Chapter 292 Gilbert's Unreasonable Request

The voice was very familiar.

It was like a sharp blade, piercing straight through Edward's chest!

Evelyn's wandering thoughts snapped back, and she instantly alerted, feeling her heart tightened.

As if caught doing something wrong, she used all her strength to break free from Edward's grip, then turned around and gave him a hard push.

Edward's heart sank sharply as he staggered back half a step.

Infinetely desolate, there was only the biting cold air in his arms.

"Gilbert, what are you doing here?" Evelyn forced herself to calm her erratic breathing but couldn't hide the panic in her eyes.

Gilbert's body, hidden under a gray suit, was filled with extreme hatred, trembling almost imperceptibly in the darkness.

His slender fingers lightly pushed his gold-rimmed glasses, and his gaze at Edward was filled with murderous intent.

Though it was fleeting, Edward still noticed it. His starry eyes narrowed slightly, and a bloodthirsty, beast-like intimidation burned in his dark pupils, making it hard to look directly at him.

In terms of aura and oppressive presence, Edward had never been at a disadvantage, especially not in front of Evelyn.

Evelyn noticed Edward's fierce gaze at this moment. She felt he was about to devour Gilbert alive!

"Are you okay, Evelyn?" Gilbert hurried to Evelyn's side, his eyes filled with concern, and asked in a low voice, "Are you alright? Do you need help?"

"No, I'm fine," Evelyn's forehead was covered in fine sweat, and she gave him a gentle smile.

Edward was so jealous that his eyebrows knitted together, and his eyes seemed to be set ablaze with jealousy!

She hadn't smiled at him like that in a long time, while she easily gave that smile to Gilbert.

"You don't look fine."

Although Gilbert didn't reach out to hug Evelyn, he stood beside her, exuding a strong sense of protection and possessiveness.

Then he casually glanced at Edward, "Do you want me to kick him out?"

That natural attitude was like a declaration of sovereignty!

Edward's eyes were bloodshot, and he clenched his fists tightly.

If Evelyn weren't present, he would have thrown a punch long ago!

"No need, he can walk on his own," Evelyn replied indifferently, not sparing Edward another glance.

"Then, Evelyn, can you come with me?"

Evelyn was puzzled.

Edward could no longer contain his anger. He gritted his teeth and asked in an icy cold voice, "Gilbert, do you know what you're saying?"

"I know, but I'm afraid some people don't know what they're doing," Gilbert stepped in front of Evelyn, sneering, "Can't you see that Evelyn hates you? You two are no longer married. If you continue to act so frivolously, I can call the police and have you arrested, Edward."

"Enough," Evelyn didn't want to cause any more trouble. She lowered her long lashes, saying indifferently to Edward, "You should go."

"Evelyn!" Edward shouted.

"I told you to go!" Evelyn finally became angry and embarrassed, "I really don't want to see you, Edward."

Edward felt as if struck by lightning, his handsome face turning pale.

His sharp jawline tightened, and a rush of bad blood surged to his chest, almost making him cough.

Gilbert's lips curled up darkly.

"Gilbert, what are you doing here?" Evelyn finally reacted and asked curiously.

"I moved to another villa not far from yours," Gilbert's gaze was deep and affectionate as he looked at her.

"What?" Evelyn was stunned.

Edward, whose heart tightened, felt a strong sense of crisis!

"I said, we're neighbors now, Evelyn."

With that, Gilbert tilted his head slightly, smiling gently and boyishly at her, extending his right hand, "Hello, new neighbor."

Evelyn was a bit surprised but maintained her composure, politely shaking his hand.

Just like that, without mercy and with decisive action, she shut out Edward, her ex-husband, the man who was once supposed to be the closest to her.

"Evelyn, would you like to visit my new home?" Gilbert, like Evelyn, was a complete opportunist, so he took the chance to invite her, "I bought a lot of fresh ingredients, salmon, and lobster, all your favorites. I'll cook for you myself."

Gilbert's words were filled with love.

He was attentive, considerate, and courteous, the dream boyfriend of every woman in the world!

"Maybe another day. We live in the same neighborhood, so there will be plenty of opportunities. Thank you for the invitation, Gilbert," Evelyn felt a bit chaotic inside and thought it wasn't the right time for a visit and meal.

"My mother is also here tonight." Gilbert looked at her deeply, his eyes burning with warmth and sincerity as he invited again, "I told her yesterday that I would invite you over tonight. She was very happy and said she hadn't seen you in many years. She really wanted to see Mr. Taylor's most precious daughter."

Evelyn was taken aback, "Mrs. Alexander is back from Aurora Isle?"

"Yes, I brought her back," Gilbert smiled warmly, very pleased.

"That's wonderful."

Edward was so anxious he that could die, but he couldn't get a word in edgewise in their conversation, only able to watch helplessly!

"Evelyn, you know my mother's condition. She rarely has moments of clarity like this."

"Evelyn, you know my mother's condition. She rarely has moments of clarity like this," Gilbert's eyes filled with a faint sadness, making him look pitiful, "I hope you can see her while she's clear-headed; it would mean a lot. Consider it a small favor, can you?"

With the Alexander family and the Taylor family being old friends, and with nothing else planned for the evening, she really had no reason to refuse.

"Then I'll trouble you, Gilbert."

Edward was boiling with rage, his fists clenched tightly.

"It's no trouble. I'm the one who should thank you for agreeing, Evelyn," Gilbert's eyes were full of joyful smiles as he made a gentlemanly gesture of "please" to Evelyn.

Then, they left openly in front of Edward, one after the other.

But Edward wasn't willing to give up. He wasn't a coward, didn't want to lose to Gilbert, and certainly didn't want Evelyn to leave with another man!

What to do?

"Evelyn!" Edward shouted.

His heart pounded violently in his chest as he strode forward.

However, before he could get close to Evelyn, Gilbert, as if he had eyes on the back of his head, suddenly turned and fiercely punched Edward in the face!!
