimberly, go."

Evelyn pushed Kimberly away and turned to William with determination. "I'll stay and help you. You can't handle them alone!"

"Evelyn." William looked deeply into her eyes, his heart swelling with emotion.

In this life, Evelyn was his most important partner.

He would have a wife and children in the future, but Evelyn held a unique place in his heart that no one could replace.

Once, he loved her.

Now, he was unwaveringly loyal to her.

Kimberly didn't want to be a coward, but she knew she would only be a burden.

With tears in her eyes, she nodded firmly to Evelyn and turned to escape, only to find two more people blocking her path.

Evelyn and the others were surrounded, the air thick with murderous intent.

This time, it seemed truly dangerous.

"Make it quick," Lloyd said, his eyes never leaving Evelyn's pale face. "Ms. Taylor, I'll handle her personally. It's the least respect I can show."

A sleek black car skidded to a stop on the empty road.

Edward got out, looking towards the dark park, his brow furrowed with worry.

He walked quickly inside, the cold wind biting his cheeks, the eerie silence filling him with a sense of foreboding.

Perhaps it was because he held Evelyn so dearly, or because they had faced life and death together more than once.

Somehow, they always seemed to be in sync.

At that moment, his phone vibrated with a call from an unknown number.

He remembered giving Kimberly his private number through Bart for emergencies.

This phone never received calls from unknown numbers.

It had to be Kimberly!

Edward's sense of dread intensified as he answered the call.

"Mr. Wellington! Save Ms. Taylor, save Ms. Taylor! We..."

A scream cut off the call.

Edward's breath caught, staring at the dark screen, his heart pounding against his ribs.

Sweat drenched his forehead as he ran forward, calling Bart.

"Evelyn is in trouble. Send backup immediately!"

In the dim light, the sounds of fierce fighting echoed.

William fought desperately against the attackers, the whoosh of fists and feet slicing through the air.

Despite his agility, he was outnumbered and outmatched, especially since the attackers had knives. After dozens of rounds, he was overpowered.

William's left arm and right leg were slashed, blood pouring from deep wounds. His once pristine suit was torn and bloodied, his white shirt stained red.

But he kept fighting, determined to protect Evelyn, his strong will numbing the pain.

"Such a nuisance."

Lloyd lost patience with William, driving a knife deep into his left shoulder and twisting it cruelly.

William gripped Lloyd's hand, the excruciating pain making him groan.

He felt his bones and flesh being shredded, fearing his arm was ruined.

"Killing one more is just more trouble." Lloyd whispered in his ear, "Otherwise, this knife would be in your gut, shredding your intestines."

With a swift kick, Lloyd sent William flying, crashing to the ground.

"William!"

Evelyn's eyes blazed with fury as she snapped a thug's arm.

"Evelyn." William lay in a pool of blood, his eyes filled with tears of guilt.

He wasn't afraid of dying.

He was afraid of who would protect her if he fell.

Evelyn's rage burned, and she grabbed a knife, stabbing it into the thug with brutal force.

Lloyd watched with amusement.

Evelyn was different from other wealthy daughters. She was brave and smart, and surprisingly strong.

If she hadn't been so determined to go after Tiffany, he wouldn't have wanted to kill such an extraordinary woman.

What a pity.

Evelyn dispatched a thug and rushed to William.

But she felt a chilling presence behind her.

"Evelyn! Watch out!" William used his last bit of strength to warn her, his heart stopping in terror.

Behind Evelyn, a knife gleamed menacingly, raised high.
