Chapter 311 Acting Like a Rogue

Evelyn hummed a tune as she walked alone towards the banquet hall. She knew that Brenda was done for.

"Evelyn," A deep, magnetic voice filled with affection sounded behind Evelyn.

It was Edward.

Evelyn took a deep breath to steady herself, turning back with a cool expression.

Edward stood a few steps away, holding a beautifully wrapped box, exuding confidence as he walked towards her.

"I'm here," he said, his voice and gaze filled with tender affection.

Evelyn remained expressionless.

Edward pressed his thin lips, his eyes full of apology, "Sorry, I wanted to come earlier to see if I could help you with anything, but it seems I was still a bit late."

"The Taylor family's banquet, why would they need an outsider like you to help?" Evelyn scoffed lightly and looked around. "Where's Grandpa? Didn't he come with you?"

"Grandpa's here. He's in the reception room chatting with Mr. Taylor," Edward said gently.

"Alright, I'll go see Grandpa. You do as you please," With that, Evelyn turned to leave without a hint of hesitation.

"Evelyn!" In a panic, Edward grabbed her hand firmly.

"Why are you pulling me? If someone sees us, it'll be hard to explain. Let go!" Evelyn struggled, her ears turning slightly red.

"There's no one else here, just the two of us," Edward's breathing deepened, his eyes narrowing as he pulled Evelyn into his arms. "As an absolute opportunist, I won't miss a single chance. If there's no opportunity, I have to create one."

Evelyn, wearing sharp high heels, lost her balance in the struggle and let out a small cry. She then fell into Edward's warm, broad chest.

Edward's eyes widened. Holding the gift in his left hand, he couldn't free it, and fearing she might fall, he quickly wrapped his right arm around her.

Evelyn's chest pressed against his firm arm.

Edward's breath hitched as he froze.

He could feel Evelyn's breast against his muscles.

Edward's mind went blank, his breathing growing hotter, his eyes subtly reddening.

"Evelyn, you have a great figure," he said, his lips close to her blood-red ear.

His husky voice teased every trembling nerve of hers, his body under the suit gradually emitting an unbearable heat, enveloping and entangling her.

"You rogue!"Evelyn's beautiful eyes widened in anger. She pushed against his chest and slapped him.

The force, to Edward, felt like a scratch.

He wasn't angry at all; instead, his heart itched, his mouth dry, and his mind felt dizzy as if he were drunk.

"You hit me, but I still have to tell the truth. It's great," Edward said, his eyes sincere and clear.

"Shut up! Stop talking!" Evelyn's eyes widened in anger. "Don't come near me!"

Dazed, Edward stared at her, disobediently taking a step closer, their breaths mingling. "Evelyn, if you don't let me come near you, I might as well die."

"Then go to hell!" Evelyn's cheeks turned bright red as she turned away, stomping her feet in anger.

She knew it was just an accident and couldn't blame him. But how could he be so shameless, taking the opportunity to comment on her figure?

Edward watched Evelyn's beautiful, slender back, imagining her angry expression.

His thin lips curved into a doting smile.

"Evelyn?" Another clear yet powerful voice suddenly came from behind, trembling slightly, full of longing.

Evelyn's body shook, quickly turning around.

Instantly, her bright eyes filled with tears. She rushed past Edward like the wind, eagerly running towards the person who called her, "Nancy!"

"Evelyn!" The voice called out. This call was even more fervent than the last, with a hint of a sob.

Edward, stunned, turned sharply.

Not far away, Evelyn tightly embraced Nancy, who had a dignified and elegant appearance, wearing a light blue suit, exuding grace and presence.

Nancy had long, thin eyebrows, and a delicate, fair face with just the right amount of makeup. Her clear, determined eyes with a hint of pride.

Nancy bore a striking resemblance to Donna!

Could Nancy be Evelyn's rumored half-sister, who married far away to Aurora Isle?

"Nancy, when did you come back? Why didn't you tell me? I could have picked you up!" Evelyn, holding Nancy, was both surprised and delighted. Tears of longing turn into full drops, falling on Nancy's shoulder.

"I just arrived tonight, got off the plane a little over an hour ago. I thought I wouldn't make it, so I didn't want to disturb you all." Nancy's eyes were also wet as she gently stroked Evelyn's back. "Isn't this a nice surprise for you?"

"A nice surprise!" Evelyn's voice choked up more and more, and she felt like crying.

"Evelyn, when I saw your back just now, I almost didn't recognize you," Nancy looked Evelyn up and down repeatedly, both happy and heartbroken. "You've lost a lot of weight. Your face used to be round, but now your cheeks are sunken. Who's been mistreating you? Not feeding you?"

Hearing this, Edward's heart tightened, feeling very uncomfortable.

He remembered when Evelyn first married him, her face was indeed round, with a bit of adorable baby fat.

Later, he didn't know when it started, but Evelyn who used to hover around him, busying herself by his side, gradually lost the sparkle in her eyes and the roundness in her face.

She had suffered by his side, during those three years of neglect and coldness, day by day.

He truly deserved to die.

"Simon used to always say I was chubby. Now that I've lost weight, he has nothing to say!" Evelyn didn't care, leaning on Nancy's shoulder and acting spoiled. "Besides, so what if I've lost weight? Am I not pretty anymore?"

"Yes, you're the most beautiful." Although Nancy was only three years older, she doted on her sister.

"Nancy," At this moment, Edward walked over, trying to get close to Nancy.

Startled, Nancy looked Edward up and down, her pupils shrinking, "Are you Mr. Wellington from the Wellington Group?"

"That's too formal, just call me Edward," Edward extended his right hand politely, his beautiful eyes holding a gentle smile.

He seemed both broad-minded and sincere, not like the ruthless and cunning person the rumors described at all.

Out of courtesy, Nancy was about to shake his hand, but Evelyn pulled her back, glaring fiercely at Edward, "Don't think about getting close to her and try to score points in front of her, Edward."

Edward frowned and smiled bitterly, awkwardly retracting his hand.

"Evelyn, what's going on between you and Edward?" Nancy was puzzled by Evelyn's casual attitude towards him.

After all, she didn't know that Evelyn and Edward had been married for three years.

Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed, pursing her lips, "Nancy, he and I..."

"Nancy, I am Evelyn's man," Edward interrupted.

Evelyn and Nancy were confused.

"I unilaterally declare that I am Evelyn's man," Edward's eyes were filled with deep, unwavering affection as he stared at Evelyn. "She can have more than just me, but I only want her."

Nancy took a sharp breath.

Evelyn's face blushed with embarrassment from his words!

"So, can I understand this as, Edward, you are pursuing Evelyn?" Nancy asked tentatively.

Edward looked at her with piercing eyes, "Yes, I am pursuing Evelyn."

"Nancy! Don't listen to him, he's crazy. Let's go find Dad and Aunt Donna!" Evelyn dragged Nancy, striding forward.

Edward stood in place, watching Evelyn's departing figure, smiling foolishly.

"Nancy, did you come back alone? Why didn't Wade come with you?" Evelyn asked, holding Nancy's hand with concern.

"Wade is too busy. These days are crucial. The election results are about to come out," Nancy's eyes were sharp, her voice serious.

"Nancy, Wade will be fine. He's diligent and loves the people, and you've garnered a lot of votes for him with your charity work in Aurora Isle. Wade will be the future president of Aurora Isle!"

"Let's hope so," Nancy glanced back, then asked in a low voice, "Evelyn, what's going on between you and Edward?"

"A relationship of mortal enemies."

"A relationship of mortal enemies," Evelyn half-closed her beautiful eyes, gritting her teeth, "Just don't pay attention to him. He's lost his mind, always talking nonsense and driving me crazy!"

"That can't be, Evelyn. As far as I know, Edward is a young talent. He is the future heir of the Wellington family, a standout among men."

"A standout among men? I don't think so!" Thinking of how Edward had inexplicably "groped" her, Evelyn was so angry she wanted to scream!
