Chapter 376 I'm Taking Care of You
For a moment, Betty was both shocked and embarrassed, tightly pressing her lips together, not daring to make a sound.
One of the foreign men shouted at Simon, "Who are you? Get out of the way, this has nothing to do with you!"
"If I didn't see it, it wouldn't concern me. But since I did, it's a big deal now," Simon replied with a half-smile.
To be honest, Simon playing the hero was quite appealing, and Betty's ears couldn't help but feel warm.
"Who the hell are you?" Another man spoke up, his expression becoming more ferocious, "Get lost!"
"I'm your dad." Simon replied, his handsome face suddenly stern, "Don't test my patience, let her go now!"
"Bodyguards!" The man roared, and several men in black suits quickly ran over from the other side of the corridor, indicating that these two foreign men were not ordinary people, having so many bodyguards with them!
Simon wasn't afraid, his thick eyebrows furrowed as he cautiously scanned his surroundings.
Since childhood, Charlie had hired professional martial arts instructors according to Victoria's wishes to teach his four sons and Evelyn self-defense skills. After all, no matter how many bodyguards they had, they couldn't protect them every second of the day. In critical moments, their self-defense skills could ensure their safety.
However, Simon hadn't fought in a long time, and his skills had become rusty. Dealing with these people, he might not have a guaranteed chance of winning.
"Simon, don't worry about me!" At this moment, Betty couldn't care about herself and was actually concerned about Simon's safety, shouting at him hoarsely, "You leave here first, leave here now!"
"I have to take you with me!" Simon clenched his fists and charged directly at the two foreign men holding Betty!
At this moment, all the bodyguards swarmed in!
"No!" Betty saw Simon instantly become the target of everyone, her face turning pale with fear, her heart pounding in her chest!
Simon's heart trembled, but he clenched his fists even tighter, determined to rescue Betty no matter what.
In his life, besides Evelyn, he had never gone all out for any other woman.
Simon moved swiftly, and before the two bodyguards in front could react, he had already knocked the two foreign men to the ground with a punch each.
"Grab my hand! Quick!" Simon, sweating profusely, stared intently at Betty, reaching out to her.
"Simon! Watch out behind you!"
Betty screamed, a strong woman who almost never cried, was now so scared she nearly burst into tears!
Behind Simon, a bodyguard with an iron rod had appeared out of nowhere, swinging it towards the back of his head!
If that hit landed, he would either die or suffer a severe concussion!
Because of her, Evelyn would lose a brother! How could she ever make up for that? She would feel guilty for the rest of her life!
Thinking of this, Betty's eyes turned red, and she lunged forward, hugging Simon's waist.
Simon was stunned, instinctively wrapping his arm around her.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash!
A scream came from behind, and the bodyguard who had tried to attack Simon was hit in the head by a flying trash can, falling heavily to the ground!
This scene left everyone else dumbfounded! No one dared to step forward!
"Simon! Why are you so slow to react?"
Simon turned around sharply, seeing Ulysses with his hands casually in his coat pockets, swaggering towards them.
Ulysses' flying kick that sent the trash can over had truly scared them!
Betty clutched Simon's suit jacket, slowly opening her red eyes, raising her pale face to look deeply into his eyes. "Are you okay?"
Simon lowered his gaze to meet her intense stare, his heart suddenly skipping a beat, then pounding wildly. "I'm fine, let's get out of here."
"Leave? You hit our boss, none of you are leaving!" The bodyguards surrounded them again.
Ulysses casually glanced at them, "Get it straight, your boss harassed the girl first. We were light on you. If we twisted your heads off and used them as trash cans, it wouldn't be too much. And you're still yapping."
"Simon, you take her and leave first, I'll handle this." Ulysses' eyes flashed with a fierce light, and he cracked his neck and knuckles, ready for a big fight.
Since returning to Mugden these past few days, he had been very idle. Finally, he had caught his favorite form of entertainment. How could he not be excited?
"Can you handle it?" Simon's tone was skeptical.
"Of course." Ulysses tilted his chin up slightly, whistling as he looked playfully at Betty, who was trembling in Simon's arms, "If you don't trust me, you stay, and I'll take her."
"Goodbye!" Without another word, Simon picked up Betty and ran!
"You care more about girls than your own brothers! I'm going to complain to Landon and Evelyn when we get back!" Ulysses shouted at Simon's retreating figure, but couldn't help the smile tugging at his lips.
Outside the bar, Simon hailed a cab and carried the now weak-legged Betty inside.
"Can your friend handle them alone? Shouldn't we call the police?" Betty grabbed Simon's arm, her thin red dress soaked with sweat.
"He's not my friend; he's my younger brother, Evelyn's fourth older brother."
Simon calmly replied, taking off his suit jacket and draping it over Betty, "Don't worry, not just those few guys, even if there were ten more, they wouldn't be his match. He ate too much tonight; consider it his workout."
Betty was dumbfounded, "No wonder he looks a bit like Evelyn, but why don't you look like him at all?"
"We're quadruplets. I'm the second, and I look a lot like Landon. Aaron and Ulysses look alike; they take after our mother."
Simon usually wouldn't talk about family matters with others.
But for some reason, her curiosity made him want to answer. It also served to distract her; she had been too frightened and tense earlier.
Betty's eyes sparkled, and she sighed, "Evelyn must have inherited the best features from both parents."
Simon couldn't help but smile. He suddenly noticed how thin she was, even thinner than Evelyn.
Her delicate shoulders and prominent bones made her look like a clothes hanger, but she had curves where it mattered.
Simon felt a pang of pity, his large hands on her shoulders slowly tightening.
"Who were those two men who bullied you? How did you end up with them?"
Betty's shoulders trembled, and she shrank back, avoiding his concerned gaze, "People I met in business. I didn't know they were so despicable."
"Business? I heard from Evelyn that you're a fashion designer. Don't you just stay in the studio drawing? Do you need to mingle in such places?" Simon's tone grew urgent.
Betty raised an eyebrow coolly, "In your eyes, do designers not need to promote their brands or expand their channels?"
"So you get drunk with those two foreign men? Didn't you see their dirty intentions?" Simon grew more anxious, his eyes reddening as he stared at her, "How can you have no sense of self-protection? Or are you willing to do anything for your brand?"
"Yes, because I have no one to rely on but myself." Betty felt an indescribable pain and turned her face away from him.
Simon's anger flared at her indifferent attitude, and he pressed her down on the car seat, "Rely on yourself? By drinking?"
"None of your business." Betty gritted her teeth, her eyes showing a hint of fragility.
"Do you know what could have happened if I had been a moment later? Aren't you afraid at all? Do you want to be the victim in one of my future cases?"
"I don't want to know. Besides, you came, didn't you? Even if you hadn't, I would have found a way out."
Betty pushed him away with her slender hands on his chest, "Next time you see me, stay far away, so you won't be bothered."
"You! You're impossible!" Simon was furious, his eyes burning red as he stared at her.
"Miss, you should listen to advice. I've been driving around this nightclub area for over two years, and I've seen many drunk girls taken away!" The driver chimed in kindly, "Your boyfriend is just looking out for you. This isn't a place for young girls."
"None of your business! Don't talk nonsense!" Simon and Betty said in unison.
"Alright, alright, young couples arguing, I get it!" The driver found a way to defuse the situation and then asked, "So, where to next?"
Before Betty could speak, Simon quickly gave an address.
"Where are you taking me?" Betty asked urgently.
"My place."
"Simon! How dare you! How can you take me to your place?" Betty's small face flushed with anger and embarrassment.
If it weren't for the fact that he had saved her, she would have punched him!
"Those two men tonight are powerful. Until Ulysses deals with them, I can't let you go back alone. You could be followed and in danger at any time."
Simon suddenly grabbed her wrist tightly, like a handcuff, "In any case, tonight, you won't leave my side. I'm taking care of you!"
