Chapter 412 Shot
Evelyn suddenly opened her eyes, her mouth half-open, trembling all over as she cried out, "Kimberly!"
Kimberly's frail body was in front of her, arms hanging limply, and then she seemed to lose her soul, gently falling.
Edward and William were both stunned.
Evelyn held Kimberly in her arms, suddenly feeling a warm wetness in her palm. She raised her trembling hand, and tears immediately streamed down her face.
"Kimberly! You!"
"Ms. Taylor, listen to me." Kimberly was barely conscious, her lips moving with difficulty, her face pale.
"Don't talk! Don't waste your strength! I'll take you to the hospital right now!"
Evelyn cried as she tried to lift Kimberly's body, but she had exhausted all her strength in the previous fight and couldn't muster any more. "I'll stop the bleeding, stop the bleeding!"
Kimberly shook her head, "It's too late, I know Tiffany's secret. Tiffany killed Amanda, evidence, phone."
Evelyn felt a sharp ice pick pierce her heart, the pain and coldness spreading rapidly through her body!
She looked tearfully at Edward, who was taking the gun from Lloyd, while the distant sound of sirens could be heard.
Seeing the situation was hopeless, Lloyd turned and jumped into the pond!
Edward fired two shots at the pond, but the gun was out of bullets, and Lloyd disappeared underwater.
"Kimberly, we're saved, Kimberly!"
Evelyn took off her coat to press on Kimberly's bleeding wound, tears streaming down her face.
Her heart told her she had to save her life.
But as a doctor, her rational mind told her Kimberly was not going to make it.
"Mr. Wellington! Mrs. Wellington!"
Bart arrived with the Wellington family's security team, followed closely by Landon, Ulysses, and Peter, the detective!
"Evelyn! Evelyn!"
Evelyn couldn't hear anything, her eyes blankly staring at Kimberly's pale face as she slowly closed her eyes.
Landon ran over and saw this scene, full of sorrow, holding a cross in his hand.
Bart ran over to help Edward, but stopped to help William up from the ground.
"You're badly hurt, the ambulance is coming, you need to go to the hospital!" Bart, though usually not fond of him, knew William was a good person.
And if it weren't for him, Evelyn's fate would have been unimaginable.
Edward stared at Evelyn holding Kimberly, seeing her tear-streaked face, he was heartbroken.
No matter how he tried to suppress the pain and adjust his breathing, tears still wet his long lashes.
He mustered the courage to take a step towards her.
Ulysses appeared behind Evelyn, grabbed her arm, and lifted her up.
"Evelyn, I'll take you to the hospital, this girl is seriously injured and needs to go immediately."
At this moment, medical personnel arrived and took Kimberly away on a stretcher.
"Ulysses, will Kimberly wake up? Will she be okay?" Evelyn, exhausted, leaned against Ulysses, looking in the direction Kimberly was taken.
Ulysses frowned, holding Evelyn tightly, "She'll be okay, she'll be okay."
As he turned, he glanced at Edward.
Their eyes met, Ulysses nodded solemnly.
Edward pressed his lips together, watching them leave.
Ulysses didn't say a word to him, but he knew he was expressing his gratitude.
Evelyn and William were taken away by the Taylor family, and the police arrested all the thugs.
The ground was covered in blood, a scene of utter chaos.
Only Edward stood solemnly, holding the gun. His combat skills made it easy to defeat the thugs without even messing up his hair. Yet he felt more exhausted than ever, even more than on the battlefield.
"Mr. Wellington."
Peter led two officers to Edward, glancing at the gun in his hand, his expression serious, "Come with us to assist in the investigation."
"What do you mean by this!"
Bart quickly stood in front of Edward, his face red with anger, "Mr. Wellington took the gun from that assassin! You don't think he shot those people, do you? If it weren't for Mr. Wellington, Ms. Taylor would have..."
"Enough, Bart, stop talking."
Edward said calmly, facing Peter, "Alright, I'll go with you."
"Mr. Wellington, don't misunderstand. I'm not listing you as a suspect, but there are procedures we must follow. We hope you can cooperate with our investigation."
Peter's tone was unusually gentle, lowering his voice, "Evelyn also needs to cooperate with the investigation, but she's emotionally unstable and injured, so she needs to go to the hospital first. I'll come to take her statement tomorrow."
Thinking of Evelyn, Edward's heart ached, "Mr. Taylor, can I see Evelyn first? I'm worried about her."
Normally, Peter would refuse without hesitation.
But tonight, Edward had helped Evelyn escape danger, and he couldn't find it in his heart to refuse such a simple request.
The atmosphere in the hospital was heavy.
William had been taken to surgery to stitch up his knife wounds.
His left shoulder was the most severely injured, and any mistake could render his left arm useless for the rest of his life.
Evelyn wanted to rush into the operating room to perform the surgery herself, but Landon and Ulysses stopped her.
She was in no condition to perform surgery, likely unable to last until the end.
"Evelyn, don't worry, I've brought the best surgeons in Mugden. No matter the cost, they must save William's arm!" Landon held the trembling Evelyn, comforting her softly.
"It's all my fault, I caused this to happen to William." Evelyn was overwhelmed with guilt, her eyes filled with tears.
"Don't say that, Evelyn, no one could have predicted this!" Ulysses couldn't bear to see Evelyn so sad, his eyes glistening with tears.
At this moment, hurried footsteps approached.
"Evelyn!"
At the other end of the hallway, Simon and the long-absent Aaron arrived!
Except for Peter, who was still on his way, the Taylor family sons were all present.
In such a critical moment, there was no doubt that brothers must be their sister's side.
"Aaron!" Ulysses's eyes lit up with joy upon seeing Aaron.
Everyone in the Taylor family knew that Aaron and Ulysses had been the closest since childhood.
Perhaps it was because they both took their mother's surname.
Simon couldn't help but roll his eyes at Ulysses's enthusiasm.
Aaron nodded lightly at Ulysses, but the next second, he walked briskly to Evelyn's side.
"Evelyn, Evelyn? I'm here."
Evelyn raised her pale face, her tear-swollen eyes squinting at Aaron, her lips trembling, "Aaron, you're here. I messed up, Aaron, I messed up."
Aaron's throat tightened, his heart aching, as he held Evelyn's cold hand tightly, "Don't be afraid, Evelyn, don't be afraid. I'm not afraid of you messing up, I'm only afraid you won't tell me if you're hurt. I'll handle everything."
