Chapter 373 Never Failed

The room was quiet, filled with an indescribable subtle atmosphere.

"Although the injury isn't serious, try to keep it dry." Landon put away the medicine and said gently, "I've never seen a man's skin as delicate as yours, like Evelyn's. I hope it remains perfect, so it's best not to leave a scar."

"Landon." Adrian raised an eyebrow mischievously and suddenly leaned closer to him, "What are you trying to do?"

Landon looked up at the same time, and Adrian's bright, clear eyes instantly pierced his soul.

They were so close that he felt his eyebrows could almost brush against Adrian's nose.

Landon's heartstrings trembled as he deeply locked eyes with him, "What do you want to say?"

"Are you here to please me on Evelyn's orders, or do you genuinely care about the injury on my foot?" Adrian's voice wasn't as feminine as his face suggested, but it still carried a captivating allure.

"You are both a guest invited by Evelyn and Aunt Donna's nephew. It's only right for me to do this." Landon lowered his eyelids again.

"You really are a big CEO, speaking without giving anything away." Adrian clearly didn't like this answer, turned over, and stopped looking at him, "Take care, I'm not seeing you out. Also, I'm booking a flight now and taking the earliest one back."

"Are you still angry?" Landon squinted slightly and sat down beside him.

"What do you think?"

"What would it take for you to calm down?"

"Have Ulysses come over and apologize to me, and I'll consider it!"

Adrian thought about being knocked out and brought here in a sack from abroad, and it was utterly humiliating!

"Try another request."

"This one!"

"Even if I go and tell him, he won't do it. Besides, he might have already left. I don't know where he went."

Landon still smiled at him, "Try another request, anything else."

Adrian's mind shifted, and he suddenly smirked, "Landon, you can't just say 'anything else.' If you can't deliver, it's quite embarrassing."

"Just say it first, whether I can do it is my concern." Landon answered seriously.

"If I ask you to stay with me tonight, would you?"

"How?" Landon suddenly took the initiative, approaching him and slowly pulling down the Windsor knot on his collar.

Adrian's Adam's apple bobbed, his eyes fixed, and his mind wandered.

Usually, he would have devoured the opportunity without hesitation.

But this time, he felt his aura was completely suppressed by Landon.

"Landon? Are you in there? Is Mr. Mays awake? I've prepared lunch." Evelyn's sweet voice came from outside.

"Okay." Landon responded, stood up gracefully, and looked down at him, "You must be starving. Evelyn's cooking is excellent. Not many people get to taste her dishes. Would you like to try?"

Adrian wanted to refuse, but his stomach growled loudly.

Forget it! He steeled himself.

He couldn't leave now anyway, so he might as well fill his stomach first!

Adrian was invited by Evelyn to the dining room for a meal.

Landon returned to his room alone and locked the door.

He went to the study, sat at the desk, and the smile on his face gradually froze.

He leaned back, yanked off his tie, and unbuttoned a few buttons on his collar, finally feeling a bit more at ease.

A silver cross slipped out from his shirt, glinting with a cold light.

Landon slowly closed his eyes, taking deep breaths to calm his restless heart.

At this moment, the face that appeared in his mind wasn't Adrian's androgynous beauty, but another man's.

A man he thought he had forgotten but couldn't stop thinking about—his old love.

Landon turned towards the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf and pulled out two books.

The bookshelf made a sound and revealed a hidden compartment.

It was a sophisticated safe.

He entered the man's birthday and his own, and the safe opened.

Inside were a few framed photos, a sealed document, and a black velvet jewelry box.

Landon took out the jewelry box and opened it, revealing a pair of diamond rings, clearly a couple's set.

He picked up one ring and slipped it onto his left ring finger, then took out the old photos.

In the photos, a sunny, handsome man was hugging him from behind, their intimate pose and sweet smiles clearly showing their relationship.

They were lovers.

The man had eyes very similar to Adrian's, long and affectionate.

When he saw those eyes for the first time last night, he couldn't help but fall into them, all the buried sweet and painful memories resurfacing vividly.

Landon's breath hitched, his eyes reddened as he turned the photo over, revealing a line of neat handwriting:

[Landon, I hope one day the world can forgive us.]

"But you didn't wait for that day; you left me." He closed his eyes and kissed the person in the photo.

Death isn't really scary.

What's scary is that every day after is filled with memories and longing.

Evelyn personally cooked a table full of delicious dishes for Adrian.

Although she hadn't cooked in a long time, her skills were still impeccable, even the family chef wanted to learn a few tricks from her.

Looking at the exquisite dishes, Adrian's stomach growled, and he swallowed his saliva.

"It's just ordinary food, Mr. Mays, don't be picky." Evelyn propped her chin and smiled at Adrian.

But Adrian had a temper and wouldn't easily bow for a meal.

He took a deep breath and looked coldly at Evelyn, "Ms. Taylor, although you are my aunt's beloved child, your favor doesn't extend to me.

"I made it very clear on the phone before, I don't treat tycoons. Edward, as the president of the Wellington Group, has plenty of doctors willing to curry favor with the Wellington family. They will do everything they can to treat him. They don't need me.

"I have principles. If I say no, it's no. No one can persuade me. You shouldn't waste your effort."

Landon didn't do a good job of keeping him company.

Evelyn calmly met his gaze, unhurried.

She knew men could never escape two themes—face and competitiveness.

So she took a sip of water and said lightly, "I know, as a highly skilled doctor, you are very confident in your medical skills. And in all your years of practice, you have never failed, not a single unsuccessful surgery. Any patient you take on, you have a hundred percent confidence in their recovery.

"Because you wouldn't take on a patient without that confidence, right?"
