Chapter 397 Landon is Furious!

"Mr. Taylor, if you have something to say, you can say it now," Edward said, looking at him with an expressionless face.

Landon was already furious, and seeing Edward's indifferent and detached demeanor only fueled his anger to the extreme.

Little did he know, Edward was still recovering from an illness. Forcing himself to attend the meeting at the Wellington Group had drained almost all his energy. He was barely holding on with the help of medication.

At this moment, his back was drenched in cold sweat.

"Edward, you touched Evelyn," Landon said coldly, his voice filled with icy menace.

Hearing this, William was struck as if by lightning, his eyes instantly turning bloodshot!

William thought, 'Touched? What does that mean? Did Edward really have a sexual relationship with Evelyn? How could he? How dare he?'

William felt an unprecedented heartache, as if a giant hand was choking his throat, making it hard to breathe.

Edward's breath hitched, and his fingers slowly clenched on the table, his eyes burning red. "I will take responsibility for her. As long as she is willing, she will still be my wife."

Then, he suddenly seemed to change, laughing bitterly and somewhat manically. "But I think she wouldn't want to repeat the same mistake."

Landon's lips curled into a cold smile, his expression as sharp as a knife, his face grim.

"Edward! Do you understand what divorce means?" William couldn't hold back his anger any longer and roared, "Divorce means you are no longer husband and wife. You have no right to touch Evelyn! How could you touch her? How could you?"

"What's done is done. At this point, I have nothing more to say."

Edward's heart trembled as he recalled that night, his eyes reddening.

He had pressed Evelyn's body beneath his, entwining with her through the night, their passion burning, wanting to explore her deeper and deeper, to reach the depths of her soul.

He never wanted to leave her again.

He wanted to become one with her, inseparable.

Suddenly, Landon moved swiftly, effortlessly jumping onto the large conference table.

In a few steps, he was in front of Edward, looking down at his pale face with cold disdain.

"Edward, you deserve to die."

The next second, Landon lunged forward, knocking Edward off his chair!

The two of them fell heavily to the ground, and William exclaimed in shock, "Mr. Taylor! Be careful!"

Edward's back took a heavy hit, his internal organs shaking.

Suddenly, a cold glint flashed before his eyes!

Landon's gaze was fierce, and he raised a sharp crucifix dagger high, aiming it at Edward's eyes, as if to deliver a cruel judgment.

"Mr. Taylor! No!" William shouted in panic.

He could fully understand Landon's feelings, even though he also hated Edward for hurting Evelyn so deeply.

But if Landon killed Edward, it would not only drag him into endless trouble, but Evelyn would also be deeply tormented by guilt!

This was not what Evelyn wanted to see.

Landon shouldn't dirty his hands because of Edward.

Seeing the dagger about to pierce his eye, Edward showed no fear, only a bleak and bitter numbness.

"Landon! Stop!"

At the critical moment, Eric arrived just in time, lunging forward to tackle Landon, using all his strength to pin him to the ground.

The sharp dagger changed direction.

Edward felt a cold chill on his neck, followed by a sharp pain.

The dagger had left a thin, long cut on his neck, blood seeping out, shocking to see.

Lying on the ground, Edward reached up to touch his neck, feeling the sticky wetness in his palm, but it oddly made him feel a bit relieved.

If Eric had been a second later, the blade would have pierced Edward's eye.

Landon never acted impulsively, and when he did, he made sure the other person would remember and hate him for a lifetime.

Landon's bloodshot eyes glared, the dagger's tip pressing against Eric's shoulder and neck. "Move aside, don't meddle."

"I will meddle in this!"

Eric panted, gritting his teeth as he pointed to his chest. "If you have the guts, kill me, stab me here!"

"Edward and Evelyn's situation is my doing! I orchestrated it all, it's all my fault! Don't hurt Edward, if you want to vent your anger, come at me!"

"But have you considered Evelyn's feelings? Does she want to see this? Does she want you to have blood on your hands?"

Evelyn's name was like a sedative for Landon.

His murderous eyes gradually cooled.

Seeing Landon withdraw the dagger, Eric secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Who knew how nervous he was just now, his heart was about to leap out of his chest.

"Mr. Taylor!" William hurried over to help him up.

Eric also went to help Edward, his hands still trembling, his heart still pounding.

He thought he was already tough enough. Who would have thought Landon would dare to commit violence in broad daylight in a conference room? Landon was truly insane!

Landon wanted to say something more, but seeing how things had developed, he didn't want to say anything else to Edward.

Landon thought, 'Edward doesn't deserve Evelyn's love, nor did he deserve to dirty my own hands. He's only fit to live out his days in loneliness, to perish on his own!'

"Don't bother Evelyn again, this is your last warning." Landon put the crucifix back into his suit, his eyes red as if weeping blood. "William, let's go."

As they turned to leave, Edward's hoarse voice called out.

"As long as she is willing, I will marry her."

Landon laughed disdainfully without turning back, "You have no right. Even if every man in the world died, Evelyn would never marry you."
