Under the colorful sunset, the pink roses were in full bloom, catching Evelyn's eye.
Young couples were strolling and taking photos, and some influencers were live streaming. The beautiful scene helped Evelyn relax after days of work stress.
Their striking appearance drew envious looks from tourists.
Anyone would think they were the perfect couple.
Evelyn bent down, gently cupping a rose like she was caressing a lover's cheek, her nose twitching as she inhaled deeply, looking enchanted.
Gilbert's eyes darkened slightly, and he smiled faintly. "Evelyn, you're more beautiful than the flowers."
Evelyn's eyes widened a bit, and she smiled generously. "I know I'm pretty, but thanks for the compliment."
Gilbert seemed to have the same feelings for Evelyn as when they were kids, but she had moved on from those memories. Now, Gilbert was almost a stranger to her.
Sensing the awkwardness, Evelyn changed the subject. "Gilbert, what's the annual yield of roses here? What are the costs? Do you have any exclusive contracts?"
"Ms. Taylor, are you looking to discuss a partnership?" Gilbert adjusted his glasses, laughing lightly.
"Honestly, yes."
From the moment she walked in, Evelyn saw business opportunities! Since returning to KnightSpear Group, she had been thinking about expanding into the women's market with rose-themed cosmetics and skincare. But Charlie wanted her to focus on growing KS WORLD first, so she hadn't had the time. Now, this rose garden had reignited her ambition.
"Roses symbolize love and beauty, carrying a romantic meaning." Evelyn's eyes sparkled as she spoke. "Rose essential oil is precious, benefiting both body and mind. Importing roses is costly, but there aren't many domestic plantations. Since you have this resource, I hope we can form a strategic partnership. You provide the roses, and I'll add value to them. Together, we can turn this garden into more than just a scenic spot. It can become a coveted brand for women, with enduring profits."
Gilbert looked at her deeply, his face softening into a gentle smile.
Honestly, he hadn't paid much attention to her business talk. Over the past two years, many people showed interest in his rose field, but he ignored them. This sea of flowers was meant to attract only her.
Seeing Gilbert staring without answering, Evelyn thought he was considering her proposal and laughed. "I know my proposal is sudden. And it's a big project, so take your time. I'm not in a hurry."

William stood in the glow of the setting sun, looking at the blooming roses with mixed emotions. He knew the Alexander and Taylor families were close, with Elbert and Mr. Taylor being like brothers. Gilbert clearly had feelings for Evelyn. Evelyn always kept men at a distance, even being ruthless with Eric. But with Gilbert, she seemed more lenient, even willing to date him. Sure, Gilbert saved her once, but she was definitely softer with him.
Just then, three black luxury cars approached.
The leading Maybach's license plate made William's eyes turn cold.
'It was someone from the Wellington family, Edward's car!'
As the cars stopped, Bart got out first and respectfully opened the door.
Polished black leather shoes, long legs—Edward stepped out, buttoning his suit jacket.
Seeing Edward's handsome face, William cursed under his breath.
A few seconds later, a slender, pale hand slowly extended from the car.
"Edward, can you help me out?" Standing by the car, Edward hesitated, then reached out to Nicole.
Nicole quickly grabbed his strong hand, smiling gently but feeling overjoyed inside.
'Even though Edward's gaze was cold, I’m confident I can win back his affection!'
Seeing Edward holding Nicole's hand and walking towards the garden entrance, William was full of disdain, not even bothering to curse.
"Edward, I wanted to see the flowers, so I came with you. Do you feel burdened?"
Nicole's eyes were filled with tears, looking pitiful, but she clung tightly to Edward's hand. "Maybe I should go back; I don't want to be a burden."
Actually, he came to the rose garden today to inspect a project. This was the largest rose field in Mugden. He wanted to check the quality of the roses and soil, and he even brought two plant experts. If everything checked out, he would negotiate with the owner for raw materials for the Wellington Group's upcoming skincare brand. Somehow, Nicole found out and insisted on coming. Considering her recent suicide attempt and severe depression, he agreed to keep her emotions stable.
"No problem," Edward's voice was low, his eyes somber. "The doctor said getting out and enjoying nature would be good for you."
"Edward, thank you for still caring about me." Nicole's voice trembled with a hint of tears as she leaned on his shoulder.
Edward's brows furrowed tightly, his whole body radiating rejection towards Nicole.
"Edward, look! Isn't that William?!" Bart exclaimed, eyes wide.
Edward looked up suddenly, then froze. A strange excitement surged in his chest, making his heart race. 'William is always with Evelyn, which means Evelyn must be in the rose garden too. Why is she here? To see the flowers?'
The next second, Edward clenched his teeth and shook his head.
'No, that doesn't fit her character. Evelyn must be here to steal the deal!'
