Chapter 291 Absolutely Opposed to Them Being Together!

Evelyn didn't say goodbye to Edward when she left the hospital.

Although Edward had left her with an unfinished story, she was always proud and never willing to bow her head.

No matter how much she wanted to know what had happened to Edward, she would rather investigate herself than ask him directly.

On her way back to the villa, Evelyn received a call from William.

"Evelyn, I started investigating from Edward's side but didn't find much. However, I did find something from Caleb's side," William's voice sounded.

"Edward is now the CEO of the Wellington Group, so his information is naturally top-secret. Not just anyone can access it. William, you've gotten smarter," Evelyn praised with a smile.

William smiled contentedly and then said seriously, "Caleb was involved in a kidnapping case when he was eleven."

Evelyn's eyes darkened, "A kidnapping case?"

"Yes, but there's no news about it on any national online platforms. It seems the Wellington family sealed off the information back then. Without checking the police records, it would be hard to know the details of the kidnapping.

Evelyn, if you really want to know the truth, I can ask my father. He was a judge in Mugden at the time, so he couldn't possibly be unaware of such a major case."

"No need, William. You've done well enough. You don't need to look into it any further."

Evelyn hung up the phone, falling into deep thought.

She knew that William was currently in a strained relationship with his family, so she couldn't trouble the Flynn family with her matters at this time.

But now that she had a direction, she knew what to do next.

As soon as the Bugatti's La Voiture Noire stopped in front of the villa, the headlights of Evelyn's sports car illuminated Edward's tall and handsome figure.

She looked closely, and her heart skipped a beat.

Edward?

With his shining eyes, Edward turned his face towards the bright headlights, and stood even straighter, showing a gentle smile to Evelyn inside the car.

Evelyn lightly pressed her red lips, feeling a complex emotion rise within her.

She had to admit, Edward's smile was truly captivating.

It was the smile she had once fantasized about, dreamed about, and longed for but never obtained.

For the past three years, she had stayed by Edward's side, giving him gifts and learning to cook just to see him smile, but they were all in vain.

Now, he was willing to smile at her and even said he liked her.

But she only felt empty inside. Could this belated love really fill a heart that had been hollowed out?

Evelyn took a deep breath, got out of the car, walking towards him with a blank expression.

"Evelyn," Edward called her.

"What do you want?" Evelyn glanced at him, her sharp tongue never showing him any gentleness.

"You left the hospital so quickly that I didn't even get a chance to say a few words to you," Edward said gently, ignoring Evelyn's coldness.

"If it weren't for Molly, I wouldn't have met you. There's nothing more to say," Without hesitation, Evelyn turned and walked towards the villa. "I'll have someone deliver the second course of medication to you in the next few days. If you want to live a few more years, you must take the medication on time."

"Evelyn, wait!" Edward, full of anxiety, reached out to stop her.

Evelyn paused and turned back, "By the way, there's something I need you to tell Eric. I know he likes Molly. But I don't agree with them being together."

Edward frowned.

"I know I'm just an outsider now. I have no right to interfere in her affairs. But I'm sorry, I will intervene in Molly's matters," Evelyn's eyes flashed with anger, her voice cold, "Looking at the entire Wellington family, the only person who can manage Molly is Grandpa Byron. But we both know his health condition. I hope he lives a long life, but he's not so young and can't handle too much.

Molly's parents, in my opinion, are as good as nonexistent. And you, as her brother, have proven to be useless. How many times have you been the first to appear by Molly's side when something happened? You can't protect her, even you don't care about her as your half-sister."

Edward felt like he was being stabbed in the heart repeatedly, his eyes reddening with pain as he slowly clenched his fists.

"So I will take care of Molly. From now on, Molly is my sister," Evelyn's attitude was cold and resolute, "I absolutely will not agree to Molly and Eric getting too close. And I will never agree to Eric pursuing Molly!"

"Why not?" Edward took a step forward, his eyes burning as he stared directly into hers.

Evelyn mistook his intense gaze for opposition and provocation, curling her lips coldly, "Why not? Edward, do you even have a heart?

Or do you think Molly isn't your real sister, so you're willing to push Tiffany's daughter into the living hell just to satisfy your good friend's selfish desires?"

Edward was finally provoked by her, his thin lips turning pale and trembling.

He wasn't truly angry with her; he understood her kindness and her desire to protect Molly completely. However, he didn't want her to misunderstand him, nor did he want her to look down on his only and best friend, Eric!

"Eric genuinely cares for Molly. Evelyn, you saw it today too; Molly relies on Eric and wants to be with him."

"Is reliance the same as love? Moreover, Molly has autism. She has barely attended school and has hardly been exposed to society. How could she understand romantic feelings?" Evelyn was also getting anxious, her voice filled with righteous indignation echoing through the dark night.

"Eric will truly be good to Molly, Evelyn. Can you give them a chance?" Edward didn't dare to speak harshly to her, his tone almost pleading.

"First of all, Eric's history of flings is extensive. Molly is not suitable for Eric; she's not the woman who can make him settle down. I can't gamble Molly's youth on an uncertain future.

Secondly, do you really think the Clark family is suitable for Molly?" Evelyn asked seriously.

Edward was taken aback.

Regarding Eric's family, both Edward and Eric rarely discussed it. It was a topic Eric avoided and kept secret.

Edward knew that family matters would touch on Eric's painful memories, so although he wanted to be considerate, he rarely asked about it.

"Mrs. Clark is a very traditional person. Her husband died in an accident early on, and Eric is her only son. She has pinned almost all her hopes on him. She didn't even approve of Debra, so how could she possibly approve of Molly?

Eric has always respected and adored Mrs. Clark. Do you think he would go against his mother for Molly? And then there's Jessica, a scheming, self-righteous woman. She has always treated Debra like a doormat, manipulating things from behind the scenes. She fundamentally looks down on Tiffany's daughter. Do you think she would be good to Molly?

If Molly really marries Eric, there will be endless conflicts and suffering ahead. Do you think Molly can be happy? Even if Eric truly loves her, that love will eventually be worn down by these constant intrigues! Moreover, Molly is so pure and innocent. How could she possibly fight against them?"

As Evelyn spoke, her eyes began to well up with tears.

Her red-rimmed eyes, paired with her stunningly beautiful face, made her look breathtakingly gorgeous.

Edward stared at Evelyn, his heart gradually warming and softening. At the same time, he felt immense guilt, regret, and remorse.

Wasn't she also using Molly's situation to express the hardships and grievances she endured during the three years of their marriage?

There was no real letting go; it was just bitter tears and broken teeth swallowed down into her stomach.

Evelyn had nothing more to say to Edward.

She had said everything she needed to say. If he still insisted on his way, she would have to use her own iron will to solve the problem, protecting those around her!

Just as Evelyn turned to leave decisively, Edward could no longer restrain his intense emotions. He pulled her cold, delicate body tightly into his arms from behind.

"You," Evelyn momentarily forgot to breathe, her heart racing.

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I didn't think it through. If you don't like it, I won't bring it up again, never again," Edward's left arm wrapped around her slender waist, his right arm around her collarbone, his large hand gripping her thin, rounded shoulder. It felt as if all his strength was concentrated in his arms, holding Evelyn tighter and tighter.

He wished he could merge her into his own body, blending with his burning blood.

Evelyn's entire body tensed up, the man's low, magnetic voice flowing into her ears, captivating her.

"Let go, Edward," She was rejecting him, but her voice was soft, making the rejection ineffective.

"No," Edward rested his chin in the crook of her neck, rubbing gently, "Evelyn, I've never been a greedy person, but with you, I can never get enough.

I can never hold you enough, and never kiss you enough."

He was a man of few words, not good at expressing himself, so even his sweet words were brief and to the point.

Yet they caused ripples in Evelyn's heart.

"Evelyn."

"Evelyn," A soft yet chilling voice rang out from behind them.
