Chapter 454 Edward Chases the Criminal

The next day, Edward and Eric set off with their elite troops, secretly heading to South Island.

The journey was not smooth. Initially, the weather was clear and sunny, but two hours into the voyage, dark clouds gathered, and a storm hit!

For the sake of concealment and safety, they did not take a large ship but switched to a yacht.

This way, they were less of a target, could move quickly, and if discovered by the enemy, they could scatter and retreat swiftly, avoiding a complete encirclement.

However, the disadvantages of such a vessel were fully exposed in extreme weather!

"Mr. Wellington! Mr. Clark! What should we do? Is the boat going to capsize?"

Eric's subordinate was steering with all his might, but the yacht was still wildly swaying in the storm, unable to maintain balance, let alone advance towards their destination!

Suddenly, a huge wave crashed towards their boat, heading straight for Eric.

Eric's eyes widened in panic, and before he could react, everything went dark!

Edward arrived just in time, his tall and sturdy figure shielding Eric like a wall of steel!

The wave hit Edward, and the strong impact only made him sway slightly. Anyone else would have been knocked down.

Edward was sometimes so strong that even men found him admirable!

"Edward! Are you okay?" Eric immediately supported him, his pupils contracting tightly.

"I'm fine, it's nothing." Edward's thin lips curved slightly, his starry eyes shining like deep-sea pearls.

Their eyes met, and Eric stared at him for a few seconds before suddenly blushing, "Can you stop looking at me like that? I feel like I'm falling for you!"

"Thank Molly. If you hadn't fallen for her, I would have suspected you'd fall for me one day."

With that, Edward quickly left, took the wheel from his subordinate, and began steering himself.

Eric cursed, wiped the seawater from his face, and looked at Edward's reassuring back.

After a while, he sighed self-deprecatingly, feeling more admiration for Edward.

Back then, he had foolishly pursued Evelyn. When Evelyn rejected him, he was stupidly depressed for a long time.

Now, it seemed that Evelyn was right to reject him.

However, he didn't feel lost or regretful.

On the contrary, he was grateful for that unrequited love. Otherwise, how would he have met Molly, the love of his life, the woman he was determined to spend his life with?

The waves roared, and the water surged.

But under Edward's steering, the boat seemed to be infused with a soul, heading towards the South Island without any danger.

Two hours later, their boat was the first to dock, and half an hour later, the other boats arrived one after another.

By this time, night had fallen, but fortunately, the storm had gradually subsided.

"The night is perfect for action. Let's go, Edward!" Eric tucked two guns into his waistband, his eyes shining with excitement!

Edward, dressed in black pants and boots, his hand gripping the gun with bulging veins, exuded a sense of power and a hint of untamed wildness.

"You're not the same as before. You have Molly now; you're not without attachments."

Mentioning Molly made Eric's heart tighten, and he pressed his lips together.

Yes, he had a family now; he had attachments.

Molly almost broke down when Kimberly passed away. If something happened to him, what would his fragile and pitiful Molly do?

"Mr. Wellington, Mr. Clark! Look! There's a helicopter coming!"

They looked in the direction of the voice and saw a helicopter rapidly approaching them!

Everyone immediately went on high alert, nervously drawing their guns and aiming at the helicopter!

"No need to be nervous, it's probably not the enemy."

Only Edward remained calm, as steady as a mountain.

"How can you be sure?" Eric asked in surprise.

"If it were the enemy, they would have already opened fire on us at this distance. The fact that they haven't made a move means their purpose isn't to kill us."

Eric nodded, "Makes sense!"

The helicopter landed steadily on the beach, the wind whipping up white sand that blinded everyone.

Only Edward stood tall against the wind, his eyes sharp as he watched the handsome man step out of the helicopter.

The next second, his eyes widened in shock!

"Landon!"

Eric saw Landon leading the KnightSpear Group towards them and hid behind Edward in fear!

At this moment, Edward and Landon locked eyes, and the tension was palpable!

"Mr. Taylor, why are you here?" Edward's starry eyes were sharp, his voice cold and deep.

"We have the same goal. Is there any need to ask?"

Landon had no good expression for Edward, even though he had gradually come to understand Edward's genuine feelings for Evelyn and knew he was truly remorseful and determined to marry Evelyn.

But the Taylor family seemed to have a stubborn streak. Even if they thought this way, they wouldn't show it on the surface.

Moreover, Edward had once cruelly abandoned Evelyn.

Evelyn had almost become disabled on the battlefield because of him.

He would never easily change his attitude towards him. Evelyn was like a star in the sky; if he wanted her, he had to risk his life to get her.

"Lloyd, I'll handle it. You don't need to worry." Edward frowned.

"I'm Evelyn's brother. Ultimately, this is a Taylor family matter. With me here, you don't need to step in." Landon was equally unyielding.

"Eric, let's go."

Edward didn't waste any more words and was about to leave with his men.

"If I remember correctly, didn't Mr. Wellington tell Evelyn he was going on a business trip to Yatuok?"

Landon's cold voice was like a thorn in Edward's back!

He turned sharply, but Landon just smiled at him, "If Evelyn finds out you lied to her, even if you did it for her, do you think she would be angry? She would probably be very angry."

"Don't tell her!" Edward panicked, rushing to Landon with a pleading tone, "Mr. Taylor, everything I'm doing is for Evelyn. But I'm afraid if she knows I'm here to capture Lloyd, she might come in a moment of desperation."

"I can't let the woman I love take any risks, not even a little!"

"But if I don't personally resolve this for Evelyn, what kind of man am I? What right do I have to protect her?"

These words were deeply emotional, moving everyone who heard them.

Landon's handsome brows tightened slightly.

"Mr. Taylor, I know you still hate me, hate that I once hurt Evelyn, hate that I cruelly abandoned her."

Edward's eyes reddened, his voice hoarse, almost begging, "Everything I'm doing is to make amends. I'm willing to risk my life to win back everything she wants, even if none of you forgive me."

"Just don't let Evelyn take any risks. You know her temperament better than I do!"

He was truly afraid of Evelyn's anger. Their relationship had just started to improve, and he didn't want everything to go back to square one.

But what he feared more was her getting hurt.

Landon had only intended to test him, but he didn't expect such heartfelt words.

After a moment of contemplation, he said seriously, "Alright, you can act, but you have to do it with me."
